I'm shoved and tumble back over a large pipe resting at ground level, narrowly avoiding the blade as it comes slicing through the back wall. My leaf wasn't so lucky. The wall is swiftly cut to pieces and falls back into a chamber behind it.

:Maskedman: "Mine apologies. T'was not mine intent to ambush thee. Though slaying tis indeed what I had in store for thee."

What the hell is going on here?

As an android, I am incapable of utilizing or even detecting levels of SPIRIT ENERGY. That is an ability only useable by skilled mortals or yokai.

It would seem my HUD was displaying a graphical error. My system has been switched to NORMAL MODE.

The VERTICAL LIFT disappears into a small compartment in the ceiling. I do not believe I would fit through. I depart and advance to the EAST. The path is long and leads me on a winding upward path until I eventually exit through a door onto what appears to be the roof.

That looks like a SCREEN on the machine up ahead. Hopefully we can read the language it is in.

Can your COMPONENT ASSIMILATION ability be used to control larger machines, if they are sufficiently complicated and vulnerable?

Say if your AI was transplanted and fully integrated into an organic brain and its body of a mortal/yokai, could you, in theory, use and manipulate SPIRIT ENERGY?
Just a stupidly hypothetical situation, but still, I can almost believe it's possible.

Careful of flying things! I can't tell if that's a ring of floating rocks, a far off galaxy, or perhaps some camouflaged creature to your 2 o'clock.

It is a command console for the device it is attached to. It appears to be in the language of the Mainland. It would seem that this device is... What? That's impossible! A SUSANOO MISSILE LAUNCHER? And it's equipped with a KUSANAGI-TSURUGI MULTI-WARHEAD? How on earth did the demons get a hold of this!? It is one of the military's most closely guarded secret weapons! The console displays several targets for the warhead across the mainland.
>>
No. 405816 ID: e3f578

So are you just ignoring that douchebag up top there, he just completely blends in with the scenery, or is he part of the STANDARD MISSLE LAUNCHER CONSTRUCTION and this is just total common knowledge?

I mean, seriously, everyone knows a missile launcher needs a caged buckhead... thing on top of it!

Uh, Manewis, it was a closely guarded secret weapon a century ago. It would have since been put into more common production. So it's not as impossible for them to capture one, once you think about it. Still bad news for those targets on the mainland, though. Start looking around for the best place to stick that HEAT OAR to disable the launcher.

Look up and greet the bot on top of the launcher. Isn't he the one from the bottom of the trash compactor? Ask him how he got out of there.
>>
No. 405837 ID: b6edd6

...You know, this warhead might be a viable way of destroying (or at least dealing major damage to) the island. All you would need to do is sabotage its ability to leave the launcher (perhaps with some strategic HEAT-OAR welding or fuel siphoning) then 'launch' them, preferably from a distance or with some means of escape.

Still, in the short term you could damage its utility as a weapon without effecting our purposes by damaging that fin on the missile (if that is part of the missile rather than the launcher, it is a bit hard to tell from here).

Bucket-head over there is fond of announcing himself before attacking, so he won't be a direct threat until that point.

Ah yes, I did not account for the peculiar time flow of this island... He is indeed the masked robot from the WASTE DISPOSAL.

Who do you wait for

and so to skip a frame ahead, here's my response
"You wait for a Ninja to do an honorable duel with you? What are you a naive fool, the Ninja profession doesn't have honor, that's the point of being a Ninja, they're sent for missions that the honorable people won't touch or cannot succeed with honorable methods. The real important stuff for when failure isn't an option, in absolute terms. He is not going to show."

Hey, I have to ask, how does your AI handle paradoxes?

You aren't looking for a fight, so lower your weapon, introduce yourself, and ask for his name. Once the introductions are out of the way, ask who he's waiting for, and maybe how the demons got their hands on a SUSANOO MISSILE LAUNCHER.

Check your tracker again for Kunoichi's distress beacon. It's not emanating from this masked 'droid, is it?

:manewis:"I am not looking for a fight. Especially if you are who I believe you are. My designation is Manewis, a Mark 4 Ninjitsu Operations Bionic Infiltrator. What is your designation?"

:maskedman:"Mine designation is Sentient Armored Melee Utility Robotic Artificial Intelligence unit, Kojiro."

It is as I thought. The android who observed my battle with Musashi was none other than the legendary Kojiro.

:manewis:"Who do you wait for?"

:maskedman:"One of thine fellow intruders. A young human male with a penchant for ridiculous japery. We hath scheduled a duel atop this roof."

:manewis:"You are waiting for a duel with a ninja? Do you believe he will take such a matter honorably and come to face you when you are expecting it?"

:maskedman:"Thou were honorable in your duel with Musashi, were you not?"

:manewis:"Hmm... yes. How did the demons come into possession of a SUSANOO MISSILE LAUNCHER?"

:maskedman:"I doth not know of what thou speaks. If thou art referring to this apparatus beneath me, I am afraid I cannot help you, for I doth not possess such knowledge."

:manewis:"Why is that you and Musashi, two legendary heroes, have aligned yourselves with the demons you were sent to slay?"

:maskedman:"Mine motivations are not the business of intruding ninja. Should we do battle, I shall tell thee my tale. For t'would only be right for thee to know why thou hast been slain by mine blade. Musashi, I cannot say. Contact with mine sister unit had been lost for several decades upon this island."

:manewis:"How can you expect the mainland to not send infiltrators to attempt thwarting the island when you have allied yourself with demons who bring ruin to the world!?"

:maskedman:"Retaliation tis only the final throws of a dying animal. Of course the mainland t'would send an attempt to thwart the island's goals. Without intruders, such as thee, mine purpose t'would be naught."

Kunoichi's beacon is not coming from Kojiro. It is coming from below, and to the east still.

All Mainland mass production androids, such as myself, are stamped with a manufacturer's seal on our power cores, located within our chests. They can be ejected for easy access during maintenance. It is possible that the legendary prototypes could have similar seals, but uncertain.

:Manewis:"I shall take my leave S.A.M.U.R.A.I. Perhaps you may want to inspect your Power Core at some point. I feel it may be enlightening."

I head to the other end of the roof. There is a door with a ramp leading down. I traverse several chambers, ignoring off shoots, following the path I suspect will be the most direct route to Kunoichi's distress beacon. Odd. I don't recall ever coming to this wing of the island before... Why would Kunoichi be here?

Hold up. Check the window for hostiles before continuing down the hall. Do you have low-light or infrared optics? If not, just shine a light in there.

"R&D?" Research and Development. It's likely that what Kunoichi was carrying when he died was brought here for analysis, including the distress beacon.

Do you have an auxiliary coolant port? Maybe there is something in the R&D labs that can be jerry-rigged as a substitute for your lost cooling banner. A cryogenic gas canister, perhaps?

The glass blocks my infrared, and the light in this room is interfering with my night vision. I smash the tinted glass using my SUPERIOR STRENGTH to get a better look in the room. There appears to be various machinery piled about, or hanging from the ceiling. The largest object in the room rests on the far wall. It seems to have some manner of tarp draped over it. The tengu is much stronger than I. I am forced to disengage the MAGNETIC GRAPPLE and retract it or risk the cable snapping as it grabs me! This could be a problem...

Mangna grapple back onto the island! it's a long way down!

use your Magnet Grapple Launcher to grab the side of the wall and use the momentum of being thrown to fling yourself back onto the island.

If you've lost your grip on your HEAT OAR, use the MAGNETIC GRAPPLE to recover it. Then fire the MAGNETIC GRAPPLE at the metal exterior of the building to the right/east (from our perspective) such that your outward momentum carries you in an arc to the right/east and down. If you cna, reel the MAGNETIC GRAPPLE in while doing that so you don't end up too far down.

Once you got your footing against the wall, you can jam your HEAT OAR in horizontally to give yourself a place to stand while disengaging and firing the MAGNETIC GRAPPLE to a new position, then pull the HEAT OAR out when you swing forward.

Of worry is that the Mecha Tengu didn't crash to the ground when it lost one of its wings. It may still be flight capable, just at a reduced level. And even if it can't fly anymore, it can still lean out of that hole in the wall and fling whirlwinds at you.

It is indeed a long way down. A strong ocean breeze blows, making it difficult to keep my footing against the wall. I still have a grip on the HEAT OAR.

Damn we can't fight him out here and our battery is getting to low for my liking. See if you can teleport to that door just under him to get back inside, but if you still need to wait for your teleport ability to recharge then see if you can't just slip under him. The last thing you want to do is fight a flying opponent in the fucking sky

Hrm... He controls the air through that fan of his... But I wonder at his ability to multitask?
Here's my idea. Don't just teleport at him, but keep him busy Deflecting your shuriken and Kunai shots to hit you, if his wind works that way.

The tengu appears to have rooted itself to the wall. I do not believe it is still capable of flight.

>>512382
My teleporter is still recharging from the last time I used it. I cannot teleport again for several minutes.

:tengu:"IYOOOOOOO! *TONK* *TONK* *TONK*"

Uwah! It is attempting to blow me off of the wall. The MAGNA-GRAPPLE holds strong though keeping me tethered to the island's metal hull, but my progress will be halted unless I can neutralize the tengu, I believe.

How long is the Magnet Grapple Launchers tether? Can you lower yourself behind that doorway below you so you are out of the air attack. And then possibly melt through the door with your heat oar.
>>

Getting through the lower door is looking like a good bet. That way it will need to pursue us into less open terrain.
>>
No. 512932 ID: 9ddf68

well it looks like that door just below you is sticking out a bit, you could try and use the exposed wall as cover from his next attack.

I lower myself down behind the outcropping and swing around to the door. The Tengu cannot draw a line to me from its current location. Now I just need to cut through the door quickly before-
