Hm? Glass on the ground?

...no, this looks like part of Master Muschio's crystal ball. It must have chipped when he dropped it.

Oh shit. Umm, hello. We didn't know breaking a piece off worked like that.

We are the Orb of Infinite Psyche, a storm of disembodied voices and minds here to solve all your problems. Or, well, I guess we're the Shard of Finite Psyche now.

Excellent, glad the orb works this way. Greetings Finesse! What's on the agenda?

I s'pose a shard of infinity is still infinity, just by virtue of the concept.
Hey there, Gobbo. Guess what? Your boss is crazy, and we're mostly to blame for it.
>>
No. 26252 ID: f44349

Well, HELLO there~
Ahehem.

WE ARE THE ORB OF INFINITE PSYCHE- er... well we're a tiny PIECE of the orb of infinite psyche. AT ANY RATE! We infinite horde of voices exist to guide and aid whomever currently holds us... most of the time. Sometimes we just want to have a little fun. Mushie has NO sense of humor though...
>>

...I heard a crack.

He dropped us, didn't he? Goddamn butterfing-

...Oh, hell. The gobbo chick has us. Uhm. Some of us? I don't know, no one's ever broken us before.

Erm...hi?

The chip deary, the chip is part of an object known as the orb of infinite psych, Muschio dropped it on the floor and this chip broke off resulting in what you have now. And yeah those thoughts racing, that's us not you.
>>
No. 26265 ID: 9e9b47

Don't think about it. It might work differently with just a shard anyhow.

So, why not go about your daily business. How do you feel about working here so far? Venting your feelings may be good.

Okay. Ah, introductory course!

Hi, what you've just picked up is a shard of the *ahem* ORB OF INFINITE PSYCHE. We're a magical object imbued with the thoughts of dozens upon dozens of voices, some helpful, some not, others in between. It's like having an invisible friend. But y'know, actually getting replies back.

You can talk to us, we can talk to you...it's a good system. You're an intellectual kind of sort, right? Think of it like having a big roundtable of people to help you work out issues, dozens of minds able to provide you with input on how to deal with a situation.

We also moonlight as a reminder "book!"

So... you mean you're this little piece of crystal?
No wonder I was having such weird thoughts. Not for nothing, but it's kind of hard to distinguish you from me.
It's like having all my thoughts enunciated, even the quiet ones.

Is this what Master Muschio feels all the time?

So many questions...

My life goals? Dunno. I like working with stuff, I want to be a better tinker. I want to invent a lot of things. What else is there to say? I think I'm on the right track. Got a sponsor now, at least.

My past? Not much to tell. Grew up in Gobbo village. Played around with trinkets we'd get traded. Got into clockwork. That sort of stuff. Nothing worth talking about.

As for this skull... I have no idea what Master Muschio expects me to do. I've never worked with bone. Never made armor. This isn't my thing.

Not a problem! Work with what you do know.

Start simple, we need an item to cover the head and protect a few key points, jaw, nose, eyes, and of course the top of the head.

Latches and hinges are probably one of your specialties, you can figure out how to make that work.

Just take what you do know, and apply it as best you can to what you are trying to do here!

I don't really know, to be honest. Though he - or at least the part of him not contained within us - would not say those things to you. He's pretty much content with a working relationship, as far as I can see. That's the thing about the orb, pretty much every possible viewpoint is represented. Would you believe, when he first brought us to this dungeon, he let us think he was some kind of adventurer?!
We give him the best advice we've got, and he doesn't give anything back - he didn't even think to ask if we were hurt after he dropped us!
Sorry to drop all this on you, it's just - it's just that it's hard being an orb sometimes. Especially when you have no one to talk to but your own infinite voices.

Hell, if it's venomous, we could breed more of them and make any of our spiky traps even more deadly.

As for a suggestion, I agree that we should see if either kobold has experience working with bone. Also, do we have any left-over skeletons from clearing this place out? Those combined with the cattle-like skull would make a nice skull throne.

What kind of "Big" projects can you tinker, Finesse? This IS a dungeon. What big Tinkering Creations can you make that would really put a capstone on the dungeon some day? Doorway to Hell? Lava-Moat? Voidstone Calculation Engine? MOON LASER?

Other than plans for Dungeon-capstone projects... what small-scale projects would you be able to make for Muschio while he's away? He could really use something that would let him detect magic.

Well, a lever which floods the area in front of the cave with lava would be a classic. It might be a bit beyond our current capabilities though. We could start by plugging that little hole in the wall, I suppose. We might want to examine the mechanism in the gate in that tunnel in the back.

I have no idea if that's within Finnesse's abilities, but it would be extremely useful if it is.

Also, the poison-dart launcher sounds like a good idea. It needs to be easy to use surreptitiously, though. And if it lacks either decent range or good accuracy, it may end up inferior in practicality to a small dagger sewn inside a sleeve.

Just get rid of those boots and I'd be happy with this one.

Several of you need to burn in hell, though. I'm looking at you, 27550.

Yes yes, Muschio the dapper swashbuckling pseudopirate lord. He does not seem to have the stomach to be a world ending monster, but a dashing rogue? The sort of evil mastermind that still makes the ladies swoon? Perfect for our mutual lord. Sinister, but suave. Chaotic, yet in control. Lord Muschio: deposed prince, dreaded fencing master, handsome devil.

(Plus, with piratical leanings encouraged in your master, it might give you an excuse to build an airship Finesse. Just think about it. AAAIIRSHIIIP.)

I highly encourage swashbuckler Muschie.

I believe he would be dashing.
