I know, and that’s why I’m against personally attacking them; even if they commit atrocious acts, they still are people deep down, and they're just a result of influence, politics and power. Considering I’ve never seen them before, they might be some sort of festering thing, a result of the evil being channelled from our world into the blood of blood mother and the ichor producing them, even though we are born from the same cloth, I’m just lucky enough to be born where my survival, meant something more than just a number or percentage of food or labour, but I can see, how that mindset festers, It’s why I don’t personally interfere with Crocodile or Bardeibor, Even though I’ve seen the struggles of war, I’ve met those I’ve talked, fed, and cared for those where War was their entire life.
Humans are generally skeptical and fearful to those they don’t understand, even those they may not be the same humans who have lived with us for millennia, maybe one day, everyone will see that we are no threat and we can exist in peace.
But I won’t think the same to those who try to hurt the ones I love and my people; I may not actively hunt them and kill them, giving their same ideology reflected, but they don’t retain any sympathy from me, I won’t defend them from those that they’ve hurt or planned to hurt, I won’t save a soldier gasping for air, In a way, I feel as if they are too far gone, but that’s just my opinion.
Returning to our more pressing topic, It’s a matter of sweetie’s deal, I feel like I shouldn’t rush it, as that could make us seem desperate… No, we are desperate. We just work too hard to think otherwise; it’s just even a simple yes and no, but there’s a lot of pseudo implications, Muni what do you think?
>So she has some kind of magic? We know many physical techniques for gardening but if she can directly commune with plants, that gives her a major advantage.
] I’m not really sure; she’s been purposely vague about it, I don’t see any reason why she’d withhold simple tips or ways to boost the efficiency of our harvest as that’d directly affect her.
I’m not really familiar with the scale of psy-abilities; the only reference I have is a vague research and understanding of the different ore, and the effects it has on the body, I don’t know what it can or can’t do, I’ve only seen some examples, although as you said if she does posses these abilities, I think i’d be wise to take her offer, the negatives are more what-if’s then anything else.
>For Sweetie's secret, can she make use of it without actually telling us how it works? If Crocodile finds out its not just an ability she has but knowledge that can be taught he's going to view it as owed, since technically we own her. Though if you talk to him I think you could convince him to view it has equal to the debt, since she is offering it of her free will. Look at it this way; if she was exploring and found treasure and brought it back to us, it would only be right to view that as going towards the debt.
>talk this over with Crocodile, but I'd generally agree. If color=#948661an accelerate crop production right now, that's worth clearing her debt. You want to prepare a food stockpile before starting any major projects.
That’s a good call, and that’s a good way to phrase it; also, if it is knowledge rather than an ability, I’d find it fair to be able to spread it across the camp, within her requirements of the deal, as We’d all be able to benefit from it, including her and she doesn’t seem too reluctant to give it up, I.e where forcing the knowledge out of her; I’d be fine to do so.
Although talking it over with Crocodile is the right call, even if we are managing the realm, I am still, legally speaking, an advisor to Crocodile, and he owns the land and the treasury and debts within. Considering his reluctance a couple of days ago regarding power dynamics, it is ultimately his decision. Still, if I wish to sway it in my favour, my words are ultimately key.
Yes, I think I’ll discuss it with him; however, I let Sweetie know my stance before I do.
“I’ll be right back, Sweetie, I just need to discuss this with Crocodile first.”
She looks at me warily but ultimately relents.
“Okay.. just, you won’t be able to force it out y’hear?”
Untella looks at me with a slight nod, letting me know what side she’s on; it wouldn’t even be in our best interests what they're thinking, even if we did have the manpower to do so.
And so I trace back my steps in an attempt to find Crocodile, I think if I remember correctly, he’s in the dining room, writing something. It's most likely either a personal or a formal note regarding our current situation. We don’t have any scouts or runners currently, but I’m presuming he will send one of us, most likely Baedeibor, to do that mission.
However, if we do get the okay, we could even send in Sweetie, possibly with myself or someone else to deliver the letter as the threat of desertion would be lessened with her debt lifted.
As I’m walking back to my quarters, I quickly answer one of your questions, an idea that has been swirling around within my mind.
>As for trapping her here over this, is it like she has anywhere to go? It might have been the only option they could, but her family essentially gave her up for dead. If she went back, wouldn't they just send her as the following tribute, as they're still trapped in the same situation as when she left? So no, she won't be forbidden to leave, but it would be foolish to do so.
I think that’s true; I’d probably be awkward above anything, still. She still seems to care about her family, despite their actions. I’m not entirely sure of her previous living situation or how her society differs from ours, but it's still odd that she would have reservations. Still, I can see how it would be better here, even with our barely functioning colony, compared to where she came from, and that's something to consider moving forward if our deal is successful.
>It sounds like Untella might be good at managing a kitchen rather than doing the actual cooking. Lets try her in that position for now, there will probably be some exploration or similar for her later.
We'll have to see
