That... Thing drove old man Johnson into a corner!
Unless you want revenge on mr Johnson for giving you black licorice for Halloween that one time, it's time to act fast!
>>
No. 688880 ID: a22f87

well getting close to that thing is probably a bad idea so instead open a portal in front of the thing and have Marty push it away from the old man by sticking his hand through it. Then once it's away from the old man open a few more portals and have Marty attract his hand to pull the monsters limbs through the portals and then close them severing the monsters limbs.

Fighting! I knew it!

Get it in a portal if you can, or if your portals can move fast you might be able to bludgeon it with the edges.

Oh man. Can we make a BIG portal?
If we made a portal big enough to toss that monster through, we'd have terminal velocity.
If we can't go that big another thought is a portal to get the old man outta there...
Or we could use a series of Marty-portals to bounce the monster away and then hang it up somewhere (Remember he can attract AND repulse) while we call the police to deal with it...
Or just start portal-cutting the beast's limbs off. We've got options!

No, wait... try to make a portal INSIDE the monster.

Marty: OKAY. Okay. It's angry again, but we've bought ourselves some time. What now?

You have to get pretty far away to get out of range, which means either throwing yourself out a window or down the stairs, and you'd like to stay alive if possible.

You are AGNES.

You feel like you've smashed power into enough random Johns and Janes to deal with the monster crisis. The crises that come after, only time will tell. One step at a time.
After it's all over, stories will spread among those you gifted about that girl with the bat that saved Downtown City by giving it its own league of superheroes. They'll probably build statues in your honour.
For now though, you decide to think some things through again. In detail. Things like how powers work, how your bat works, stuff one would consider background info. Or exposition, if there were some metafictional shenanigans going on.
What'll it be?
>>

What other sources of power are there?

688956

Powers are effectively functions coded into the universe. The mind can run these functions - if it knows where to look. As long as the mind is going through the mental processes the power requires, the power will manifest. Hitting someone with the bat makes them aware of a power, which is otherwise behind a mental barrier and unreachable. Once they have access to one power, they can discover more.

File 145021512185.png - (66.98KB , 1400x1400 , The bat.png )
688957

The bat wasn't originally a bat. The important part of it is the device on top. When it comes into contact with nerve tissue, it propels the mind in the direction of a random power it has in its database. It then rewinds time to when the current session of consciousness began, which pretty much means whenever the schmuck last woke up.

688958

Any contact with the device will do, but you've decided to bash knuckleheads because time will reset anyways, and it's more fun to send them flying.
Hitting someone with the bat twice propels their mind past the point where the powers are, which not only does not give them access to even stronger and stranger powers, but also turns very ugly very fast, both for the one hit and everyone in the blast zone.
The bat has given you superhuman strength. You keep the device turned off when not whacking powerless chucklenuts, to avoid accidentally touching the device and painting nearby scenery red.

You're growing bored after those word dumps. Doing something about the monster onslaught would both be fun and a visibility boost.
You don't know much about the monsters other than that they probably escaped from some secret lab. Or dungeon. Or cult.
Will you go to town on the oversized pests, or will you try to find out where they're coming from? The former will make it easier to make a name for yourself, while the latter will be much more efficient in dealing with them.
>>
No. 688966 ID: a22f87

I saw find where they're coming from. I mean if you're the one who gave everyone there powers and then run around yelling to the world where you're at then they'll always come looking for you and you'll be stuck doing word dumps forever and never get anything done. Oh god and I can only imagine how annoying it would be once people find out you can actually give people powers.

I think it would be more fun to be a more mysterious hero so if anyone wants to track you down they'll have to work for it and then you can simply fuck with them when your board. Plus once you find where these things are coming from most of the monsters will probably still be there so there's more things for you to beat the shit out of instead of chasing them down one by one.

>>
No. 688977 ID: 67d5dc

What'll you do with the bat if you go hunt monsters? Does it not work on them, or is the horrific backlash less impressive on weaker minds?

At any rate, you're giving random people powers, you're clearly much more interesting in the entertainment value of the situation than anything else. Solving it would be counter intuitive.

Although, being in the group that finally closes it would probably be a good idea since they're probably going to form the first super league. If you want in on that. Maybe just scout the place out and then go around beating up monsters until someone else finds it.

Man, we need to learn how to portal cut without getting knocked out. I bet with enough meditation and practice we could learn how to adopt a mental state that doesn't support portals without the trauma.

>>688960
So your hero making tool is also is also a hero killing tool should they go crazy or evil with the powers you've granted. That's kind of handy.

>Will you go to town on the oversized pests, or will you try to find out where they're coming from?
The latter. It's not about making a name for yourself, it's about making the difference. Every hero out there will know who you are, anyways. And you already created a bunch of bozos to deal with the monsters.

If it is determined to be unacceptably hostile/violent then: Portal above and below, see if we can't get that sucker to tear itself apart through force of wind alone as it reaches and stays at terminal velocity. Using a portal, you look around the corner.

Oh boy.

Oooh, that guy looks like bad news.
But yanno what would be great? Eye poke! Portal eye poke that guy. Even better if Marty can repel like a stick or something into that eye. Like a Video game!

can you just pull the portal infinite loop thing and then just remove the bottom portal once it gets going to full speed. I know we just bitch about that guy killing the other one but I'm getting hungry damnit.

Marty: This looks like grade A major trouble.
Dan: No shit, huh.
Marty: So what's the plan?
Dan: I can drop a portal in front of its eye, then you repulsor punch it.
Marty: I like the idea of cutting its limbs off more.

Dan: You do realise that means you have to knock me out, wake me back up, six times, without getting torn in half by a monster who can get to you as long as it has more than one limb?
Marty: Optimistic.
Dan: I don't want to fucking die.

Marty: Okay, you could drop portals under its feet and lock it in place.
Dan: If you had been paying any kind of attention you would know that I can't keep more than two open. Even then, it has four arms. It can improvise.
Marty: So cut them off!
Dan: Marty, you're a dumbass.
Marty: I know.
Dan: At this rate I'm just gonna make it kick itself in the dick.
Marty: Come on Dan, it doesn't even have a dick. Look.

Marty: Hey Dan, real talk. I wouldn't mind being that monster.
Dan: What?
Marty: Getting wrapped up by a broad like that is kinda hot.
Dan: I don't see how.
Marty: That's because you're a plebeian.
Dan:...
Marty: It's the truth.
Dan: Whatever.

She seems confident enough to stand on that monster for a smoke break. Do you walk over to her (+Marty mood) or head for the Chinese food joint (-Dan nagging)?
>>

let's grab some food first. Shit's kinda moving fast so it might be nice to actually plan on what the hell we should actually be trying to do other then grab some breakfast without having to fight a monster ever other block.

Approach, but stay out of the monster's reach.

Hey, if you put a portal under each foot, your foot could stand on your other foot. and you could lift both portals up to fly!

Approach her, introduce yourselves as fellow empowered and thank her for incapacitating the creature for you.

If she's amiable enough, provided that Marty promises to keep his Internet-tier input to a minimum, invite her for some Chinese after you dispose of the monster.
>>

We should ask her if there's a lot more of these things around or if we have time to go get some Chinese food. I mean seriously, we know jack shit about how bad the situation is besides that we're running into a lot of superpowered folks around here. If things are decent we invite her to join us and talk about it.
