Amiel's grateful that Sekani tends to read aloud to himself. She heard him repeat what was on the COMPUTER TERMINAL. It must have been talking about these containers. One of them has to be the cure!

Unfortunately, Amiel will have to get past the locked door leading to Grasshopper to know for sure. She doesn't want to risk hurting Sekani by just randomly injecting him with things-- that'd be stupid.



There was one place where Amiel would almost certainly find the code she needed to open that door. The DORM BUILDING was home to many Klis-Khar, and they had to be able to get through that door. Somewhere in there was the key-code she needed, and she would have to get it at any cost.




She owed Sekani that.



The only light in here is a small amount from the hole Amiel made in the door. She hopes she doesn't run into much trouble-- her DEADLY WEAPON is down to three shots. Her INVENTORY can hold four items, but is completely full thanks to the three containers and her DEADLY WEAPON. She can "sense" nearby things to some degree, but she can't really see much.

What should she do?

Amiel opens the door, which lets in a little more light.

Hmm... The door doesn't seem to be locked. In fact, Amiel can't find any sign of a locking mechanism. Maybe a computer elsewhere locks and unlocks it.



Once inside, Amiel sees... nothing.

Nearby, she senses what is likely to be a desk. There might be an object on top of it. The room probably continues further in.

On the desk is most likely a monitor, a keyboard, a piece of paper which may or may not contain writing, and a pencil or pen. Under the desk is a computer with wires going to it from previously mentioned monitor and keyboard. Amiel discovers a drawer, and opens it.

Inside is a keypad device, a diskette, a bunch of paper, a ring, a bunch of sticky pads, a pen or pencil, an eraser, and-- ow! sharp scissors.

She wonders how Sekani's doing. He's probably afraid of the dark. Poor guy.

Behind the poster is another one, of "Queen Ishiji". She must have been the leader of the Klis-Khar. Heeey, that sounds kind of similar to the "Iiji" Amiel saw downstairs. Could they be related?

She considers showing Ishiji the wrath of her mighty PENCIL for indirectly putting her and Sekani through all of this.

Something tells me there was a Diuban here who was not very pleased with Iiji.

The rifle looks to be the same model and make as the one Sekani found earlier. This must have been where Sekani's would-be assassin was staying.

There's a drawing of some kind of bug on the wall. The wall is indented a little where the blood stains begin, indicating that someone punched the walls until their knuckles bled.



Amiel examines the booklet. It's a journal! She skims through the entries.

Amiel takes a moment to regain her composure. Sekani was made a victim of this madman. She has to save Sekani from this place. She has to.

Amiel decides to use the Rifle to help balance it on her shoulder. She feels incredibly clever!

Amiel no longer has a limited number of inventory slots, but instead must worry about weight and how full the bag is.

Amiel is glad nobody saw that. She recollects the LIGHTER and hoists up the HOBO BAG.

There isn't any power here, which may mean there's no power anywhere in the facility. Amiel ponders what she learned in the journal as she considers her next move.

There doesn't seem to be much else of note in the kitchen. The rest of the MESS HALL looks pretty bare as well.

Amiel gains easy entry.

There's a VACUUM CLEANER here, and on the desk are a SPRAY BOTTLE, a ROUGH SPONGE, and a RAG. Further in, Amiel sees a BROOM, a MOP AND BUCKET, a bottle of CLEANING LIQUID, and a PLUNGER. This place even has a kitchen sink!

She sees the broken remains of a door leading onward, and decides to check it out as well. She finds stairs leading down.




Several fans are in this room. These are most likely the GENERATORS the journal briefly mentioned! If Amiel can restore power to the GATEWAY, she'll be able to use the KEYCODE to finally head to GRASSHOPPER and find out for sure which of the THREE CONTAINERS is the cure!

The generators are labeled as thus (From top left to bottom right):

Amiel finds a panel and opens it. She wishes she paid more attention in electronics class.
There are three batteries halfway connected to some kind of... cylinder. Amiel reads the INFORMATIONAL NOTE she finds on the inside of the door.

"Caution: Extreme shock hazard. Don't randomly poke things in here or you might die.

This POWER GENERATOR is equipped with redundant starter batteries. If all batteries are dead, call your local technician."

Most of the wires are broken or worn, but a few wires seem to have survived the test of time.

The REC B./LAB B. Generator's fan is turning very slowly. The others aren't moving at all. Amiel is not a trained electrician, so she thinks she should only do enough repair work to ensure she can get to a working Grasshopper.

Well, that's handy.

Amiel flips the switch, and a low whirring is heard. The generator begins slowly powering up. This probably isn't enough to ensure Grasshopper is powered, so she decides to try at least once to get the COMA B. generator running.

Redundant, hey? This means they don't all have to be hooked up.

We only know the location of one positive terminal for sure. Disconnect the positive wire on the battery side of the middle one, and connect it to the positive terminal on the leftmost battery.

The wires are shielded. Amiel connects two of them to one of the batteries.

There is a low hum as the Generator slowly starts powering up. These things must take a while to get going, as Amiel still hears the EMERGENCY GENERATOR speeding up.

It... it's talking in her mind... but how? She never heard the Diuban Majibeast speak... why can she hear this one?

Amiel introduces herself to the "Ki-jaara" as she sets her suit back to normal.

"I don't know what to do. Miss Iiji said something about a king and now she won't talk to me and I can't just kill you if you don't want to die I mean that'd be mean but I can't just let you go because Miss Iiji said not to and now I'm not quite sure what to do at all!"

Amiel experiences one hell of a head rush.

"Well, you can stick around and follow me, then. That's not really letting me go. Besides, it's pretty mean of Iiji not to talk to you, isn't it?"

Jiniki explains the layout, though there isn't much that Amiel hasn't already seen. It turns out the DORM BUILDING has a third floor, but the stairway up is blocked by debris so neither of them have any idea what's up there.

But that's fine. With the power on, Amiel should really be heading to Grasshopper.

This Iiji person... she must be the one controlling the Majibeasts. For the moment, this little one is not an immediate threat. Nonetheless, Amiel knows better than to trust these "Ki-jaara" too readily.

Amiel doubts it's been that long. Apparently whatever turns them into Majibeasts slows (or stops?) their growth. Does this mean they're immortal, or do their lives span several millennia?



They head to the mighty door that has hindered Amiel's progress one way or another since she got here.



Entering the code has positive results.

Their path is blocked by the bunkbed from earlier, but Jiniki uses her powers to move the bed out of their way.

Grasshopper welcomes them, but reports that he has made little progress finding a cure for the CONTAMINANT. It's majickal in nature, and doesn't follow normal laws of biology. Grasshopper simply wasn't programmed to handle a task like this.

Amiel was kind of hoping it'd be that easy, but apparently not. Well, she has a lot of things to show the medical robot and many more things to ask it. Where should she start?

Jiniki reluctantly agrees, but shivers a lot as Grasshopper moves to take a sample.

Grasshopper attempts to reward Jiniki with a lollipop for being brave, but errors when it realizes there aren't any.

Grasshopper says it'll take him about an hour to process everything. Amiel decides to go ahead and wait here. The last thing she wants is to run into an insane Sekani without the means to cure him.



Jiniki sits in front of Amiel, or something that passes for sitting. Amiel's curiosity gets the better of her.

"Oh. I was bad and I got hurt. My queen told me that I should be good so I don't get hurt.

Jiniki sounds really sad. Amiel feels guilty for bringing it up.

Amiel has no idea what Klis-khar tastes are like, but assures Jiniki that dudes totally love bad-asses.

Jiniki says that she doesn't want to be "bad ass". She wants to be pretty like a princess.

Amiel thinks for a moment, and then has an idea.




Amiel reaches into her SECRET FIFTH INVENTORY SLOT.

"In the L.A.F. (Lian Armed Forces), we all have to wear the same outfits. I'm not technically allowed to wear this while on duty, but I put it on whenever I want to feel feminine. Maybe it'll help you feel better about yourself."




Amiel places her SECRET PINK HEADBAND around Jiniki's head. There's a small orange and red flower on the side. At least, the guy who sold it to Amiel claimed it was orange and red.

"There. It's not much of a 'crown', but this officially makes you a beautiful princess."

Jiniki stares at her in silence. She'd totally be blushing if she was capable of it.

"Miss Iiji never called me beautiful..."

She sounds so touched. Amiel smiles a sincere smile. Maybe she was wrong in assuming the Majibeasts were all bad people. There are good Tezakians, and now there's at least one good Majibeast.

That's quite a relief. Even with her DEADLY WEAPON, Amiel would be pretty powerless to stop Jiniki, and she doubts Sekani would fare any better, even with his new strength.



Dilia doesn't look incredibly happy to see Amiel. She should just accept that Sekani and Amiel are meant to be and get over it.

Sekani and Dilia both attack her at once!

Amiel jumps out of the way while removing the syringe. If this is the same stuff that was shot into Sekani, she's in for a rough time.




Amiel readies her DEADLY WEAPON. She won't kill him, but if she has to she'll shoot him in the arm to disable him. Sekani points at her dramatically and asks who she is.

"It's me! Your girlfriend!"

Hopefully stating it like that will help break through whatever's messing with his head.

"She says that Sekani lost control of himself. I think Miss Iiji took over his mind. I didn't know she can do that and she keeps yelling at me but my majicka is really really strong so she can't make me do anything. She never yelled at me before and I don't like it very much.

Amiel doesn't have time to explain herself to Dilia right now. They have to do something about Sekani before he hurts himself (or them).

The "dart" is full of a strange blue or purple liquid. The liquid she found in the DORM ROOM was clear (or yellow?), so this may be different from the formula that turns people into Majibeasts.

Amiel very quickly asks Grasshopper how you revive someone whose heart has stopped. It explains, all too calmly, how the procedure goes for Tezakian patients.


Amiel explains to Dilia that she has to apply a certain shock to a certain area. Was it 1000 volts over 5 milliseconds?

Either Dilia understood her or Jiniki is super fast at translating, because she immediately lowers her horns to Sekani's chest.



Amiel's own heart skips a beat as Dilia delivers the charge and they wait for a response.




Sekani coughs a couple of times, and then sits up. He looks blankly at Dilia and Amiel.

Dilia lays down near Sekani and nudges him. She looks as relieved as Amiel is.



Amiel hugs Sekani. She thinks she hears a voice in her mind, but she can't make it out. It stops, and then Jiniki speaks up.

"Dilia says that even if you don't turn into a Ki-jaara, she's totally willing to share Sekani with you now. Just don't randomly inject him with blue liquids anymore, okay~?

"Um, she also says you can join her in 'celebrating' his survival if you want~ I dunno why she said it that way, though..."



...Did Dilia just hit on her? Amiel doesn't know how to feel about that.

Amiel doesn't know. Dilia hangs all over him, but she wasn't much better, was she? Maybe they should just ask Sekani and see how he feels. That's what she should have done since the beginning.

She'll just have to trust him and let him do what he feels is best.

Sekani doesn't respond.

"Um, your friend, mister birdie, is trapped in his own mind. You stopped his transformation before it was complete and kicked Miss Iiji out, so now he's kind of stuck."

"I'm super good at majicka, so I might be able to help him... but I've never done it before so I don't really know if I can or not."



Amiel pleads with Jiniki to at least try. She agrees to give it her best shot, because she doesn't like seeing Amiel being so sad.




Jiniki takes Sekani's arm into her second pair of hands, and says to try not to disturb either of them while she works.

Time slows down to a crawl as Jiniki goes silent.



Amiel has never felt so powerless or alone in her entire life.
