Oh, a place to stay the night would be great.

>>129053
I would do that, but there’s nobody to whom I could talk. I suspect everybody is inside, since it gets quite hot around noon.

The huts look familiar. I mean, it’s a bit like a little village in Europe. I doubt they’re native Chinese.

Well, after looking around a bit, this place seems to be smallish. Should I just knock on a door?

Heh. This is a goblin town. I saw one hiding behind the fish shop.

I guess you could knock on a door if you like. They don't appear to be hostile. They're scared of you, probably.

Knock on the door to the inn. There should be someone in there and inns are always the number one place for pestering bar keeps about work opporunities and gossip.

Inn sounds good. I'll knock a few times.

I open the door. I have to duck a bit to get through.

???:"Oh, a new arrival?"

Well introduce yourself. Make up some name. Ask about what's going on and explain a bit about your situation and how you got shipwrecked and ended up on this nice little island.

Whoa whoa, one thing after another, alright? Okay, new name... Well, damned, I can never think of one when I need one.

Moira: “Greetings. My name is... Sybilla.”

That should work. It’s my step-mother's name.

???: "Welcome to the 'Annoying pixie', Miss. I'm Zetli, the innkeeper."

Sounds like she is originally from Aragon or Castilia.

Moira: "I was a passenger on the Italian ship Libretto. It sunk in a storm, yesterday. I escaped with a boat and barely made it here."

Zetli: "That's awful to hear, Miss."
Moira: "Have there been any news of other survivors?"
Zetli: "No, the town has been very quiet. I'm afraid we are a bit isolated."

Heh, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Moira: “Who owns the ship and what is their trade?”
Zetli: “Some kobold do. They come here to replenish their water supplies or buy some fruit. In exchange, they do transports for us. I think one of them is a relative of our tailor, Cribith. He has the most business on the island, really.”

I think Zetli is happy to talk to somebody. Well, that’s my impression, at least.

Moira: “Where are they now?”
Zetli: “Above our heads. They are staying overnight.”

Sooooo, I should try to get in touch with them little ones? Sounds like an opportunity to strike a good deal.

Zetli: "Is something wrong?"
Moira: "Nah. The kobolds, you said they have a room here?"
Zetli: "Yes, the first room after you took the stairs."

Well, I don't think the little guys will run away. To be honest, I could do with some comestibles, like right now. But I'm broke.
>>
No. 129987 ID: e828f5

Oh yes, get in touch with the kobolds. And be polite... but only to a point. On the one hand, you need them to get off this rock, but on the other hand, they may prove to be a crew you can intimidate and make your own. Tip the goblin.

Yea-no.
Don't do that, if they have a ship, they almost certainly have alot more people with them, and probably weapons of some type.
Instead, ask if they would mind taking on a passenger.

Yeah this is a good plan. Hopefully they have a draconic captain that treats them like shit, then we could make them mutiny and get a new ship.

Even Pirates must show some courtesy. If these are going to be your potential crewmates, stay respectful. Knock at the door frame, even with the door wide open. This could be the most privacy they've had since they took off.

Right. I knock three times. The ‘bolds just stare at me.

That’s true. Odd.

>>130003
I would take on any ‘bold, but not after I rowed a boat for ten hours. Still, can’t hurt to ask.
Moira: “Hey! Who is the strongest one?”

One of them simply points to the side.

>>130008
Ah, it was but a tiny one-master. I doubt it needs more than half a dozen crewmen.

Moira: “I heard you have a ship. Would you mind taking on a passenger?”

Again, one of them just points to the side. I think we all agree it's safe to take a look, right?

Yeah it's probably safe to check. Just be prepared for a crazed drunken dwarf or something equally odd. Not that crazy drunken dwarfs are that odd, but one who willingly walks around outside and even ventures on the seas would have to be truly epically crazy.

Good. There are four tiny beds and another 'bold.

>>132862
Damn obnoxius ´bold. He will be the first to taste the wrath of the dreaded captain Moira. You know once we get you a ship and stuff.

Explain to him that no it was not meant as an insult. You simply pointed out that you would be willing to work for your trip, you have nautical experience and due to natures injustices you are also stronger than any of said crewmen. Atleast when your arms are rested.

I liked the dwarf joke btw. A good pun is never wrong, and you know it's good when it causes mental cringing.
>>
No. 132865 ID: e828f5

Okay well that's a tough blow, but... try this, or something along the lines. "Your crew? You're the mate, not the captain, so I think it's not exactly your decision whether or not you take on another pair of hands that can handle all the big stuff."

...I'm no good with ship lingo, so feel free to substitute whatever you think best.

I'll remember him. He's in for some keelhauling.

Moira: "I didn't mean it as an insult."
Mate: "..."
Moira: "It's just a cruel jape of nature that I'm stronger than any of you..."
Mate: "ARRR"

Heh, they're just too cute when they growl.

Moira: "I meant no offense."
Mate: "I don't care what you meant. You'll never get as much as a foot on my planks."

>>132865
Moira: "Your planks? Your crew? I don't think so."
Kobold: "The human's right, Ozy. The skipper has the last call."

That was one of the 'bolds at the table.

Mate: "You better shut up, Nilli."

I leave the room and close the door. The ‘bolds are arguing a bit, it seems.

The Inn is small, there are just three other rooms. The ‘bolds’ room is just to the left, on the right are the stairs.

>>

>>132883
Well lets start knocking doors then. We have a captain to rudely disturb.
>>
No. 132889 ID: e828f5

You could always engage in the primal method of gaining a position... Go back into the room and strangle the ship's mate, then when the skipper arrives you can tell him you're his replacement.

But if you don't want to do that, I'd suggest you go back down to the goblin and ask which room was rented to a captain.

There' a small silence. Seems like I impressed him.

Anyway, convince him the sea is in your blood and sailing is what you're meant for. Magellan don't have shit on you when it comes to sailing. Except for that whole part about going through one of the most dangerous waters there is in a very primitive ship without actually knowing the way. But you're going to be even more awesome.
