You can feel the pain this being is going through to produce such incredible lack of thought. It's almost as if they have ceased to exist. There's only one thing in the sea of inky, milky darkness. A sight of distant lights, like stars, and far-off laughter.

There is no response. This host is only barely alive. Something, somewhere, is keeping it alive. It feels as if this intrusion is also playing a part in it.

You attack the face, and destroy it, dispersing the lights like so many tiny fragments... only to see another approach and bite into the psuedopod. Oddly, it doesn't hurt... rather, the bite and the area around it feels numb.

"I've learned a lot since you stuck me in that crystal, Legion." the face whispers, red light bubbling into the eyes. "This one is lost to you, forever. You may as well leave. I'm going to win this time around, Legion. For this time..."

Yea, up until the point where you learn that Legion is fractal and that the piece you bit off will slowly corrupt you.

[Eat Virulent's powers, and destroy its mind; we are older, and better know the weaknesses of madnesses. Also take that piece back from him.]

Su-OH GOD

Virulent Fragment attatched to Mordecai. Status: Benevolent.

Why does my hand feel like it's on fire?! What did you do?!

Fragments of Virulent grant some of his power to normal beings they attatch to. The dissonance between yourself and Virulent is too great to use these powers yourself, as he was created as your opposite.

Virulent powers are utilized in a similar way to Psion abilities, but do not drain anything. Each person is attracted to a different facet of Virulent's power, and is thus granted unique abilities.

Mordecai's ability is MINIONCRAFT. This ability draws on Virulent's ability to manipulate and empower dead matter. Thus far you can only do the following. You may Animate ten kilograms of biomass. You may shape biomass into Flesh for free, Muscle at a 1:2 ratio, and Bone at a 1:10 ratio.

New fragments to the same person will further advance the state of them, making the power greater, but furthering the possibility of losing the host.

... the pain's gone, now. What... what was all that?
>>
No. 229857 ID: 97cb33

oh we just engaged in mental combat with our ancient foe, virulent. unfortunately it seems that battling him like that causes head explosions. on the flip side Art was already brain dead. only thing keeping him alive was virulent. he can't infect any of you as long as we regularly get into your heads so you are safe.

now, we ripped off a chunk of him and removed it's sentience. and it has bonded with you. you can make creatures out of dead things. think of a small critter and try it out on what's left of Art. i suggest a tiny monkey.

I sit down and explain the new ability to my companions. At first they are shocked that I allowed you to alter me, but after some time, they realize it was accidental and mostly unavoidable. There's nowhere to bury Art, anyway, so I decide, with their approval, to try it.

A line of strange blue energy strikes the center of the corpse's back, and the flesh there writhes as it changes according to the image in my head.

And... something comes out, very small, no bigger than my forearm.

"There's got to be something to this." I state, putting my hands on my hips. "I mean, something like this doesn't just pop out of nowhere, does it?"

The creature shifts and grabs hold of my nose to steady itself.

>>
No. 231153 ID: a594b9

We know what's behind the door. It's Virulent. Let me give you a bit more info on him. He is a creature of mind like us, yet also very unlike us. He overpowers and brutalizes minds, and if you kill his host he simply moves into a new one.

We hate him, but back at home we weren't strong enough to kill him ourselves. We sealed him in crystal and sent him into the Between, not knowing that people were likely to summon him into other worlds, and he is to blame for making the current situation worse. Sorry about that. We're gonna try to maybe kill him for good this time, or at least figure out a better way to seal him off.

We can either leave now... or search around a little more to see if we can find anything useful. The place is abandoned, after all... but keep in mind we do have to warn someone!

You think back to that moment with Farah, and indeed, that is exactly what the creature was holding. But the fragment you have given Mordecai was very very small, and that one was large enough to have a physical presence. You further deduce: A peice that large, once implanted, would bar you from entering the person forevermore, but not turn them towards Virulent.

"At last I have found thee, vile breaker of hearts! At last, I shall bring you to justice, for the crimes against the hearts of maidens you have committed!"

Oh god damnit, it's the Ace of Spades. He's the bounty hunter the mayor sicced on me after my escapades with his daughter. Not that I blame him for it... but did he have to hire a ponce like this? Someone who acts like he does has no right being so skilled with a spear... shovel... spade... thing.

what about getting a blessing from all five deities? i'm sure a lot have said their mission involves the fate of the world but we know that a malevolent extra dimensional being is currently here. he got here because he came from our own dimension. he SHOULD of been trapped in the Between forever but apparently he learned how to steer. also, we banished him because that was the BEST we could do, he is literally impossible to kill.

even if you don't wholly believe us i felt you should know.

I think Oosas boons are just fine, it fits your skills and is never not to your advantage to have. It helps you not die and to accomplish what you mean to do.

The only real question is, does it feel right to you? Oosa isn't the most serious of gods, but by the same token he won't hold you to as much. But if Oosas nature is in conflict with your own I think the test would show this by means of failure.

There's also the matter of Ace, he can't really be giving you the best impression of being dedicated to Oosa. But hey even his own servant calls him a ponce. And think how great it would be to throw his own gods favor right back in his face.

>>241932

And then he's gone, a glimmering image of his smile and eye lingering breifly before he vanishes.

First thing you got to do is stop Ace, imprison him somehow. I bet you get extra points if you can frame him and get him locked up in the city jail. That'll give you plenty of time to get to the manor. Or maybe you could misdirect him? What of the ninefold tricks could you use?

First thing is pretty basic, distract Ace so you can flee. The trick is to let him think you are running away from town, so when he starts after you it's in the wrong direction. Between his tracking skills and his boon that advantage won't last long, but it is still an advantage.

Is your horrid little monkey thing back? Having it jump on Aces face sounds like good fun. Otherwise you can keep an eye out for a corpse in the woods you can make a quick annoyance out of. That's unlikely but if the chance comes up take it.

You still have the ring of the ram I assume? If it has enough of a charge you can go ahead and let her rip, otherwise you should have enough built up by the time you finish running to town to knock him away if you need. If you don't use it at all you might build up a dangerous amount of energy by the time you get there.

The monkey leaps on Ace's face, screeching loudly while I run on. He turns a few times roaring in anger, and...

By luck, manages to blindly run after me. I can't help but let out a little laugh.

have the monkey yank his ear to divert him into a tree then jump off right before impact.

Can you stop, hide behind a tree, trip him, and then start running again in another direction?

A good way to foul up foes with supernaturally good luck is to put them between a rock and a hard place. Not only is it possible their luck will fizzle and backlash, but even the luckiest situation isn't so good for them. An example would be to lead this guy to the edge of a cliff, but then stand so that if he tries to dodge the edge he'll run into your blade. If he's lucky he'll run off the cliff... and that's not very lucky at all.

Of course falling off a cliff probably won't kill him by way of sheer luck, but you get the idea.

Just keep running. He might be lucky, but that doesn't make you unlucky, and luck can't make up for simple lack of ability. Hum a little song of haste, and run like the wind!

We shouldn't let ourselves slow down for anything. We can make the course as tough as possible, but it is still a race. Run like the wind!

I'm sure they understand the language of shovel-to-the-face, but they'd only reply with axe-to-the-groin and spear-to-the-spleen, and other such dialects. Unless you are confident that you can get the final word, I suggest avoiding the discussion entirely.

hold out your shovel , look one in the eye and make your angriest face. and yell a little, you need to intimidate him. even if he doesn't flee he will respect you. cause you scary.
