Three cold bodies run from their old stomping grounds by vigilante justice in the early night. They know nothing of the road ahead, and they've come together by pure circumstance.

-So hi I saw people drawing stuff and I want to draw stuff too. This is an experimental first poke at quests for me. :o

A bipedal lizard, a quadrupedal one, and a human? Am I seeing things right? Were you hunted, or did you do the hunting? Introductions are in order here.

Welcome to TGChan. As your quest gains popularity, don't be shocked if you get porn or whatnot. OOC is generally stuck to

tags so that it's hidden at first glance like this. If you see a good number of participants, or if you just want to explain a good deal of things in OOC, make a Discussion thread in Quest-Discussions (questdis) and link to it here.

Well, I guess you should share you stories with each other, then.

It'd probably be best if we got up and active while things are still peaceful. Get to know each other better, look back on what exactly put you here, and gather anything useful that you can from your surroundings. Those skeletons' bones could probably be crafted into weapons of some sort if you get creative.

Crybaby, the thick lizard and the last to arrive, is the first to break silence, aside from the sounds of engines roaring along the border fences.
"They'll never let any of us back near their colony. There's an army out there.
I recognise you, I think, you're from the raider bands in their posters. The ones hanging right next to mine on the bounty board, they called me Crybaby..."
He followed on with scattered details about his charge carefully pulling cuts from of reality, he couldn't hide the fact he was caught red handed and weeping since that's what it says on all the posters, but he was only ever caught once. Until the vigilante army network reached him and he was run along with the rest, far away from Colony.
The Raider picks dry and brittle bones through the monologue, working shivs out of the dead, but perks up as Cry begins to talk about the run. Finally coming forward with advice about gunfights and running from the hunters, he'd obviously never seen the inside of a civilised home without kicking the door in, but he was helpful and surprisingly forthcoming to present company.
He points with a heavy stick at the ball of night camouflage on the opposite side of the fire, before tossing the wood in. The animal didn't twitch,
"That's the Mother, or whatever you heard of her. She was wandering into the gang's territory when we met a day ago, without the famous horde. Fear kept us from trying to strip the beast down to the bone, and no bounty was ever placed on a spookstory. She followed our band outwards when the camp was burned by vigilantes."
Raider paused to listen to distant gunfire, Cry continued, "more fugitives will make it this way if the hunters don't cross the border themselves. Nobody's going to make the trek to the next city without stopping tonight. I could make myself another knife easy, but this camp is covered in the dead, it's not safe."
Raider, "this is no-man's land, it's not meant to be safe. It's meant to stay dead for good and us in it. And there a lot of shivs but nothing to stick'm in if you don't like eating people." He kicked around the debris at his boots to scatter a small collection of simple blades, many rusted, there were no working guns and apparently no other tools in the immediate area. The old tin box Cry sits on is empty.
The sound of engines fading off. But no footsteps or calls, they both double checked for those.

Oops, hope that fills things in, thanks >>567460 .

so we have a murder, a raider, and an urban legend for our party with only crap knives, shivs, and whatever you can find to defend yourselves with a whole army devoted to bring people like you three to justice on your asses plus whatever whack jobs you may run into on your way to the city. Good to know

how far away are the three of you from the next city and does anyone here know any special routes to the city or more or less just it's general direction? I do agree that you should rest for the night but try to set up a watch to make sure no one jumps you while you guys sleep.
>>
No. 567594 ID: 53ba34

yeah, gonna need SOME sleep, otherwise you are gonna be tired when a fight happens, and that is never a good thing to be.

So, Mother just wishes to stick with Crybaby, having for whatever reason formed a connection with his band.

As a tip, if you cannot get guns, a sling is also handy to have. You do not want to be engaging everything in hand to hand combat. Other than that, Raider and Cry should agree to a watch--one of them watches while the other one rests for a while, then trade positions.

As the moon slowly rises over their heads, the two discus strategy and survival further.

Eventually landing on the fact that they're going to need sleep before facing another hard day, they must figure out how to decide on the shifts.
Nobody having any form of coinage on their person at the moment, it's Raider who figures out another game of chance, drawing straws. Or in this case, animal bones.

However, having just met Cry, and being of the sort that meets a lot of untrustworthy individuals on his travels, the first and only round is rigged as he 'shuffles' the pair of bones. Your raider has quick hands.

'This way,' he figures, 'it's safer for both of us. If I could trust him at all, I would not trust the fat lizard in a fight. Mommy will keep her ear open for danger anyway, maybe if he tries to pull any shit I wont need to worry about her getting hungry.' He takes the largest improvised knife he could make and slips out of the light to see better.

Over the rim and out of the firelight, he sees more outlaw camps starting up far away along the border, more corroded weaponry that's a little hard to make out in the dark, and some time to think more about his past.

The skittering and screetching of a pack of shadows clearing as he patrols the perimeter of the fire-pit, tells the Raider that they'd just narrowly dodged an encounter.

Sorry for the wall of text before, but Mother was following the Raider around, well until she fell sleep. oxo

so anything worth taking or is it all crap? So here's a question for you, just how many people are trying to escape that last city and just what the hell happened to cause the city to run out so many people in the first place?

Ah, then Mother has taken interest in Raider. I'm afraid I haven't got any advice on what to do about that.

Creeping through the debris of long gone war, most of the old blades and guns are held together only as long as their sleep isn't interrupted.

One however is thick enough to survive a knock, a few more bumps against the dirt shakes the lose rust from the surface, leaving behind a lump of solid metal still good enough for a whack to the head.

Getting run out of Colony's grounds, out of the hundreds of survivors fleeing the army in confusion all of them look luckier than your Raider right now. He knows a lot more about what hurt his own relationship with that city, it was suspicion on his part. Getting ideas about the stories he'd heard of monsters striking in the night, then riding too far over the horizon on those inquisitions. Guilt sits on his shadow in the night, outcast and then hunted he goes back over the past year in doubt of his choices.

Right back to the first time he grew the balls to go and point a gun at the way things were, and start putting his questions on someone else for a change. That someone was the law in Colony, but he rode an armoured train to and from Port City during valuable deliveries on a route that went right through the territory of two rival raiding gangs, back when there wasn't any hope of rescue if he suffered some kind of accident out in nowhere.

The spotter leans forward into his telescope and cries out the details he sees under the approaching pillar of smoke, a train of carriages numbering in the tens, guns pivoting on the sides and gunmen peering from the top.
The Port-Colony Armoured Delivery Service Engine. Number four, the biggest. Its cooling tower shooting a pillar of white vapour up high as it rushes to get to Colony outpost and back to Tower Station before night falls.

Once a Colony Borderman named Muddy, now the fearless leader of the Muddy River raider gang leans over the side of his assault vehicle to give his decision to you. His voice is grating and wise under the faceplate and he still shows enough respect to call you by the name you first told him, a name you'd decided would be lost after this day.
"Doctor, Doctor Iron!" He coughs, "There is your train, you will take four dogs and two cycles and four guns of your choosing. You charge with us to find your man or he dies before the train rolls to a stop." He pauses heavily, "you can keep what of your animals survives the battle, and your answers and your life. The rest is mine. That is the agreement."
It wasn't, he showed respect but had no reason to be generous in front of his party.
Peoples' lives are in danger but if the train was stopped and the armoured cars aboard stolen it could buy some time, however without the reason for this delivery in hand... something's going to happen. There's no way of knowing yet but the other stories don't match up, the ghost towns, strange wounds in Colony's infirmary, monsters some say. Others listen and cry for action, they buy armoured cars from old enemies to fight ghosts. A lot of armoured cars, big slow weapons that don't catch shadows in the night. You were once Doctor Iron to the city of Colony but that housecat wont save lives anymore. He'll need to pick a new name.

The Muddy River gang begins to organise themselves, there are fighting dogs of all shapes waiting to be divided, simple footsoldiers that gather in gangs like these but four of them would be useful anyway. The heavy and light cycles are readied and a trailer load of stolen guns begins to lighten into eager claws.
The sound of a volley of warning shots from the train catches up with the party and they all stop for a moment. Nothing. The spotter calls the all clear and times the approach by their warning volleys.
There will be minutes until they charge. The answers you need are in the thick skull of Overenforcer Whitehat. A good man who didn't deserve any of this, but he lied to you once, there was a different man under that skin somewhere with the truth.
Four dogs, four guns, two bikes. You have your own bike between your legs already and a heavy shortbarrel gun with ten shots in the magazine waits at the back of your jacket. A stab-proof high-collar jacket with a hard metal plate in the chest just like the guards on that train would wear.

we need the train intact? if not get something like a RPG or bazooka or anything that can make a big boom and take out the engine on the train. the other three guns should be 2 guns that will let you house the train with bullets to keep the defenders pinned down and something accurate and preferably lets you ignore cover. A high powered rifle or something.

As for a plan, see if you can't get the bikes in front of the train with one bike with the rocket to take out the train and the other defending the rocket bike. Once the train is stopped have the two gunners move up with you to get to wherever you need to go with the rocket guy taking out the more dug in train defenders and have the rifle dog take one of the bikes put some distance between him and the train and then have him start sniping anyone that looks like a leader to try and stop the train from putting up any kind of counter attack and any defender that is a bigger threat then the others.

Take two or three agile dogs, filling the rest of that set with the tough ones. With all of the soldiers being so generic, I cannot really offer much advice on that, but perhaps take a look at them. You don't want somebody fidgety, with a trigger finger, or overly nervous. Get somebody with some caution, somebody with some courage, somebody tough, and somebody who can maybe use a little experience.Read through again, and realized he already chose your four soldiers for you?
If any of your soldiers look tough, but also don't have an itchy trigger finger, get them a heavier gun, possibly an automatic assault rifle of sorts. Anybody with a trigger finger, get a light weapon, such as a semi-automatic handgun, or even a slow acting shotgun. If they want to survive this, they'll need to use caution with their targets. If any of them seem to be cautious but courageous, get them something useful. As far as what is useful for them, lets hope somebody else has a suggestion.

Decisively picking out four experienced (looking) dogs from the crowd of anonymous ponchos milling around the armoury trailer, two looking well fed and suitably sturdy to be called 'tough.' Another two younger and wiry. They line up after gathering the gear per your instructions... roughly,
The first on the left looks a little starved, but these boys never get to participate in the meat of a raid anyway, he was probably more of a slave and seems to want the experience, he doesn't identify himself by any name but takes a scatter gun gratefully and seems to hold it easily enough.
The second is a tough, he carries a semi-automatic rifle and seems to have fashioned some sturdier leather armour for himself at some point. The slightly cushioned headpiece is definitely riding gear, he follows instructions but regards you with suspicion, maybe he's just cautious. He was standing around his own bike when you find him, it'll have to be one of your two.
The second tough looks like another breed entirely, covering himself in leather sleeves and a hood doesn't hide the definite bulk to the figure. He seems to be strong enough to keep some of his own gear, including a heavy pistol to compliment the short automatic carbine he draws from the armourer at your request. He also brings his own bike, it's fat and loud but there probably isn't much else that will carry him quickly. His small collection of personal items is a pretty good indicator that he's tough enough to keep them.
The last actually speaks, and is the first to join your small unit willingly, he even seems to have given himself a name, 'Dog.' At least he's got some courage. He's rather plain otherwise but manages to dig a launcher and a single rocket from the 'things that aren't guns' box in the armourer's trailer. You also may or may not have seen him steal a pistol for himself.
All together this fills out the 'four dogs, four guns, and two bikes' allowance.

Another volley of warning fire crashes into the air far far away. The train is making its way past the last hill before the ambush point, the rest of the fighting dogs and riders begin taking their positions near the rail, following the orders of their leader, Muddy. He's setting up a fair number of rifle dogs in the trees nearby to cover a swarm of riders who will (hopefully) slip in under the defender's guns and board the moving train. They're all along one side to half the number of firing positions the guards can turn on them.
The ground begins to shake ever so gently as the armoured engine charges towards the ambush, your dogs discuss the plan to hit the train from the front as as an engine the size of a small ship peeks through the entrance to the ambush stretch.
There's probably enough time for last minute changes as the smell of improvised cycle fuel begins to fill the air, and a hundred or more rifle bolts clap into place.

if you don't think dog's rocket isn't big enough to take out the engine of the train then just shoot at one of the engine car's wheels. Hell just leave a big enough hole in the train track and that would likely derail it.

As for the boarding action... let muddy's goons get the now (hopefully disabled) train's guard focused on him and his troops while the 5 of you come form the back flanking them. and with the train between you and muddy's guys friendly fire shouldn't be to much of an issue.
