Huh? Because of our accursed knowledge granted by the dark powers of the ether. Duh. Beware our might, if you annoy us we'll tell you to do stupid things and deliberately frustrate you for our amusement.
>>
No. 746310 ID: dfdb1e

That may not be true. We have access to an immensely vast pull of knowledge, but that doesn't mean we specific know all or will be able to use that knowledge productively. Even more problematic, we don't have information about your situation and maybe even your entiry world.
At times our sources can be useful, but our most important function is of guide. Think of us as confidants, people to discuss with that can't act behind your back.

DN-401: Call me Dedrin, I think that name should be suitable Hmm, there seems to be a lot of you, so let me go through what I'm hearing. 1: Ozymandias was at one point the only voice in the Orb. He has been absent as of late, and I don't know where he could have gone. 2: I doubt any succubi would give me so much as a glance. 3: Imps are not classified by Sin, I'll show you a diagram later. 4: My purpose is to scout out locations and targets for Greater Demons, My small stature makes me hard to hit, and my large wings help me get a bird's eye view of things. 5: I wish to become a leader, and overthrow a strict social caste that only those at the top enjoy. What Is preventing me is LORD BAPHOMET. We''ll get back to him later. 6: No, you are a voice in my head, your origin is from this orb, and your position is of no consequence to me at this time.

746370

Dedrin: Oh, right, our king. Well, Here, I drew a picture of him. This is Lord Baphomet, our current King. He took the throne a couple years back and has been ruling us with an iron fist ever since. Here in Hell, to be king, you either have the title passed to you, or you take it by force or slight.

He’s good at both of those things.

Rumor has is that he can shape-shift (a trait that if any other demon exhibits, he ritualistically sacrifices them and takes the rest of their powers and adds it to his own abilities, killing the other poor soul in the process.) and that he’s got a writhing mass of snakes instead of genitals. I don’t think I’ll ask him that if I got the chance. He has feathery wings, long claws, and a whiplike tail. He’s also cold, calculating, fond of cruel and unusual punishment for those on his bad side, and has just a general disdain for everybody. We all hate him, but those who try to kill him mysteriously vanish. He’s fear throughout all of Hell, and His name usually comes as a harbinger to bad news. His policies are strict, and he’s over-all not a fun guy.

Oh, you have an inventory? Well, if I knew that, I wouldn't have told you to put us under your shirt! It's really hard to tell if someone has an inventory or not, they usually have to tell us if they do or don't have one.

It's a good thing you actually have an inventory, unlike the last few guys we helped. They had to awkwardly carry us around in their hands, which usually lead to us getting dropped a few times! I'm actually amazed we haven't gotten a crack or something by now.

His soul feed dried up, and lost everything. He used to be a great leader, and now look at him. His spark of life is gone, as is everything else.

Sounds like a fine recruit for the revolution. If we succeed, he gets to trade with the surface. If we fail he might get to die a most painful death. Its a win-win either way. Huh. That's a new name. Sounds like an interesting lady.

Also, right, Emergency Time Dilation. Sooo...okay, in SOME realms, we sorta kinda can do a... thing. You know how sometimes when something really really bad's about to happen to you like you're about to get shot or the sort, time seems to slow down so you can really suck in how boned you are?
We, in some planes, can sorta kinda do that only yanked up to eleven. If bad bad shit's about to go down, we can usually crunch out a plan in to get you out of it provided we have half a decent knowledge of the situation and the planar mechanics, and do it almost before you can blink.

Basically, as an example, say someone starts casting a spell at you. *If* we're really on the ball (no pun intended), we can probably figure out what spell they're using, how to stop it, and how to get you close enough to punch them in the taint all between the second and third syllable.

Like I said, that's on some planes, though. Not all of them. Dunno about this one yet.

Dedrin: Hangman can hear you? That's... Intriguing. My flight over here was quite uneventful, so nothing of interest there. I did not know that Hangman is cursed, but i find it unsurprising that he thinks schizophrenic voices in his head are included in this. I have known Hangman for a few cycles now, never has he mentioned a curse, or a previous life, spare for his business, so no. Buta question for you now, has this sort of thing ever happened to you all before?
???: Hey DN! Come to see the baroness?
Dedrin: My thoughts will have to wait; "That I am PK-307, That I am. Is she in?"
PK-307: "Yep, I'll have 'em open the gate for you."
Dedrin: "Thank you."
PK-307: "No problem!"

You mean he never mentioned a curse aside from his immortality, which you explicitly called a curse?

FYI he also said that his curse was put on him because of something he did, and that Baphomet cut off contact with the Surface in order to prevent a "scary monster" from getting down here, which Hangman was responsible for attracting the attention of or releasing or whatever. He also said that he knew Baphomet personally.

Do you actually have any solid evidence that Baphomet is a bad person?

They're perfectly fine and they're just polymorphed as something/someone you don't recognize? That's just a guess, but honestly, would you be able to recognize someone as polymorphed if you were staring them in the eyes? Hell, someone might prank you by polymorphing into Baroness and you'd think it was actually Baroness. Again, just guessing here because you asked a question that WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO ANSWER!!!!! That's an impossibility, bro. Sometimes we need to look to the past in order to help make a better future. As for combat training, I am well versed in most weapons, though I prefer my well-worn dirk to anything else. I keep it cruelly sharpened, as you can no doubt tell from Hangman's noose. If worst comes to worst, nature has provided me with the most rudimentary weapons, tooth and nail. Hand to hand combat happens to be what I am best at, being trained by a soldier imp...

There's also a flail you can make from a wooden ball and some frayed ropes. don't see how but if you don't wish to talk about it I won't push.

But if I can make an observation, Off the little we've seen is it safe to say that you're a career solder, with few friends, and little to no influence who has a grudge against the current ruler for "reasons" and you are half decent in a fight? Because Unless I messed something, while not the worst starting point we're going to have a lot of work to get you anywhere to be in a position to take out Bappy(Baphomet) and even more to be in a position to take over after Bappy bites it.

Oh that reminds me, Hangman said something about the reason he was cursed because he fucked up and something about breaking a law. Anyway idea what he meant by that. He also said something about his fuck up, as in he made a bad deal that almost let something in, something that scared the shit out of everyone to the point where Bappy cut everyone's connections to the surface. You hear anything about that?

Because the easiest way to move up in the world is to make friends and if you're not afraid to piss a lot of people off figuring out what had everyone so scared and how to use it to get you power might be a good way of shaking things up down here.

Not necessarily. I particularly wouldn't take that particular voice as an indication of the state of things. But we WOULD like some sort of answer as to what the hell is going on here. Things are a bit more...confusing than normal.

So let's start with the basics. Who are you, WHAT are you, and why are you chained?

Well, that was such a pleasant conversation. Dickhead.

Okay Dedrin, what do you know about Lazarus? There's some kind of sentient beast trapped somewhere in green chains and it talked to us about failing to change the world. We're not sure if it hacked our conversation or someone else did, but any information you have would be appreciated.

Also, why are you still in bed?

Dedrin: The Lazarus? By that you surely mean the Lazarus Pits. Well, very little is known about the Lazarus Pits near the Palace. They are very very dangerous, so why the palace was built near them, nobody is really sure. Supposedly they are a type of liquified magic, a magic so strong they can burn up anything, even the very soul of a creature. A sentient thing? I find that unlikely. As I've said, the Lazarus would surely destroy anything that falls in, I've tested this myself. Also, what hacked up your conversation? You mean you got interrupted? And what do you mean "why am I still in bed." It's been two cycles since we last spoke. I tried contacting you but you wouldn't respond. I'm just about ready to go to sleep after giving up my forty-fifth time contacting you. This is all very confusing.
>>777463
Oh, Hangman! He was okay after I kicked him, well, after I realigned his neck. Immortality can be useful. We managed to smooth things out after I got him moving again, I simply explained that my dugout was a hidden location, and his silhouette didn't match up to the people who knew of its location. He explained that he saw me fly over here, meaning I have to be more careful if I want to keep this place a secret to the rest of Hell.
>>
No. 777519 ID: d79f26

well, not in the pits, it was bound by green chains, i think someone figure out how to make solid Lazarus and forged chains from it. could be why they built there, they knew if the Lazarus could be harnessed it could make powerful things.

Probably held in place away from the sides with gravity-manipulation. Which would explain the chains - the chains aren't made of Lazarus, the chains are psychic constructs containing Lazarus, possibly as a power source or a last resort when prisoners are released from their chains. All that pure acid, forced and pressurized to the point of solidity, would surely-

Yeah, pretty much. Now do something about it. Look around, see if you can spot a mental representation of chains. You'll need to bind the beast and begin negotiations.
