so random question

good idea jumping into the void or bad idea?

I'm guessing bad but since rooms change every time we move into a new room I'm not sure when it would be when we could next enter the void and if we do jump in later I'm worried that if we enter the void anywhere but from here it will be much MUCH harder to track down and find Phymosa.

Aptly put.

So, we can't go back, and forward is cut off by the room being broken and exposed to the void? Jumping into the void without something concrete seems like a bad idea.

:verbicon: ; Okay, Let's Address this one at a time.
>>813822
Okay so you probably aren't up to speed with what's happened? Check Chapter 0, aka RoomQuest.
>>813823
Bad Idea. The room is already compromised as heck, and compromising it further could probably attract further unsavory attention. I'm stealthing this shit all up.
>>813826
All sorts of shit. Those big Fish Skeletons are structural Concept Cores, aka the concept of structures. They don't really fuckin' react to anything. There's also those things with yellow eyes. Gonna call 'em Grues cause they can't occupy white space ever. Gotta stick to the dark. There's also a bunch of other things I haven't seen yet. I'm like 30 panels old fellas, I haven't seen everything, but I can pretty much guarentee that as soon as I do see something, I'll know what it is. I'm what you would call a Vacuum Concept, aka stuff tries to fill the void. What it is specifically depends, but I attract information.
>>813832
Might not have a choice regardless, this is the last Room in this House, which is like. A room system. But it's very bad idea. I don't have any way to move in a non-cemented system. ...Aka I need shit to walk on.
>>813835
Working on it.
>>813881
Sums it up pretty nicely.
>>813899
Harder than it sounds. Those Structure Cores don't really react to anything. You could stab 'em and they wouldn't give a shit. But might be a good idea if we could figure out how to direct one.
>>813919
Survival is just fine as you can see. I just adjust visually. Moving on the other hand. Much harder.
>>813944
Do I look like the business type to you? You'd find me dead sooner than in a tie, let alone a whole suit.

And for FURTHER reference, I'm not gonna address all of these at once again unless I go for another long stint of just staring grumpily into the void.
>>
No. 814023 ID: 3abd97

You appear to have left an afterimage burned into the wall. Should we be concerned about that? Is that a sign of the room further degrading, perhaps?

>I'm what you would call a Vacuum Concept, aka stuff tries to fill the void. What it is specifically depends, but I attract information.
Well, that's... fantastically useful actually. Go you.

>Need a way to move in the void
If we found (or attracted) something for you to eat or absorb, could you grow features suited for void locomotion?

:verbicon: ; Iiiit would not help, actually. I am geared towards absorbing information. This is about as advanced as I'll look. Phymosa just sort of ate shit and grew as a person as a result. Which is how Thoughtform Cores tend to go. Also that was just me being lazy and not pulling all of me along properly. Room's as fucked as it's gonna get.

Well, if you have the capability to leave a portion of you behind, before pulling yourself along, then you can easily move in the void. Gaining momentum as you catch up to yourself, or stopping completely if you exist all at once. Just don't ever do that last bit or you may get stuck in the void...

I think these are images of yourself taking on various forms that're capable of traveling the Void.

The "sperm" is you with your legs pulled in and making wiggling motions to move forward.

The "frog" is just you with your legs out and your using them to propel yourself forward.

The "helicopter" is you.....spinning your tail like a helicopter's propeller to move forward?! You can do that?!

Well, that last one's got my vote! Helicopter tail to victory!

:verbicon: ; Whoop, Helicopter. Looks like we stopped pretty close to one of those Structural Concepts, too, we could probably hop on if we wanted. Gonna be frank here, from this point I don't actually know where to go. I DO know however that wherever you suggest I go will probably for some reason end up being the right one... >I don't actually know where to go. I DO know however that wherever you suggest I go will probably for some reason end up being the right one...
So what you're saying is we'll find Phymosa, no matter which way we go, right?

That's a relief, now we don't have to worry about choosing the wrong path!

>What do?
I guess it would be easier and faster if we hitched a ride on that Structural Concept over there.

Actually, before we go over there, could you please focus on information needed to lead a Structural Concept around? It won't do us any good to go over there and not be able to get it to move!
>>
No. 814247 ID: 3abd97

>from this point I don't actually know where to go
Try filling yourself with information on Phymosa's location. Or failing that, information on how to loacte her.

And sure, hitch a ride on the structure concept for the moment.

...if you really wanted, you could try filling yourself with the information on how to get a reaction from the structural concepts.

> The Catlike Core jumps over to the Structural Concept Core, and then jumps along it's back before settling somewhere along the spine. They relax as soon as they do so.

:verbicon: Let's see. Firstly, if only that place existed. Secondly, Like I said before, structural concepts don't really react to anything. They just float around, like Mola Mola. Useless. Thirdly, If I knew where Phymosa was or how to locate her I wouldn't be asking you. Trying to skip the bulk of the story immediately is kinda borin' anyway. Again though, wherever we decide to go is probably right? ...Once you lot decide where.

Well, okay, I can think of two obvious places to explore in the void.

The first is directly behind the room, on the opposite side of the window. If they were back there, you can't see them from where you started.

The second is to just continue on a line tangent to the room, trying to get as far as it as possible.

814374

:verbicon: ; No, guys, I. Ugh. Okay so a few things to better clarify. One, You cannot influence these structural concepts. It's like telling a building foundation to do something, it doesn't actually do anything. They're literally the concepts of foundational structures, shit like immovable rocks, concrete, skeletons. Flesh and muscle go around the skeleton, but the skeleton itself doesn't actually change shape. The flesh moves the skeleton with it but the skelton itself is not changed by the movements. If you have influenced a foundation you have verily fuckethed up. Remember, metaphysical?

Secondly, y'all aren't actually giving me a place to mcfucking GO. You're saying go direction in the void. That just leads to MORE VOID. You aren't asking questions as to how shit works or it do. I don't know stuff until you ask it! I would tell you otherwise! I need an actual place to go, thus far the closest to a place I could go has been >>814235
Which doesn't give me enough to go off of! Land of Highly Attractive Cat Owners could mean so many different places.
>>
No. 814384 ID: 91ee5f

>>814374
We did give you a place to go! We said go to where Phymosa was taken! And then you immediately said no!

So you need to make up your mcfucking mind and quit contradicting yourself!

But, fine, you want places to go?! How about I list off a few and you decide where you can go?!

Go to a sushi restaurant!

Go to a dungeon!

Go to Hell!

Go to a swimming pool!

Go to a pet store!

Go to an instruction manual that gives us clear and easy to understand instructions for idiots because all of us don't know exactly how to do this!!!!!

There, are you happy now?! You wanted places?! I gave you some places! Now pick one already!

>The void visibily, rapidly distorts, until a location that is seemingly shifting ever so slightly, constantly, seems to arise from the aether. In the distance, screams of horrible agony can be heard, ringing ever so slightly through the tepid air like the chimes of a bell. The heavy scent of sulfer lies low over the environment, despite it's oddly reddish hue. The stone underfoot is oddly painful to walk upon; a mixture of painfully hot and painfully cold at the same time, like tiny knives being driven underfoot. The feeling of being watched is unmistakable.

:verbicon: ...Hell. Hell was the only concrete place in that list. ...If you confused about how something works, such as, I dunno, how one travels in the void, so on, etc, ask. If you ask, I can accrue knowledge and then tell you after. I cannot do that until you ask. ...But until further reference, because you have given me Hell, we are in Hell.

:verbicon: Mars? Mars. Mars works. I'll be here at mars.

>There is a distinct lack of air after a short moment, before the floor is no longer quite as painful, instead just... rocky. There is a distinct, rusty sort of feeling to the soil, as though standing on rust itself. The sound of dust storms ever so faintly roaring in the distance is also palpable, but, for the moment, while standing upon the red planet, the stars themselves seem to glimmer slightly brighter.

:verbicon: Here's Mars. It's very... real. ...Alright so, question asker, thank you, that's allowed me to glean some information. It appears that Travelling through the void itself requires working like a fish or frog or something else aquatic, but actually going places requires a set location in mind. Hell, Mars, The Garden of Eden, places with firm names or ideas. It's the difference between going to 'a target' and 'The Target Nearby My House Specifically' so on. Anywhere from fiction, nonfiction, mythology, is valid. Heck, i could even go t' other Quest Threads, though that's probly a dick move.

> If you are not enjoying yourself or becoming frustrated, you do not have to participate. This is supposed to be at least mildly enjoyable for all involved.

>Simply put, I ask that you give me specific places to go so I have something to base my art style off of. Simply telling me to 'go left' or 'go right' in what I have firmly established as a completely empty void gives me personally nothing to go off of, which would mean yet more panels of the protagonist in nothing but white space. I'm not sure what benefit we can gain from going to various named locations. Will you gain power from absorbing a lot of information by traveling to locations that have lots of information?

What counts as information, to you? Would a server room work? Or a magazine stall? A library? Can you get information from living beings? I feel like if you went to a populated area you could be harmed by the initial reactions from people who don't know what you are.

Let's try a library, since it's low population density and full of possibly useful forms of information. How about Wren Library?
