General FAQ

>what is your process?

i vividly imagine the panels like a movie sequence and change it depending on suggestions. usually, i draw the panels first because of this then write afterwards. if the dialogue comes to me first then i will write that then draw the panels to "match up." but my overall process is based off of what "feels right" to me.

>how do you use suggestions?

in the past i went by popular vote and by what was the most in-character. now, i try to incorporate every suggestion as much as possible. if it comes down to a decision, then it will come down to popular vote. unless something funnier is suggested.

>will you continue hot singles?

for a first quest i was a bit over-ambitious... i would like to continue it in the future but to what extent, i have no clue, as the story was a lot looser in concept.

>in the beginning of DIMENSION 1-13LL, there was the option to kill Eiko, would she have died if that option was chosen?

yes. i know that sounds cruel, but i try my best to be respectful of peoples suggestions and the options that i provide. DIM 1-13LL is a brutal story after all. and i knew what Eiko represented to the story as both a character and a concept. if she was killed in the first part then well, we would have an entirely different story, wouldn't we? i imagine closer to a mystery unraveling her plots and past, but who knows.

>how does dimensional travel work normally?

depending on who manages the dimension, there are a few different ways. DB is akin to the TSA of dimensions, they are there to ensure everyone has "permission" to enter said space with valid proof in the form of VISAS or other documentation approved by their host dimension and others cooperating. this is typical for those that come from worlds where dimensional travel is possible on a.. normal day to day basis. there will be designated spaces for this in those dimensions. usually magitech, regular spells, or summoning rituals will be used. or, the angel transports you there directly. there are some spaces where you can just "walk cross" and will technically be in a different dimension, but you usually won't notice.

if you were to travel to a dimension not regulated by DB, then you are at the mercy of whatever multi-dimensional being curates that space. most wont care or even notice as long as you aren't stirring up trouble. just don't pull an isekai protag.

>is currency universal in 1-13LL?

no. unfortunately. there are some currencies that are regularly exchanged, but cash in one area can mean nothing in another. vex uses a currency converter to work around this.

>does vex have a home base?

technically yes. given the nature of vex's AW, they won't get there every time they want as it's uaully a pure luck of the draw. but there are worlds that vex will have a higher chance of appearing in and their home base is one of them. it is not their origin dimension.

>can vex die?

yes. everyone can die. even multis. the nature of their deaths follow different rules.

i am endlessly fascinated by the questden genealogy that comes from people making quests after being inspired by other quests. it seems particularly prominent with FRACTAL since he has a relatively big nonquest audience that draws from the, for lack of a better word, tumblr crowd as opposed to the vintage furry 4chan crowd.

if someone out there has a lot of free time, they could do a study on how many quests have been created seemingly inspired by others. it would be subjective because many quests die in the womb and we don't know the authors' original inspirations.

this wasn't really a question, it's just cool to see the ripple effect of art in a relatively small internet community. you draw good, best of luck continuing dimhell

why thank you! i will admit FRACTAL was the reason i found questden in the first place via a tumblr post. i had read rubyquest before, but a specific mirrored site version that did not directly lead to questden of old. Acid Soup was the first "official" quest i read in that sense and i had lurked around for a while in 2016 then fell off and came back around 2020.

i do think the writing styles of quest authors give away their origins/inspirations the best, but i wouldnt be the best guy making that graph either lol.

your quests were also some of my newer inspirations! you died and you lived are my particular favorites.

due to the nature of me being picky over minor details and compositions that dont "feel right," i have panels that end up rejected. here are a few.

For a stealth approach I think we could use a bit more info:
Are there any rival gangs around (or random street punks) that could be bribed to cause a distraction to occupy the bites?

Would it be possible to get on top of the elevator without raising the alarm?

this might be too silly, but would it be possible to climb up the outside of the building?

>Are there any rival gangs around (or random street punks) that could be bribed to cause a distraction to occupy the bites?
The closest other gangs Vex knows are the Bulls and the Orobros. Vex has contact information for a few members of both. It won't take much to bribe someone, but it will take time for them to be bribed and to get them closeby.

>Would it be possible to get on top of the elevator without raising the alarm?
Can't answer this one unless someone tries it.

>would it be possible to climb up the outside of the building?
This was an option Vex originally thought of. They still technically can, but Eiko is not adapt at doing so. You can of course still try and help her climb through some type of aid, but there are risks.
