You are a Male Hathian in the Confederation Security Forces: Civil Security as an Military Police Officer. Your current post is on a Hathian world called Esan, in the metropolis of Rekuna.

Technically its my shift right now but I do not really have to do anything. I suppose I could check the database to see if there is anything that is being requested to be done and find out what my patrol route is today.

I could also just pretend to work and walk about the base but usually the superior officers find out eventually.

How has your job been lately? Quiet? Riots in the streets? Perhaps organized crime lords that have you on the take?

I suggest a patrol with small detours off your normal route. You should know through the grapevine where the problem areas are so head near them every once in a while.

Hathians not comfortable with telling anyone their names unless its someone they trust or its extremely important.

I download my patrol route from the computer.

It is never really quiet around here though its been mostly minor crimes and the occasional feral Hathian.
Although sometimes there is a mob of humans breaking into shops and hurting civilians. they say they are being treated unfairly or something dumb like that. Usually these unruly crowds are easily handled though with a few canisters of nonlethal nerve gas.
There is some crime but I would hardly call them organized. Usually its mostly Humans who cause trouble or deal in illegal materials. Some say its because they are poor or have no jobs, I think that is a stupid excuse because we all can choose to make an honest living. They choose not to.

wait, you said that anyone can chose to make an honest living. may I ask how? that's kinda the holy grail of economics and I've never seen a workable economic system where ever lat person can, if they so choose earn enough money to live on legally. do you somehow make sure ever single person has access to a high quality education no matter where they are born or how much money they have?(another social holy grail, a education system that teaches the poor as effectively as the rich) or do you somehow make sure there are enough manual labor jobs for people who are born in the wrong school district/don't have enough money to get a higher education? does the minimum wage allow a person working full time to save enough money to be able to afford to pay allot now to save more latter? also how does your economy produce enough jobs for a potential 100% full time employment rate?

"Do not hold back on me, I will not."

We take our positions on the mat. She takes a defensive posture.

I can take a Offensive Posture which will make it easier to attack but will leave me exposed if I miss or am blocked.

I can also take a Defensive Posture which will make it easier to defend myself from attacks but I will not be able to strike as effectively.

Or i can take a Neutral Posture which is the middle ground between the above two.

I can focus on Defending and Attacking in one of three areas: High, Middle, or Low.

What posture do I take, and which area should I focus on?

This is the first to 3 touches, so leaving yourself open to glancing blows is no good. That means the offensive posture is out. She's taken up a defensive posture, so if you do to you're just going to end up circling each other for more time than you can spare. She's using a baton - it effectively protects the arm holding it, allowing the wielder to defend by raising the arm in front of, or sweeping it across, their head and chest. Go for the neutral posture and aim for the legs.

I try to explain as best I can, while walking to the armory, that our names are not something we freely give away to anyone, but I have a feeling the human still does not really understand what I mean. I have never been good at explaining anything to aliens, anyways.

I do not really know why this private was assigned here, it is all too possible it could be an error and his files were sent to the wrong place. He could also have asked to be assigned here but this human would have to be out of his mind to want to be sent to a hathian world instead of a human one.

I just can not shake the feeling that there is something odd about this human though.

The Human could be here for any reason for as much as I know about him right now. I probably should not worry about it at this moment, plenty of time to get information about him later, on patrol.

I walk up to the quartermaster.

"Hey, I am here to get my weapon and equipment"

"Hm? Oh right, most people use that terminal over there but I could get it for you I guess. What kind of Firearm did you want?"

Well I would not call them leashed together, but rather connected to each others minds. Panicians make great tools for various tasks such as repairing equipment or bomb disposal. Zikiren males often join the CSF as combat engineers or maintenance crew and are commonly found 'leashed' together with Panicians because they seem to be the most compatible with each other for some reason.

There are two vehicles available to me to use.

The first one is a small and fast patrol vehicle specifically designed for use in civilian populations. It is not terribly well armored but will resist some small arms fire.

The second vehicle is the standard light armored car of the CSF, used in both civil protection and military engagements. Not as fast as the first one but is armored enough to shrug off small arms and also indirect explosions.

Panicians are a bio-engineered species made by Hathian scientists as a cheap way of building and maintaining military infrastructure. The person it is attached to is a Zikiren, a tall semi-warm blooded alien. He is the engineer the Panician is attached to. Panicians as far as everyone knows are barely sentient and fairly unintelligent if unaugmented, they are also ill tempered but in theory should not hurt you if they are not told to.

Private Lee brings his hand closer to the Panician, which provokes it to open it's mouth wider, it's hissing filling the room. He now very unsure if he should pet it or not.

From the looks of things on the hud there is going to be few areas were a roadblock can be setup. Although it looks like the plan is to herd the suspects to the highway.

Pinkie has a ballistic pistol, I have the matter rifle and the other three people chasing have matter carbines although they cant shoot and drive at the same time unlike me.

Pinkie: "Uh, what are you doing?"

Chuckles: "What does it look like."

Pinkie: "Ok, I guess I'll be sitting here then."

I can try to shoot the suspects or wait until they get on the highway, though the suspects are shooting regardless if they are on city streets or not.

Shoot, but only if you're sure there'll be no civilian casualties.

Are their weapons actually effectual against your vehicles' armor? Returning fire is fairly low priority if their shots are plinking.

Stop the enemy vehicle in a place where civilians are not. Don't be responsible for innocent deaths.

Alright I guess I wont shoot if there are civilians around even though this is a city where civilians are around just about everywhere. The rounds they are shooting are us are only bouncing off the armor, the tires are not as sturdy as the bullets shred the lead vehicle front left tire. It falls back behind us making us the lead chase vehicle.

The highway is coming up where there will be less people do I wait or do I start shooting right now. The suspects do not seem to be running out of bullets any time soon.
