Hello everyone! It's been around six days since that strange dream. I haven't asked Shabin about it, it might be touchy. I mean, she told me she's never been outside? Anyways, while we've been traveling, I've practiced my soul magic!

I can now send souls, both talent and advice, to anyone in close range. But, if I have a good connection with someone, I think I can send it from anywhere! So, I can talk to Shabin and Fraga at any time, and most likely Tae too, but we haven't talked a whole lot so I'm not sure. Also maybe Voxol, Chop, and Kradis, but I'm not confident about it.

We've just entered what is officially human territory. It's guarded against the forests we're in against potential threats, but Tae's said she was pretty sure kobolds are accepted inside without hassle. She's off hunting right now, but said she would catch up before we get to the forest's edge.

Tell him you can't sense any magic in it. Ask how it was imbued. Suggest perhaps that the nectar it was dipped in was actually elven blood, since it was imported from dwarven lands. Dwarves don't like elves, right? Then pull it out and look over it a bit. Judge how easily you'll be able to swing it around.

This is how we start haggling. Point out flaws in the item (or his sales pitch) to him, and offer a price that's lower than he gave you. Like, say 8 gold.

Why? Don't waste your money. It is so... ugh.

Do you NEED a weapon? I mean, you can throw fireballs. And Shabin is already good at melee fighting, so you don't necessarily have to be good at that as well.

If you REALLY REALLY have to have something. I suggest a regular sword (preferably a short sword, so it's more for your size) Most other weapons wouldn't lend themselves to your size, because you need more leverage.

You should compliment that man's fine wizard hat. Truly, it is the mark of your profession.

Ask about some more advanced healing magic- perhaps a fast healing spell, so that you can cast it in advance and its magic will cure any wounds received later? Or regeneration in case someone loses a limb? Or curing poison?

Learning to block scrying would be good, because of the hat.

Getting more skilled with illusions, so that you can use your invisibility spell with less focus and maybe cloak more than just you, would be quite handy.

And of course advancing your skill with throwing fireballs would be all to the good.

Tell her she doesn't want to know. Or just pretend she didn't ask the question- just go on to describe more about the hat's behavior.

Such as that it's the one on your back, and you can't destroy it or leave it somewhere- it attempts to reappear on your head afterwards. Also the scrying effect is stronger when you put it on willingly (do not demonstrate that), and it drains your mana slightly to cast the scrying spell.

Now, the basis of destroying a scrying object is that we must know the link both ways in order to severe it. As such, there is very little difference between ability to scry and ability to defend or destroy scrying. For a brief instant we will actually be turning the flow of scrying between the object, in this case the hat, and the viewing receptacle. In that instant we will destroy it before the viewing receptacle re-aligns."

Ninja vanishing, shurikens get! The ninja will ambush, then run upstairs! The burial chamber is upstairs, but branches off from the main tower. Therefore, options are to visit the chamber, or go to the main tower's peak or to flee the tower as a whole.

I do not know how to attempt to scry backwards! The hat has been destroyed, and so there is no scrying object back at the mage tower. I must assume I am stuck here, for the time being.

Aww. I was expecting someone else to be buried here. But take heart, Chee. If that's your original body in there, it just means that nobody can steal your soul. You're still yourself. Maybe after the liches are all dead, we can see if it's possible to get your old body healthy again, and put your soul back in it.

As for the necromancer, he noted that he can just dispel enchantments and can see invisible stuff. So imbuing's right out, and so is Invisibility.

Ninja dash back and try to catch him on the stairwell so you can jump/walldash over him. Casting strength on yourself may enable you to move faster.

I should clarify. The souls that give me talent, give me the ability to be so good, but I don't rely on them entirely! If I were to lose the great healer inside me, I would lose some of my healing power, but it wouldn't be as though I couldn't heal anymore! I would still be quite strong. Although, I may never improve again afterwards.

Also, Tom is like the carrier of souls for me. But when I send souls to other people, I create a temporary bubble that shifts between people and gives them select souls, so I never have sent Tom.

And yes I can send my souls to living people, but I'm pretty sure my body is dead! So maybe if I reanimated it and... that would be weird. But I don't know how to reanimate it so it doesn't matter. I should ask the dragon some things, though."

"Hey, dragon! Um.. why would you want to resurrect me? I'm the phylactery, right?"
>"Correct. Because our lich and his enemy lich are both inside of you, our lich cannot properly slay the other, and vice versa. So, we must switch phylacteries. There are many ways, yet all are complex. Our lich knows how to pick apart souls upon your proper resurrection. He himself will be moved to a proper phylactery, the enemy lich slain, and your own soul to your original vessel. With this, all other souls will be freed, and you will live as a real kobold for the rest of your mortal days. I say leave the corpse, and escape. They can't resurrect you while you're here, but one day you will want that to happen so that the liches could die. Or you could find a way to manipulate souls finely enough to separate the lich out on your own.

This would be a shortcut only to making the liches vulnerable, which would then leave you vulnerable. Not a good trade.

I don't intend to kill you. I intend to absorb you, and with your aid I will defeat your rival and the lich king."

Ask questions then kill him anyway for shits and giggles.

Tom feels like he's doing a happy jig inside me. It's actually a little uncomfortable.

"Why did you want to be the lich king?"

>"The current is insane. It feels like every year, his priorities change. It has been chaos for other liches for decades, I would simply keep things more orderly. I did not have ambitions to take over the world, or anything of the sort.

"What now then, Lich? Terrorize the countryside, give up and sit here, king of nothing?"

>"No, only death. If you kill me, I do not have the heart to resurrect. You have gotten lucky with me, the other lich does not know when he's been defeated. I said if you killed me, I would resurrect. That was assuming I had anything to stay for. I do not, anymore, and so you may kill me if you wish, and I will let my soul rot and disappear from within you. That is very depressing, but perhaps I can live on through you. I will break the barrier between Tom and I, and he may devour me. From there I will give you great necromantic power, and you may do as you will, giving my power your purpose. It may sound evil, but it is not as though it must be. Many subjects of mine willingly had their bodies reanimated to serve beyond death."

Walk up and hug him
"It's alright, I know. Magic is a tool that's neither good nor evil, and I'll show that to the world. I'll defeat your rival and the lich king, and perhaps when this is over I can manifest you again."

"Had you used different methods of getting me here, you may have been able to persuade me to help you. Unfortunately, you chose poorly, and this is where you ended up. Don't you just love karma?"

If he willingly gives his soul to us, we should take it.

...I just realized that if he just lost the battle to become the Lich King, then the other lich will attain that title. Will that make them more powerful? Will they automatically gain the ability to lead the other liches to do stuff? What would they do, in that case? We should ask that, to know what to expect.

Also ask if there's any chance that you could become the Lich King, and make sure necromancy could never be used for evil.

Hug Necromancer.

While doing so, slowly thrust your healing-powered swordstaff into his heart.

It would be so cool.

Chee will need all the power she can get to defeat the other lich. Take his soul and thank him for it. Ask him how the other lich's barrier can be brought down so he himself cannot be resurrected. Also a map or way to get back to shabin would be good.

No see there are three.
Lich King the Mad, who built Chee for the lulz.
Emobird, who we are speaking to.
Whoever Necrobold works for.

Agree on asking about becoming King though.

Well sure, but after that? I'm just wondering if Chee can *ever* become the Lich King as she is now, or if we'll have to resurrect her before going through whatever stuff is needed to become a lich or whatever.

"Will the other lich become lich king? And, could I be lich king?"

>The other lich has a clearer shot, as the phylactery is no longer shared, though I am out of the way anyway. However, he must still overthrow the current king, and that is no easy feat. The Lich King has toyed with us more than fought us. It is possible to be Lich King yourself, but you should not aim so high as you are, as attempting to become a lich may be complicated for the likes of you.

"If you acted differently, I may have helped you, but now..."

>"I doubt it would be different. We will never know for certain. I should be sorry for your friends I have injured or killed. But I am not, my ambitions were greater than they, as cruel as it may sound. I do not have regrets. Show the other lich my power, and give the King regret at making his creation that fought back."

This is not what I had in mind, but the first lich is gone, and I have his power. Most of his creations are crumbling, but I do sense some stable ones independent of his power, I'll ask them about maps and maybe other things. I should go back to the mages tower and study different kinds of magic eventually as well. I'll tell Shabin and Tae of course where I am at, and we'll decide a meeting place later. But for now, I have to get my bearings! Maybe I can teleport back, maybe I can get a dragon to ride on.

You've got a lot of work here.
You have his knowledge, so set about cleaning up the various magic things that would detect as evil. Besides the minions, I mean.

Find out if there are any settlements nearby. If there are then craft minions and send them to inform people of the change in management.

I wonder if white necromancy is a thing. There must be some benign uses at least, but if not we'll just have to try and not be overly vile.

>>332217
Zombies can destroy zombies well enough but it sounds like a messy affair. We should see if we can subvert necromancy to anti-necromantic ends.

We need to clean this place up, yeah. Also make it perfectly clear to your constructs that they are not allowed to attack anyone on their own under any circumstances. They will flee before any hostility unless they are under your supervision.

Start finding books and practicing what stuff you can do with the resources on-hand. See if you can manipulate your souls to put them into constructs.
>>

we should talk to the stable constructs. if the litch was telling the truth about many of them agreeing to serve beyond death they may take issue with you killing there old boss. also, maybe redecorate.

You know, he created an item that teleported you here. Using his power, you should be able to teleport back, grab your friends, and then bring your friends and yourself to the tower. Then do the same with the others still in the village. This place is probably much more secure then their old home, and there will be paladins looking for what happened to their missing champion. Relocating everyone here might let them develop in a more peaceful area.
