The elven kingdoms are despised,
So much so that the Prismaticans damned their souls to create the "Harroctar".
The Harroctar are abominations that live only to hunt and kill elves.

Thye are hounds unleashed, nothing can control them,
for three hundred years they have slaughtered elves.
In three hundred years the elven kingdoms fell from the masters of the world to shadows.
Today the wrath of the slayers fall upon the Kingdom of Maerieyelle

Three would be survivors huddle in terror, having just watched friends and family torn to pieces.
aid them if you can, or let them perish and fade into memory

There are 3 elves to currently save:

Ushamerea Syndra a Florist one of nine decorators for Lord Xielphiane's party

Ialantha Dalvari a maid one of fourteen servers for Lord Xielphiane's Party

Eranil Lusalor a Poet one of twenty five guests at Lord Xielphaine's party

Elves are sharp of sense and quick of mind, you can spend as much time as you need assessing the situation and gathering information
enemies cannot act until the elves perform an action

be very certain before picking an action, if all controlled elves are killed the story is over

Poet, calm the Florist down with an ASMR lullaby into her ear. Quiet enough for the terrible thing not to pick up.

Well given their effectiveness, I assume that most forms of hiding don't work.
Likewise, running seems futile.
Fighting is just all-around bad.
Traps and ambushes require time you don't have.
The fortifications and safe-rooms have all been expended.
Help has proven futile.

For now, just very quietly and steadily sneak down the corridor and get out of sight.

Then perform a ritual to damn U shame rea's soul to create a better, more elven version of the Harroctar that can fly you all out of here.

What are the known capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses of the Harroctar? About how many of them attacked Lord Xielphaine's party?

Where was the party? Are you in a city being overrun, or was the attack a surprise/more like an assassination?

Is the Harroctar around the corner aware of you yet? Are any of you wounded?

What's the safest nearby place you can think of?

As a maid Ialantha knows Xielphiane manor like the back of her hand

currently the Maid, the Florist and the Poet are cornered on the northern balcony just off of the dining hall.

there are three ways out in addition to the Manor entry way there is a kitchen exit into the city streets and two secret passageways, one leading to the southern city gate and another leading into the caves of memory.

Is there any sounds of screaming or bells being rung or whatever that would indicate that the rest of the city is aware of the attack? If we can get to the streets and raise the alarm then that would seem personally useful and to be the civil thing to do for the community. If, on the other hand, the city is already in a state of panic/overrun then we may as well not bother.

I like the cave of memory. It is probably a dead-end, but it sounds like fun so let's do that!

Remember, these things are made to hunt and kill elves. So you've got to think as unelfly thoughts as possible. That said, important question: is there a way out of the caves of memory, besides the way you came in? "Cave of memory" kind of sounds like a place you don't want people just passing through. Eranil quietly whispers soothing verses to Ushamerea, it seems to soften the florist's sobbing a little, the poet's bosom muffles it further.

the hunter doesn't seem to notice.

Ialantha figures that the cave of memory must have at least one other exit, as the entrance she knows is supposed to be secret, and other go there publicly.
none of the elves know the caves of memory very well it's a dour place, and they've no reason to visit often.

The elf hunter also bars their path, the elves are nimble, quick and stealthy they might be able to slip past without notice, but none are eager to try.

Eranil has heard that elf hunters rely entirely on their four senses:smell, tremor sense, heat sense and hearing.
rumor has it they favor different senses and different range from their prey

the elves will need to think of some way to get past the elf hunter to reach the cave of memory the south gate or the street

somewhat calmed Ushamerea looks to the vines on the walls, they're decorative but she knows they are strong enough to hold her weight she's climbed them before.

Ialantha feels confident she could climb the vines as well.

Eranil is uncertain, as heaviest and weakest of the three physical activities have never been her strong suit.

No. 969814 ID: 9ef252

You probably can't risk going more than one at a time, but you are elves, and these are plants in an elf city, so presumably you're pretty light and they're pretty strong? Still.

The lower vines will have fastened themselves more securely and the vines themselves will be sturdier and spread the pull wider along the top. Go slowly, don't put too much weight on one thing at a time, and try place your feet and hands near where the branches split if you have the option. The plan to send Eranil in the middle is a good one - with help lowering herself off the first balcony and getting on the second, she can save more of her stamina for the middle portion of the crossing. Vines like these usually break at a point rather than peeling the whole thing off so the lightest person should go last just in case they have to climb over on just one remaining top chunk.

Alternately, if you all used all your clothes, you might make a long enough rope to tie one end to the balcony you're on, and send someone to bring the other end over. If they pull that end around the corner of that door a bit and wedge their feet as they hold it in place for the others, the leverage would help. You'd still be partly using the vines and just using the rope to take some of the weight, but it would help. In that case leave the lightest for last, since the first needs a bit of strength and you'd presumably want to untie the rope and bring your clothes over with you.

I agree with this. The only thing to add is if the elf-hunter gets too close, you could throw a shoe to make noise and divert its attention. It sounds like they could be blind if they must rely on those other senses? Or maybe near-sighted.

Hrrrm.
If it’s a trap with the enemy coming to finish off this wounded warrior then it means they’ll only find our girls if they’re sufficiently noisy to draw attention.
If not then it’s headed towards the girls and they’re in trouble.
The Maid might not be as agile as the Florist but I figure she might be at least able to go onto the vines temporarily to hide. The Poet…
I don’t immeadiately have a good idea beyond a thrown bauble distraction. Push come to shove she COULD double down on getting caught and go loud, drawing all the hunters to her, and with her sacrifice probably garuntee the escape of the other three but…
Elves are sneaky, straight-up. She might be able to just hide and let the hunter bypass her? Dunno if she has room/time to find a better hiding spot then say, next to the entranceway to the balcony, if she’s concerned about the vines holding her.

Ushamerea quietly walks down the corridor, the Harroctar in the dining hall continues to focus on the balcony door.

she peaks around the corner, Another Harroctar clings to the wall.

'I wouldn't try that way' The injured archer speaks in a voice so soft only sharp elven ears can hear 'with a scout stationed there you'd never make it'

The Florist is shocked, she knows this elf. His name is Turit Trueshot one of Lord Xielphiane's bodyguards, his wound on his leg seems very deep and he's lost a lot of essence.

'Don't fret over me Usha I've had worse' Turit comments having noticing her concern 'You need to get out of here, I think the route through the kitchen is still safe'

tears return to Usha's eyes, Turit has always been kind and considerate. I can't, there are two others trapped on the balcony, I must help them.

'heh heh, I guess I'm not the only fool around here' Turit chuckles quietly 'I'll help however I can, I have a single arrow left I might be able to take down one of these creatures if I'm lucky, I also have a rope and grapple and a short blade'

The maid is willing to take her chance on the vines and climbs across.

climbing in a long dress is a little awkward but she manages.

'How can these monsters be killed Turit?' the florist asks

The elven archer gives the answer he's long considered'The best way I know of is a piecing strike from the back, where their armor is weakest'

Open conflict is too frightening for the flower arranger'is there some easy way to avoid them, or hide from them?'

Turit responds clinically 'fire, between the sound, the smell and the heat, Harroctar are left nearly blind around fire.'

Ushamerea doesn't find this very helpful, fire is rare in Orisiyelle, few elves use it.

she takes the grappling hook, and slinks back to the ledge where the Maid is waiting.
The elf considers tearing her dress for Eranil to use as a handlebar, but the fabric is too strong. she could probably just toss fellow survivor her apron instead.

The Florist takes a few practice swings with the grappling hook but is worried about hitting Eranil.

Eranil ties her dress up so that it doesn't get in the way.

Questions:

-Is Turit in a good place to hit one of the Harroctar in the back of the head?
-Can we use said apron to help ferry the rest of the sisters over to Eranil's location?
-Any flammable materials nearby? Sounds like fire is going to be our best bet of getting by the Harroctar.

I say we not worry about making some noise now in order to ensure Eranil (Poet) has the best chance of making it across the gap, and we have a great head start through the kitchen.

Let’s have Ushamera (Florist) throw the grappling hook over the railing. It’ll make noise as it clanks against the balcony, which will trigger the hunters, but it sure beats hitting Ushamera (Florist) with a friggin grappling hook to the chest. Then Ialantha (Maid) can secure the grappling hook as high up on the vines as she can, and then give Eranil (Poet) her apron to use as a zipline after Ushamera (Florist) ties the other end to the balcony on the opposite side.

Again, they’ll need to move quickly since the hook will make noise and vibrations, but by going toward the kitchen/dining hall, maybe that’ll draw them upstairs to the archer, who can get a clean shot on one of them and go out in a blaze of glory.

We can't really do anything for her immediately but we could plug the drain so the room slowly floods wich will probably give her a better chabce long term

Now that shes calm, in whisper ask her how she got here.
There must be some form of conveyance if the waterway isnt the route she entered by.

Once we know what it is, then maid dalvari may know where itd be kept.
Then theyd be able to decide ifnit was practical.

In the mean tine, im guess the siren is aquatic enough to stay underwater.

May be if she bunches up and tucks down low, staying still as a stone, itd be enough to keep them from spotting her, even if they were to enter the room.

The waterfall would be churning the surface of the water a little and the small amount of noise it offers would combine to give her cover while the elven ladies consider the next move.

Check if the cake trolley would make sound with weight on it. If is silent enought then we can carry her, even so I suspect a future situation where the siren will be left behind on screams while the survivors escape with tears on her eyes.

Maybe we can use the plug to make sound and leave a distraction behind if we have to leave hastly.
