The Camera switches between rooms as Jason and Bane progress, Cid tells you this is because the system locks onto specefic people to moniter.

This means you can't scout ahead for Jason and Bane, but it does mean you can keep track of their progress.

No useful suggestions right now, but I do have a theory. There are two possible approaches to explain this freaky mask thing.

1. It's magic or something else equivalently inexplicable.

2. It's interfacing with our mysterious 'implants' and making us hallucinate the changes that we're seeing. (Still a bit shaky because of the camera involvement, but possible.)

Go into sick bay, wander into room beyond. Put on mask, access bizarro world beyond no wall.

Inserting the key, the safe door soon moves out of the way, revealing another, but different ODD MASK.
