This is the most detailed pic in this thread.

Chapter 1: http://tgchan.org/kusaba/quest/res/328044.html

Let's begin.

---------------------------------------------------------

Robert: (It's charging towards me! What do I cast!?)

I wanna cast... MAGIC MISSILE.

lightning bolt, aim for it's right knee.

What? Lightning does not do much structural damage. I agree with the kneecap part, but I think an ice bold would be better.

Robert: (I can't really aim the lightning, anyway! The spell I know just zaps everything in front of me! And about the only thing I can do with ice is make it shoot out in a beam, and make something -20 farenheit! It's getting closer! What do you want me to cast!?)
>>
No. 329666 ID: 35e1a0

okay, ice it is, hopefully he still has the reptile weakness to cold!

go with ice.

Fire. Remember what we overheard the doctor saying? Actually, if you can do it quickly enough, ice and then fire. That should seriously fuck him up.

Is -20 Celsius of Fahrenheit (important to know because one is below freezing and one isn't? If the beam can make flesh go below freezing (and isn't reduced by magic resistance or the like) it is a very deadly weapon, as water expands when it freezes and other things that make up flesh don't.

I suggest that you keep freezing him.

I think freezing his leg should likely delay him long enough for you to check for the guy on the roof who just tried to shoot you.

Robert: (Maybe I should word it a bit differently.)

It's alright, but there's a hazardous material out here. Are there any hazmat teams that can take care of this?

???: Uh, no. No one in camp specializes in dealing with hazardous waste. If there's a hazard spill somewhere, we usually contact the company, and they send someone. Who are you?

Robert: (Should I tell them the truth? Because I may have neglected to mention that Techmages are not trusted very much to the average citizen. Not everyone understands the desire to use magic to it's fullest capabilities.)
>>
No. 330335 ID: 35e1a0

just say you were hired to take care of the monster problem in the mines. and that the spill is monster related. as long as the area is roped off and no one touches it, it should be fine. is a contact hazard.

Alright, here goes.

Robert clears his throat. "My name is Robert. I was sent by the company to investigate your monster problem. The biohazard is related to the monsters you claim to started a strike over. It is important the the spill is roped off, and no one touches it."

>"Oh, okay. You with a mercenary outfit or something?"

"Yes, you can say that. Who am I speaking with?"

>"I'm a miner. My name's John."

"Well, John, what can you tell me?"

>"You know Galos' story, right? Well, when we heard it, everyone else panicked. We all locked ourselves in the huts, and we only come out to go to the mess hall, and eat. We never leave in groups of less than three."

"So there are more of you in there?"

>"Yeah. Jozan, and Tarek. Both Xiodian."
>>
No. 330562 ID: eba49f

I guess you can tell them that the blood is likely dangerous, but apart from that it is safe outside at the moment.

Can you send a message back to your superiors in the guild? I am thinking we might want to confront the shady scientists directly, and telling them that their secret is already out would remove the motive to kill you to preserve their secret. (Just to be sure, though, do you have a shield spell or something that can defend against laser guns?)
>>
No. 330563 ID: 35e1a0

probably not, but making himself appear to be two feet to the left would throw their aim off enough that it counts.

I don't think the doctor's behind this. She does have the strength, but it would be counterproductive to their purposes to let him loose in the hopes that it would kill me. Besides, the foreman and the doctor think I'm down in the mines.

>>330563

I don't have a shield spell, but that would work.

"In any case, it's safe to come out, John. Just avoid the...uh...blood spill."

>"Blood!?"

"Yeah, apparently, blood and bodily fluids transmit a chemical of sorts, and cause those afflicted to transform into...something else."

>"Wait...that means...Where's Galos!?"

"I'm sorry, John, but he left me little choice."

>"You killed Galos!? I thought you were here to help us! Everyone loved the guy, man! How could you!?"

Oh boy.

"John, I know this must be a lot for you to absorb, but what I killed wasn't Galos. Whatever was down in the mines had a bite that warped Galos' body and mind. He may have looked like your friend at one time, but he was driven to murderous rampage, and it has something to do with those creatures down below. Understand?

Robert turns to leave. You follow.

----------------------------------

Soon enough, you come across the elevator shaft to the mines. The elevator is a service elevator, and appears to be empty.

I can't shake the feeling that we might not be done, up here. After all, weren't we gonna get some evidence to Arkos' illegal actions?

i thought that was the datapad? what else could we grab... if that science dude already has some of that serum that would work, but i doubt it.

I mean the research. Remember, they're at least two days ahead of us. If we decide to turn the stuff in, we're going to need more than just a journal, being that Arkos is rich enough to afford a good lawyer.

And if we decide to make the serum ourselves, it won't mean anything if we don't have the market cornered. They need a first generation sample, and have a researcher. We can get a first generation sample, but we need a researcher.

Actually, I think it's time we made a choice. Are we gonna do the good thing, and turn these guys in? Or are we gonna do the profitable thing, and go into the business of black market steroids?

>>
No. 330987 ID: 35e1a0

even if it works and you don't go insane from the serum, the chances of roid rage are probably OBSCENELY high. book'em

>>

Book 'em. I think that selling the serum would be a shortsighted move. Let's not worry about "good" or "bad," let's worry about goals. By the time we're done with you, I want you to be the youngest guildlord in history, or something equally ambitious.

Anyway, for now, find the doctor's lab.

I'm not sure I have what it takes to be a Guild Lord, but hey, you're the Seerstone.

It doesn't seem like she noticed me, anyway. Let's follow her.

--------------------------------------------

You and Robert tail Dr. Lasai, and it's not long before she leads you to a hut.

This must be where her lab is. So, what's the plan? Sneak in, get her notes, and sneak out?

write a note and stick it to the door, then knock and back up. the note should say something about the biohazard and galos. make it look like it's from a miner.
