Here we have a basic planet. It shall become the stage for an epic tale but what? Shall it be a fantasy land? An Alien World? That is for you to decide.

But first, what is it called?

And so, hurling through the great vast emptiness at incalculable speeds is Darian. A beacon of life in a sea of death. Orbited by two small moons; one of gas and one of rock, this planet is nicknamed-"Bu-uts" by its residents their word for dirt/earth. More on them later.

And for the most part, our story shall take us here- The Echidnean Zone.A patch of Darian with land varied from the great tundras to deep lakes. Situated on the equator- The dark rainforest on the great river was said to be a sprawling melting pot for the start of life on Darian. As were the icy mountain that mirrored it on the other side of the Column Ocean. Between them the great Archipelago; fertile and teeming with aviary life. And finally, above them, just visable, is the horn of a great green wasteland. While appearing lush from a distance, the green rock that covers that land is said to be fatal to touch, supposedly even to approach.

Which of these areas should we examine more closely? Furthermore, tell me a little about it; Its name, its history maybe. Do not tell me who lives there.

Let's take a look at the floating archipelago. It's a set of enormous pumice rafts strung together by cables that drift around on the ocean's currents. When the wasteland became uninhabitable, its residents were driven out to sea. During their search for a new home, one of the ships wrecked on a chunk of rock that rammed into it from the side. Rather than crowd the remaining ships, they were left with seeds, supplies, and a promise for rescue when the rest of the fleet struck the mainland.

It was fourty years before the wreck was found again. In that time, the island had circled the globe three times, and the inhabitants had attatched five more islands to the original. The population had tripled, and very few wanted to leave. A few charts of the archipelago's path were given to the "rescuers", and the country of Roterra established contact with the rest of the world.

We're exploring the wasteland, a land called Greenland. Long ago, the whole of this world was home to a great civilization, but in a terrible and climactic war they launched weapons of great power that rendered the great majority of the landmass uninhabitable. Greenland, the only neutral country, was the only land spared the wrath of the terraformer missiles.

>Butt Greenland is one big radioactive rock
Hilarious. Let's call it "Piu-yorK CT" and make a fictional comic starring a 6-armed supervillain from Nuclear Greenland who can vomit sticky-green fiber-glass waste, insults the heroes to the point that they go insane, and has serious personal issues involving self-pity and his inadequate relationship with his bitter, jealous wife.

Start at the lake.

The mountainous heights, peaks and plateaus are full of oddly persistent permafrost. Named, "The Cold at the Beginning of Time," in certain mythology, the ice renders them a place that the brave, foolish or desperate sometimes dare to travel through, but which is mostly a giant graveyard of icily preserved remains from history.
>>

The green rock is actually a clear reflective surface, reflecting green light back from this world's sun. The mysterious deaths of interlopers are probably from sunstroke and/or operating their vehicle while blind. It's probably not intentional. There probably aren't mysterious turreted structures built to concentrate this effect on offshore targets. They probably haven't been there for all of recorded history. Probably.

Our story will take us through the wasteland but as it is uninhabitable- will not begin there.

>>793392
Our story takes us south of the dark green wasteland to the lively floating Archipelago. Formed from a buoyant volcanic rock, these islands traverse the planet with the currant like great ships. The central and most interesting island Roterra is where our character resides. While mostly the island is sparse wood villages, at the centre of Roterra is the Welled Citadel. like a great stone cathedral carved out of the very mother rock, this is where civilains from all the islands come together. Other intersting locations are the village on the Great peak of Arthosa on the neighbouring island of Arthosa, the Face of Rot on Roterra and assorted seaside farms and villages on all eleven of the islands. Please tell us where our story shall take place and a little more about it. (I think we're going for a semi-medieval time period here)

The Face of Rot, so named because of how pimply and scarred the terrain is with swamps and sinkholes, much like the face of a young tyrant who seized power from his parents. Roteric the Mad sent many peasants to die mining this moor for ore, and eventually his mistreatment incited his subjects to revolt.

The Great Peak of Arthosa is a popular tourist retreat, monastery and restaurant. The monks are famed for their mastery of the culinary arts. It is rumored when a master passes away, his students cut him up and serve him at a feast in his honor.

It's probably not a good idea to mine a floating island. Especially considering that all you would find is pumice.

Let's hope that's just a rumor. But I like the idea of starting at that monastery, perhaps as a monk.

The Welled Citadel, is so named because of its abundant fresh water. The water comes from cisterns, which were first established early during settlement because of the tendency for rain to collect in pools there, and then the system was expanded and improved ever since. The Citadel supplies almost all of the fresh water in the islands, for free, thanks to a combination of cumulative innovations in engineering over time, and the centuries of effort by water and wind magi who have gradually enchanted it into one of the most heavily magical places in Darian. Waters drunk regularly in the citadel itself are known to cure many diseases, and also to greatly increase the longevity of long-time residents as much as tripling it over normal. These health benefits led to the establishment of the Hospice of Alms there, where even the destitute are treated and restored to full health free of charge.

The Citadel was the focus of the many civil wars early in Roterra's history because of its fresh water supply. Until they were all defeated and the republic was established, the militant "noble" factions vied for royal supremacy over each other in frequent wars, claiming The Citadel and driving their foes from it in battles which were always scrupulously held outside the walls for fear of damaging the water supply that all depend on. The needs of upkeep and development for the wells caused it to become the center of The Wizards Association, and also the bureaucracy of government, as the islands developed in civil institutions, prosperity and general sophistication.

And overlooking its neighbour Roterra; the Great Peak of Arthosa. Home to a monastery dedicated to finding a divine connection through taste. From atop the monastery the welled citadel can be seen in the distance, the intense hubub of trade muted from atop the spire . Occasionally gems mined from the volcanic rock at the bottom of Welltowne find their way to the monastery but rarely are they bought. Father Matricc- head chef of the monastery keeps a tight ship rejecting possessions "anything that cannot be consumed should not be collected" as he liked to mention. Today a traveller from afar has come to the Monastery. Who they are and what their motivations may be are up to you.

Half-dragon refugee, raised in a monastery.

She was exiled, not just because the father was a dragon, but because the father was a blue dragon, and there are many old prejudices still around about chromatic dragons always being evil. She hopes that her son can escape the same stigma, and that the monks can raise him to prove an exception to the rule.

I like this addition.

The father was one of the chessmasters, and could be seen as good or evil depending on your point of view; the real world is messy that way, and doesn't have such clear dividing lines. With her around, he tried to be better.

Inspector Regolith is chasing a lead in a cold homicide case. The identity of the murderer is still uncertain, but the method of murder and eyewitness reports describe a man who dressed and acted like one of the monks from here. This is a long-shot on a case that has been dead for a year, and Aqua Regolith doesn't even know if the suspect was actually a monk or just faking it. This trip is really just grasping at straws.

This is TGChan.org, not 4chan. There's quests whose last post is in 2016 still on the catalog page, bumping is nowhere near necessary for less than a month hiatus, and even if it goes into the graveyard you can just ask mods to put it back.
