You are a spotted egg in a nest. You have just developed cognitive thought. Cogito ergo sum.

What do you do?

Stay in there where it's safe and it's warm, and refuse to hatch.

Also, briefly pause to admire the heart on the side of our shell. Try not to think too hard about how we can see the outside while being inside of it.

You begin to thoroughly flip your shit in your calcium-comprised prison. What madness is this?

A small hole is smacked in the side of the rather sturdy encasement, where you can start to see colors of the outside world.

You're right, something might be waiting for you to hatch - plotting your demise as soon as you escape! You ponder a moment in the confines of the devil you know.

'I breathe, therefore I live. I live, ergo I AM FREE!'

Your time spent meditating is cut short by this revelation. Whatever is waiting out there for you, is going to have a bad day.

Readying yourself to tear down the cage of oppression cast down by cruel hands, emerging as some perceived descendant of a breed of dinosaur - proud and roaring!

But how should the task be done - to fight the unknown hungry for our very being?

YOU
ARE
FREE!

You are a breed of harpy that is a descendant of the mighty tyrannosaurus rex, aptly named Rex Harpies. You are not nearly as intimidating as your gargantuan ancestry, but it shows slightly in your facial features -
a sturdy, scaled brow, a tough, leathery nose, and itty bitty sharp teefs that will take time to develop.

You're not too sure what a law rawr is and why you should be eating one, but it sounds like it's in for a scuffle.

You growl and snarl as soon as you're able to work your vocals as a warning to any creature nearby that you are free, and not very happy.

(I apologise in advance, new creature design means a LOT of style jumps until I get it pat down the way I want it. A bit more complicated than my little plant monster for me.)

...maybe we should check if creatures are around before we growl at them. Look around, seek family and food!

You strut about, full fluff mode, examining your surroundings and stretching your stiff limbs. Wings, talons, downy feathers - all accounted for.

There could be other prisoners, or even the potential of finding your captors.

Your thoughtful mind is distracted numerous times by impulses. Hunt. Kill. Dominate. Rule. It must be your proud Tyrano ancestry.

Procuring supplies, finding allies, taking down your enemies - that could be a problem from waaaaaaaaay up here.

What should be done about it?
>>

Height is a kind of power. Sometimes, jumping down just to see what's on the ground is unwise when there's so much to do on the mountain.

So look around, scavenge for unusual items, and try to draw a map of some kind of the surrounding area.

Practice flying before you leap. You're not used to wind currents yet.

You waste no time in learning flight, tossing yourself off the branch with the fervor of a predator starving for the hunt.

The wind whips your downy feathers and hair back furiously. Time slows down, lost in the magic of soaring through the air! Hey, is that the ground? It's getting awfully close.
