For a few month now you been having this wierd dream.

Fleeting shape moving gracefully in the white haze.

Wounded creature weeped in silence, its faint cry echoed in the distance. You felt sorry for it. You felt the need to help it...

But this sensation lasts only for a moments, then you remember who you are, and you forget what this creature mean to you.

Each time the same... never different.

Each time the same... exept this one... you don't remember how you went to sleep...

You survey your surroundings...

You can see tilted electric pole just outside the front window. Looks like you been in a car crash.
Sudden surge of pain in your left leg enforces this conclusion. The front panel is damaged by the crash firmly gripped your leg.
Next to you is an empty driver seat with an open door. Golvebox on the panel in front of you doesn't appear to be locked but due to the damage it sustained in the crash it got stuck shut. Same thing goes for the door on your side. You can't turn around and search behind yourself.

You unbuckle yourself and quickly examine stuck leg. Not much "bleeding", looks like it stopped recently.
Your regenerative ability not the same it used to be. Now it takes a lot more time and wounds never fully heal.
Without proper treatment it could only get worse. You try to pull it out... without much success.
You will need a porper tools free your leg without dealing addittional "damage" to it.
Still you could always "break it free", but the prespective of not being able to walk for week doesn't seem all that desirable to you.

Ok check the back seat as well and see if your seat can be adjusted at all. Might help you move around a bit.

Also is your leg stuck on part of the steel frame or some of the plastic cowling? If it has some plastic in there you might be able to break some and get free.

Or if you have shoes with thick soles you might be able to work one off your foot so you have room to wiggle free.

You try to search under driver seat, but its just out of your reach.

While doing it you notice a rubber grip sticking out of the pocket on drivers door.
You can't reach it like this as well. Your leg is firmly gripped by metal part of the front panel.

Taking you off your boots won't do much help. You try adjust your seat to create a opening...
Too bad, seat was damaged during the crash and is already all the way back and can't be moved any further.

You search you pockets and find a west coast map.

Ever sence you escaped the facility and parted ways with other escapees, you been traveling a lot in the last 13 month, mostly moving south.
What ever happened in that facility is happened to the outside world too.
It's been like this for some time now.
Flesh-hexed... a common term used for these creatures. They don't appear to have any shred of inteligence, drive pure instincs to feed.

You check the pocket in the back of your seat... nothing there.

Growl in your stomach remind you of supplie bag you stashed on the bunk behind you. It still way out of your reach. You never considered eating fleshy just outside your door, revolting scent and parasite infested meat don't make up a well balanced meal.

And it's not like you can eat meat anyway... You health been deteriorating exponentially for the last few month. Your stomach can't take much exept mashed potatoes and baby food. And you feel its only gonna get worse.

I think you're going to have to return to the facility. Find the Mother that guy told you about. I'm thinking the "wounded creature" in your dreams is the Mother. I'm thinking you can either heal it somehow and gain its help in setting the world (and you) right, or put it out of its misery to stop the plague. That would kill you too though.

Hey, looks like a survivor's over there. Guy in a hat. Call him over and get his help in escaping the car. Hey, can that screwdriver maybe pry open the door?

Such thoughts visit you from time to time. Unlike other two escapees you have no memory of life before waking up in the abandoned facility.
Using the boat you reached northen port town called Folkmore. There you parted way with other two and started making your way down south.
On your way you tried mostly avoid other people, partly because of your appearnce, partly becase you had no solid way of communicating with large group of people. For 13 month only thing that kept you moving was this nagging thought, like splinter on the back of your mind... go south... go south.

Okay, lets go to the motel. I understand it's the end of the world, but I don't know if things would still be in business, so I don't know if you'll need money for a night. You point at your eyes then at the door after wich making circular motions with your finger.

Sam: Wanna look around? You better rest John, I can take care of that.
>>
No. 635101 ID: 296917

Well, the revolver's got no bullets anymore but it makes a decent club. Also if you're facing down a thinking person you could bluff that it's still loaded.

Hmm, spikes on the road implies that there's someone nearby. Someone who may be preying on travelers. Spike the road, loot the cars after the flesh-eaters are done... If the person has a tow truck they could cart away the vehicle afterwards as well. One could take a car apart to get useful parts... Anyway I'm saying it's dangerous. Either you both go, or neither.
>>
No. 635103 ID: 9ddf68

the spikes could have been put up by the local police to try and block traffic to stop the flow of mutants from getting into the city when everything was going to hell but seeing as there were no other vehicles on the road (at least that I saw) and nothing saying the road was closed/blocked that likely isn't the case. Assume the worse and assume it was set by raiders or something else that isn't exactly friendly and try to sleep with one eye open and you two should probably sleep in shifts.

Also try to stick together, you don't know what you'll find in here so it would be better to have backup just a few steps away, and with only one real weapon between the two of you (gun has no ammo after all) that way you don't have to worry about leaving someone unarmed. Plus you could just say that you want to keep moving around a little to keep your leg form getting stiff.

And for things to keep an eye out for other then the normal stuff is tin cans, maybe jars, and anything to use as string, old shoelaces, wire, actual string so you can try and set up one of those noise maker traps. You know the one where you hang a tin can with some rocks or something in it from a somewhere so when someone knocks into it it makes a noise letting you know someone is nearby.

>>

put your ear against it first to see if you can hear anything on the other side, if you don't hear anything then yeah chop the fuck out of that door. If it's locked that means no one else has looted that room yet. But that begs the question to why no one has tried to loot that room yet.
>>
No. 635112 ID: d90668

Padlocked from the inside means someone locked themselves in or there is another exit to that room. If its bottom floor under the stairs it could be maintenance access or something similar.

Axing it down will make a bunch of noise so make sure you do not have any "friends" lurking outside before you start.

Also knock politely just in case. You will be loud as can be shortly so should not hurt.

Someone probably held themselves up in there since the lock is only on the inside. They're probably dead, lets not risk breaking the axe. If a fleshy's behind the door, I don't want to fight it either. I mean, I guess there could be supplies too, since someone definitely WAS in there and holding up, alive or not.

If it's padlocked, shouldn't you be able to open it just a crack to check? Or maybe try and see if there's a window into this room instead. You can use any old thing to break glass and you won't risk breaking the axe.
