Typhon, a construct of magic and a living weapon, pulls himself together from being vaporized into tiny bits. The world he once knew is shattered, and strange creatures dwell upon it. He sets out to find what has become of the empire that made him, and to collect the parts of him that still drift elsewhere in the world.

Typhon
The greatest creation of the Wintermol empire, Typhon is capable of producing an entire army from the ichor he is made of.
Nyx
An enigmatic individual whose mind and body appear to be linked to Typhon's. She was initially determined to destroy him, even though this would destroy her as well.

An emissary of the akari.
