Pixel adventure have crashed!

>buy and install the modern remake of pixel adventure and whine about it being too different from the original.
The remake was never released outside of [insert country/planet/universe here] and never translated to [insert language/religion/bird here]. There is a fan translation but it only work on pirated software [insert Avast/me/hearties! here] and thus highly illegal which is punishable by having your [planet/body part/verb] being the victim of orbital [bombardment/glassification/butterfly] by the United Corps of the Universe without a trial. The fan translation also sucks balls.

Loading last auto save…

You awaken by yourself, standing in a dark room. The pungent stench of mildew emanates from the wet dungeon walls. You wish that you knew how to cast magic missile so you should attack the evil darkness that surrounds you.

A powerful headache is the evidence that you either drank too much alcohol yesterday or played chicken race whit a solid wall. You have either way no recollection where you are or how you got here. Or any other memory of whom you are for that matter. You probably suffer from laser guided amnesia.

In the small room you see.
- An old rotten door that is obviously locked for some weird reason.
- An old rusty hatchet
- A few empty kegs
- Two bottles of unknown substance.
- A wall of text that’s hopefully will disappear now that we have begun.

Utilize a save hacking utility to put yourself back to where you were just before Graven died. Resist temptation to give yourself anything extra to make things easier, well maybe a few thousand experience wouldn't hurt.

...open the options, set message text and battle speed as fast as they can go, set cinematics to skip, and then replay everything identically up to the point where we had Kevros frozen, exactly the way we did before.

If the game uses the text parser, you can actually just copy-paste in every command we every made in the old threads all at once, and then walk away as the game plays itself from buffer. I mean, it works in nethack, right?

So... we're back in the present? And you guys decided to kill some time roleplaying?

...I'm going to rule wizard here and say that roleplaying is basically the same as sleeping. You don't move much, your adventure is basically a dream, and what happens in game / in dream is sort of random and doesn't make a lot of sense.

Therefore, we slept, and we should get our level up.

Let’s see… Maggy was a wizard, Kevy a female Kevy, Olof a druid, Sonya a sorcerer, Helga a cleric, Hans a barbarian and Graven was a stupid sexy female rogue… speaking of Graven…

:lizbeth: Hey, Graven, when is that flying city thing going to breach the surface.
:maggy: He says in about 10 minutes.
:lizbeth: Well then, let’s start planning how we are supposed to get onboard. I think I was able to connect to a teleported inside it.
:sonya: So… teleport the explosive we got there and then ourselves?
:olof: The explosion would probably ruin the teleporter. If you really want a bang then let’s drop the Wizard academy on it. That will surly leave a crater.
:kevros: Or we should just walk there? I mean, it isn’t really moving that fast and I’m sure it got a lot of access ways on its side…
:Helga: Here’s the Cheetos.
:hans: And mountain dew, ja? Oh, and darlings? How about we send the explosions with the teleporter, then drop the wizard academy and as a finale jump down the resulting crater mission impossible style? That would be fabulous, ja?

Because we were too dumb to remember we had that ability and rule lawyer it into blocking the clown. Basically, the clown said we were mind controlled, and instead of resisting, we let her.

Players unfortunately have to be there own advocate- if the DM forgets to apply a rule when he or she should, and you don't catch them, it's your own fault.

It's like that evil rule in monopoly that where you technically only have to pay rent if the owner of a property actually remembers to ask for it in time. People will hate you if you pull that trick, but it's perfectly legal.

Rule laywer! Lizbeth doesn't know counter spell! Therefor the duplicates shouldn't either. The stop sphere should have worked.

If that doesn't work, force a screen transition from overworld to battle mode. Then you'll only be facing 9 enemy Lizbeths at once due to the screen size constraints. Much better odds. You just have to bear the tedium of 11 consecutive identical fights. Of course, if you can't handle repetitive battles, what are you doing playing an rpg?

Say hi to Jacob. Ask him what he's trying to do here exactly. All the other sins are dead, isn't that all he wanted? Also tell Sonya to stay out of the fight if one happens since she'll get beheaded by Jacob if she fights him. If Jacob casts Stop, counterspell it.

Also Liz, if it comes to it, you can destroy Oracle fairly easily to make the castle stop flying. Speaking of Oracle, what the hell is that icon of Clown's face doing in that monitor?

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on this. We KNOW that the windows into the past were really windows into the past, because by influencing them we changed the future. He just contradicted like half of them with what he just said. Besides, if he's not Jacob, where's Wrath?

This guy could be the same asshole that messed with you in your dream to teach you those three lessons. He's going off of that weird theory we had that Jacob was Virtue, because we accused him of it back then. Come to think of it... his avatar is "mrw", and Mr. White is the same guy from your dreams.

Hack his brain. See what he's thinking, and see if you can pull up a golemancy report. While you're at it, see if you can golemancy the oracle machine behind him. If my theory is correct, I think what you want to do is kill this guy, because he's likely Virtue/Sloth. If we engage in combat, then I'd like to note that all the previous Sins we fought had specific magic styles. Envy used Golemancy, Lust used Biomancy, Wrath used Time Magic, Pride used Arcane magic (telekinesis). Sloth here is obviously using lots of Illusion magic, and I'd like to note that you can probably make invalid objects via True Illusion to glitch up the game, and that's what he's doing.

Somebody snap Liz out of it, please. I don't know if a cure spell would work or a slap.

Looks like I was right about Liz=Virtue. We HAVE met this asshole before, though. He/she tried to steal your body back when the three other lizards were in your head.

Also, we kindof had no choice in killing the sins as they were all trying to kill us! Except for Davros, who got killed by Clown in the end, and Gluttony who also was killed by Clown. We almost kept Ridcully alive but he just couldn't stop himself. What the hell happened to Wrath? Where is Jacob?

Guys, just destroy the Oracle. If we do that, the world stays undestroyed. Then if we turn the last two focus crystals from input to output, we can return to the surface. People could start farming again, and make real food and mechanical energy instead of relying on the souls of "criminals" and babies to power their shit. I mean, people were driven down here because all the nuclear warheads detonated. It's been long enough that the radiation has cooked off, so the surface should be inhabitable again. All we need to do is turn off the magic void.

Well, we should at least ask... Roboliz what would happen if we destroyed Oracle before it's finished charging. If it, say, detonates in a huge goddamn explosion due to the released magical energy... maybe we shouldn't do that after all. We would want to siphon off the energy somehow or just deactivate Oracle safely. Graven, do you know enough about precursor tech to find the off switch on that thing?

Just for the sake of asking, ask Roboliz if she would accept a modified body to avoid confusion, while our Liz could make a copy of the original's appearance.

:mrw: Releasing it without using it would have the same effect as trying to blow up the machine, which isn’t a really good one. I suggest instead that we use its power as intended, and change reality to fit our own will. Let’s change reality so the infernal machine never was created and thus ensuring the surface was never destroyed. We should save billions of people, removing the loss of technology and recreating the world that was before all this happened.

Changing reality is a good plan, but I think we can do it in a more subtle way. Agree to the plan, but be sure that we, the One of Many, will be in control of this. We should be able to look at the big picture and... hey, if the universe gives no shits about paradox, can't we just change reality so that the Oracle was programmed with a security backdoor that would let us stop it? Heck, we could make it a voice command tied to the conversation we just had. Like "Plunder bunny". We have no way of knowing how the new 4000 years will go, so I'd like to avoid MAJOR changes. After that, we'd just have to figure out how to turn off the last two remaining focus crystals without killing Liz.

Also we still don't know what happened to the original Jacob, or where the red focus crystal is. Whoever's carrying the red focus crystal should be Wrath regardless of what their origin is, and would desire revenge above all else. Keep that in mind.

>Stopping the machine from having been created would be good, but wouldn't stopping ourselves from existing reset the loop like death?
:mrw: You are still thinking this is some kind of time machine. It doesn’t actually travel through time, instead just rewrite the present reality to fit whatever we need have. Therefor there can be how many discontinuities as you please without actually damaging the time continuum.
>Changing reality is a good plan, but I think we can do it in a more subtle way. Agree to the plan, but be sure that we, the One of Many, will be in control of this.

:mrw: That might be risky, but doable. I do not know if the current energies stored in it are enough to make that many key changes. It’s a lot safer just making one alternation, like I suggested, than making several like that.

Virtue possesses the ability to change reality to a specified input. By changing the core data of the game world anything is possible.

Unknown if paradox will unmake the world – not enough data.

>Make the surface inhabitable, create a thriving society up there and then remove all magic so this can’t happen again?
Making the surface inhabitable isn't a bad idea. Creating a new society out of nothing has a lot of dangerous moral implications, though. Also- how's a surface civilization going to react when a bunch of dirt dwellers crawl out into the sun?

Removing magic ain't so hot either. It's perfectly possible to render a planet uninhabitable with just science, and there are a lot of good uses for magic. Making the specific way the surface was destroyed impossible (changing the laws of reality so the reality eating crystals aren't possible no more, say) might be worth it.

>Can’t we just “wish” that this never actually happened?

Alright, let's avoid paradox. In fact, let's avoid changing the past at all.

Come to think of it, isn't the surface only uninhabitable because of the magic void up there? Which we know now is due to the focus crystals charging? If they are no longer charging then the magic void will go away and the surface will be fine. So all we need to do for the surface is make sure all the focus crystals are switched off of 'gather' mode. I mean, it's been 4000 years since the nukes went off. The radiation should be gone, right? Then again, with no animal life on the surface, the ecosystem is gonna be hard to take advantage of. Maybe we could just straight up restore the surface ecosystem?

Can we get a listing of how many focus crystals are still sucking magic off of the surface?

Oh, and I'd like to say that we should be very careful when phrasing our instructions to this machine. If we phrase them wrong, we could have undesired results!

Got to admit, something strikes me as off with all this and that text does make me think of what we have been dealing with. I mean, when you think about it, Liz and Sloth were both grade A illusionists and Liz is basically a direct conduit for Virtue, right?

What if the full power of these wishes are just perfect illusions? No holes, no flaws, real to everyone and anything who sees it and unbreakable through standard means? I mean, we've already seen what high level illusions can do to you if done right and we're probably the best at it now.

So... my big question is this; What if all the stuff that happened above ground is a Virtue class Illusion?

>What, can't you all hear headvoices?
:olof: Only in our heads, and then only to one of us at the time. Otherwise it always has been Lizbeth or someone else dictating what you were saying. Right now we all can hear graven actually speaking, with our ears, not mind.
>Can we get a listing of how many focus crystals are still sucking magic off of the surface?
There is currently… on- … zero… crystal(s) active.

>wish maggies parents back.
:graven: That would probably end badly. Please, she has already suffered enough, right?
>Hans sanity.
:Helga: Wouldn’t he just go insane again knowing everything he’s done when he was mad?
:hans: Darling, I’m already fabulous happy like this, ja? Why waste a wish on me?
>Creating a new society out of nothing has a lot of dangerous moral implications, though.
:sonya: Shoulden’t we just be able to create city’s without people? Then we don’t have to start from scratch or wage a bloody war between the surface dwellers and the dirt farmers.
>Removing magic ain't so hot either.
:graven: Hmm, maybe you’re right. Removing the tool would just prompt people to find another tool to do the job.
>changing the laws of reality so the reality eating crystals aren't possible no more.
:kevros: That doesn’t really stop something like this from happening again, it would just hinder it. After all, changing a man’s recourses doesn’t really change his nature.
>So... my big question is this; What if all the stuff that happened above ground is a Virtue class Illusion?
:graven: …But how does that really change anything? I mean, if the illusion is that powerful than we’re not just going to disbelieve it just like that. Besides, even if we were able to disbelieve it, then there are probably several layers of illusions under it. Getting the target to believe they escaped the illusion is after all the best way to keep them inside the illusion.

>I don't think we should do this. It reeks of a trap.
>...you know what, I don't like this. Just disconnect and step away from the machine, Liz.
:graven: And what? Just leave the machine here?
:lizbeth: Well, we don’t actually know if it will just lay dormant or not now when we’ve taken care of sloth, do we?
:kevros: Maybe he lied about what would happen if we destroyed it to? Maybe that would be the best course of action?
:Helga: But are we willing to take the chance?
:hal: Warning! Magical Meltdown Imminent! Please use up the magical power stored in… Virtue… within… five minutes… or a meltdown of… planet buster… levels will occur! Please have a nice day! :D
:Helga: …is it just me or was that a bit to convenient?
:olof: But are you willing to bet the whole world that it was?
:sonya: Well, we can’t just stand here. So what are we supposed to do? Destroy it? Just burry it here and forget about it? Use it? We’re kind of running out of time.

>make wish or not? Could be a trap!
You know, if we really want to play both sides here, we just wish that the deadly power buildup gets harmlessly dissipated. If this is a trap? We didn't let it trick us into doing something exploitable. If this is real? We've used up the power (to use up the power) and saved the world. Well the painting looks somewhat similar to the Kevros's in the dream where we 'repainted' Liz's future. The only added element is the kid in the middle.

Also looking back on that, I hope we didn't fuck up by not choosing to repaint the future of the world itself. If our actions in that dream actually did anything, then we might've been able to prevent the apocalypse permanently by repainting that one.

Oh, and you know what this missing memory stuff reminds me of? Back when we switched timelines after Ridcully killed off most of our party. This could be exactly the same thing except also combined with a timeskip. Hey Liz, just before the Oracle commenced whatever it did, we saw "Lizbeth Change game date (Virtue power set to 0)!" Did you do this on purpose?

Also, uh, I'll point out that we saw that old lizard maid body there, so... where did your body come from? Also, Oracle greeted you with "Welcome back, Jacob". If you've been Jacob all this time, I will flip. That would mean he basically decided to change his own gender and species then wiped his memory in order to hide out in an immortal body in order to get revenge on his former coworkers. ...you DID say you didn't care about your own gender or the gender of your partners... Then again maybe welcome back message was like that because Oracle wasn't programmed with any other greeting.

It’s a family photo. Of course, we have to redo it when the little one gets a little bigger so she too can be in it.

Rules lawyer: Liz had a soul all along, since you need one to fall in love. Heck, that could be a separate True Illusion we need to disbelieve. Heck, this could all still be one. I mean, Liz is the vessel, not her focus crystal. We are in HER.

Then Hans' ultimate healing magic should work.

Um, if not... can we use that fragments-of-souls trick again? Shave off a little from everyone present to do it? If that is not an option either, then well... Maggy or Kev can do it. Maggy has the least to lose right now, actually; we're not completely sure we can put Graven in a golem body. We're pretty sure we can make a body, but getting him in it poses a problem.

Correct. It does not matter who is saved. To save the highest amount of people is the optimal outcome.

Um, okay, we're getting really meta here, but... I don't see how it's possible for any of these characters to escape. How can they possibly exist in our world? They don't have any bodies here waiting for them, and we don't have magic to break the rules of reality to let them in anyway. Personally though, I feel that if a character exists in the author's mind with enough definition so that the author doesn't even need to think about how they would act, they may as well be a real person. At that point they can basically write themselves.

Here's another choice. We win, the epilogue plays, and the epilogue continues to play until everyone is dead from old age or otherwise. There is no end of time issue if everyone is dead.

Ooooor, we have a sequel. We just keep having sequels forever. It's quite possible for a 'new game' to be in the same world.

Oh right, we could also, maybe... make one of the characters into a player and have them continue to play forever offscreen? Graven was able to enter text in the suggestion field. He became a player, very briefly, before he started only ever interacting inside the game area. We might need more than one character to do this though, since games like this tend not to work with only one player.
>>
No. 480799 ID: f2c20c

I also forgot to mention- Liz 'changed the game date' before to skip ahead 5 years in the illusion. Can't she do that multiple times during the epilogue to extend the time the epilogue lasts? So long as we play time will continue, and having large amounts of time between updates means we don't have to play for very long on our side. Time could be extended to like, the heat death of the universe if Liz survives that long. That would be more than acceptable.

According to the words of our prophets everyone on our planet is descended from alien spirits enslaved in a volcano. And the world was supposed to end 5 days ago. And our savior has wine and crackers for blood and bones. And we were supposed to have Mars colonies decades ago. And so on. Our prophets rarely agree on much of anything, and it's even rarer that their predictions makes sense, much less are correct.

Besides, what would be the point of escapist fantasy if your world wasn't fundamentally different from our own in a way to make it interesting?

It wouldn't be creating a simulated universe either if there was a way for things to cross out into the main universe, either. It would just be walling off a little room. The whole point of the simulation is it is distinct, and that the rules don't necessarily have to be the same as the host universe.

The computer is a fool that knows not what it speaks of. We live in recursions within recursions. Somewhere some how in your world is somebody playing a game in which humans go about living to the them exotic lives and so on and so forth. Each world plays another, each world plays each other. People who exist there exist here, those who exist here exist there. Therefore there was no chance of your victory because even if you won here and ended it over and done. Yet another will pick up the world and so on and so forth. To end every possibility is to take into account the possibility that your possibility shall be overturned. So let's keep going because either way victory shall never be earned by the other side.

That being said if Serge is being Mind Raped by the truth that this device seems to hold so dear, negate Serge's current situation with mind rape of our own.

So we know this computer isn't up to par, got any ideas for viruses, trojans, spyware, spamware. That's it! We can buy time, install spamware and let the computer lag

Talking about worlds ending is just a new face concealing a one of the oldest issues in philosophy. Simply put, everyone dies eventually, but the finite quantity of a thing such as life does not make it worth any less. The death of a world is simply a cause of many deaths and should be treated as such. This means that it should be avoided if possible, but it does not invalidate what came before it.

Anyway, check if the paper has changed than skip further ahead in it.

Billions? That's an exaggeration. Besides, even if a story ending- or not being finished- can be compared to everything in it dying, you have to also take into account that the world didn't exist at ALL before the story started. If there is life, there must also be death. Be glad we are creating worlds at all. The reason for their stories ending might be kinda shallow, but so was the reason for them being made. Plus, it's not like the characters suffer when the story ends. It just ends.

Wrath, even if you somehow managed to escape the story and put an end to the creative aspirations of every writer in our reality, you wouldn't be saving anyone. You would merely be preventing the birth of new worlds. Doesn't matter anyway though, because what you're attempting is COMPLETELY 100% IMPOSSIBLE. You're just an annoying villain in a sprite-based quest on the internet. You can't exist outside the author's head.
Plus, let me tell you a few things about our world. We've got war, famine, corruption, poverty, and pollution so bad it's slowly overheating the atmosphere and will most likely cause the collapse of the global ecosystem. There are no Lizards or Dwarves, and our civilization is founded on pure technology without any magic. Our tech is based off of the intimate knowledge we have about how the world works- electricity drives our machines, and we create new materials and tools via careful manipulation of chemical and physical reactions. More importantly, there is no evidence that any of us have souls. Personally, I believe we're all organic robots- our actions are based entirely on our memories and the physical attributes of our brains. Our emotions are just chemicals sloshing around in our skulls, our love is just an instinctual aide for reproduction, and when we die, we simply die. Religion is a comforting farce created by our brains' need for something to keep us going in spite of the fear of death.
Life in your world has more meaning than in ours, despite it being not "real". Your actions are objectively evil, you stupid machine.

Liz, it sounds like Serge is outside fate, somehow. Since we're up to our ears in meta, maybe he's an author insert? Does the paper include your actions, Liz? What about Serge's troops? Regardless, if he's the only person who can act outside the author's script (and that's what you've got there- it's the script), then he's the only person who can stop this.

Kev, you should try to keep Serge alive, probably.

Actually, let me make something clear here. I love these created worlds. It is my passion in life to participate in helping characters like you guys achieve what they want in life. I've been doing it for years; longer than I've ever done anything else, and I'm not getting tired of it.

I'd also like to point out that most of these worlds halt in their tracks not because they aren't entertaining to the readers, but because the author either can't or won't continue. It is not that we don't care about you guys. It's just that not everyone who makes a story can stick with it to the end. It's hard, and our lives are not all stable. We have our own obligations, you know. We have families and jobs, and we can die. I really would not blame boredom.

Oh, lastly... I should correct you more specifically about how frequently worlds are created. It's more like, one for each one of our days. Unfortunately due to how time in your world passes compared to ours, there is NO real comparison to be made to a 'heartbeat' in your world. Time passes for us in a completely different way. So basically 'billions of worlds' ending every 'heartbeat' could be accurate if every 'heartbeat' lasted an eternity, but honestly I doubt humanity will even survive long enough for a billion fictional interactive worlds to be created. On the other hand if you're including any piece of fiction ever written ever, even just page-length fanwanks, then maybe thousands a day would be closer, but holy crap why would you do that.

So, hang on, what happened to that talk about justice? This isn't justice. You don't care about life, or evil, or suffering, you only care about how angry you are. So you want to destroy everything, including yourself, because you're angry (and handling it worse than Kevros) about not being real? Don't you realize that's exactly what the author wants you to do? You're playing into his hands. Look at the papers Liz is holding. They're describing every action you take. That's because that's the original script for the game. Everyone else in this room is free from the shackles of fate. Why aren't you?

We're helpless here, as you've demonstrated. We can't fight you directly or indirectly. All we can do is ask, please. Stop. For your own sake, as well as those in your world.

Well, before we handle that, use a bunch of magic to put illusions supporting this thing in the sky. Use True Illusion if you have to. We can't let it crash and kill us all before we save the world!

Oh right and the first thing Hans should do is heal Serge back together. He's got da powah.

Just a note, when we do eventually escape this place, don't forget to bring the lizard maid body with us so we can turn it into Graven's new body. Speaking of Graven, he's been quiet. I'm still not sure that's how this actually works. From our perspective, all evidence seems to point to fiction worlds continuing to progress after we check out. Hell, there are worlds that have outlived their original creators, and the original players/readers/whatever for that matter too.

Also, the "jump to the real world" plan isn't gonna work. No matter how much power you accumulate in this world, it's just a number in a computer in the other.

Okay, look. I just remembered something important. There's a way we can interact with your world to keep it going even after the game ends. It's called ITQ. We can basically ask questions of you guys about the future, and you can answer them, and in that way the future will have happened. It's kindof like an extended epilogue.

As for the power to change the game... well, I'm not sure we should. What would we want to change? It has to be something in the present, or else the world would be destroyed by the paradox. As for escaping, I really don't think that's possible, and besides, we don't think it's worth unmaking Liz to do so. If you think you can change the game so that it has its own internal time so that we don't need to be here for it to keep going, then that would be optimal.

Hang on though, I noticed Clown isn't in here. Was the original person not directly involved in the project? Also, what's up with that rock and the blood splatter?

Also I thought you shot Pride in the face. What's he- oh wait you guys are all dead and these are your souls floating around in the machine. It's almost like Liz is dead now, huh? I think we should see what he has to say, even if it's a load of megalomaniacal bullcrap.
>>
No. 481079 ID: f2c20c

Oh, hang on. During our first meeting, before being revealed as Wrath, Oracle claimed that magic would end, not that time would end... and that we were the cause. I'm wondering which case is true... or if both cases are true? It's possible that Sloth basically turned Oracle into Wrath by reprogramming her... or she became Wrath because we changed the timeline when we had Jacob kill Pride instead of the other way around. I'm not sure what the end of the world really is, anymore.

I do know one thing for certain- even if magic dries up, people can still survive on the surface via non-magic technology. Farming! Livestock! We might have to actually create some books to teach them how to do that stuff, though, since they're so reliant on magic right now. Also I'm not sure if livestock exists anymore. We might have to create that too. Probably food crop seeds as well, just so they get a head start on things. Oh, we'd want to create like, a year of canned surplus food for them so that they survive long enough to get the food industry going, too.

But putting aside our skepticism for the moment and assuming the world really does work that way, what are we supposed to do about it? You've already rejected allowing us to just keep interacting with you (ITQ and sequels), you claim setting up time dilation (ie, 1 year for us equals the age of the universe for you or whatever) can't be done, and you've rejected the idea of ascending someone inside the game to "player" status so nothing ever stops. >It's like that cat in a box question.
:freya: The one that is always dead when you open the box? That’s not really that reassuring…
>You've already rejected allowing us…
:mrw: Rejected? What have we rejected?
:lizbeth: Well, Sloth and Wrath did reject some ideas…
:mrw: Wasn’t Sloth and Wrath bat shit crazy and was trying to destroy the world?
:lizbeth: Oh yeah…

>(ITQ and sequels).
:davros: Well, a sequel isn’t going to happen and trusting ITQ is risky but doable. I think it’s more that Graven is pessimistic than anything else.
:graven: I’m not pessimistic, just realistic.
:davros: And you just proved that you’re pessimistic…
>setting up time dilation.
:mrw: Should work… We do have the ability to remove the 1 year limit know that we have access to the game codes. Thought the question is what happens to us after the dilation?

>ascending someone inside the game to "player" status.
:freya: Can we even do that?
:rid: In theory, yes. Thought we don’t know if that would actually stop the world freezing or not… And we need some souls to ascend…
:davros: “Cough”
:rid: Oh, yeah…
:mrw: Oh, I want to suggest stuff, can I?
:graven: Well, now I have even more reason to stay here…

>And escaping the game is just loony.
:mrw: That we agree on.
>Let spam bots be the players?
:mrw: Just as loony as trying to escape.
:davros: I’m just fine with the size of my… tools, thank you very much.
>Okay, whatever you decide to do better involve crossdressed Kevros and giant harmless explosions.
:lizbeth: Of course.
:Graven: …I’m so going to stay.

:lizbeth: So let’s see… we can either trust ITQ to keep us alive…
:davros: Set up a jump to the future…
:rid: Or ascend to GODHOOD! MUHAHAHA!
:mrw: Um…
:rid: I mean, players… yes, players.
:lizbeth: Oh, and we got to get Graven out of here.
:graven: What? We can’t just leave these loony’s in charge of this thing!?

Insert loony bin_

>The one that is always dead when you open the box? That’s not really that reassuring…
The one that is in a superposition state of life and death until you open the box, at which point the wave function collapses and the cat will either turn out to have been alive or dead all along (assuming, for whatever silly reason, that the cat itself doesn't count as an observer to the radiactive decay and release of the poison). Jeeze, it's like you guys don't know anything about quantum mechanics thought experiments.

If you're just putting a cat in a box to see if it dies from lack of air you're doing it wrong!

>What? We can’t just leave these loony’s in charge of this thing!?
Well yes, but what are we supposed to tell MAgs after we leave you here?

>Choose a route!
...what if we ascended everyone to godhood player status? That way we get the benefits without giving a few the ability to abuse their power.

Or if that doesn't work, we could go with time dilation. If the heat death of the universe kicks in before time grinds to a halt, it's not like anyone will notice (actually, it's not like anyone would notice time stopping in a year, either).

>trust ITQ to keep us alive…
Yanno, I think I'm going to support Grav's pessimism on this route. Your world isn't serious or consistent enough for people to reliably keep coming to ask questions. By this point we accept it's all wibbly wobbly timey wimey mind screw illusions and bullshit.

Oh, speaking of Wrath... why were there golems built based off of you guys and programmed to try to kill Liz? And also built to be various degrees of crazy? What was the point of that?

How about, for the plan to keep time from ending, we use ALL the plans? Set up some folks to be players, make our epilogue's timestamps for each update set in increasingly far points in the future (something like 1 year, 5 years, 50 years, 100 years, 5,000 years, 100,000 years, 5 billion years), and we'll try asking some questions in ITQ? Also make sure to remove any hardcoded limits on the calendar.

Hang on though, there's an issue with characters becoming players. They will be that way forever. Won't they eventually just go completely crazy due to being alive for that long?

>Well yes, but what are we supposed to tell Mags after we leave you here?
:graven: …that I’m sorry. For everything… oh, and tell her papers actually spoke the truth… and that I deserve this.
:lizbeth: I’m not just going to leave you here.
:graven: Liz, I’m dead. There is a reason that no one else has ever cheated death. Please, let me move on?

>Why were there golems built based off of you guys and programmed to try to kill Liz?
:davros: Because of all the security measures we put in Virtue. He was programmed so only we should activate the focus crystals, except if we died, then Virtue should get the authority to control them. To detain him from just killing us of if he ever went haywire, we also programmed him to be both unable to harm us in anyway and not getting control of the crystals if he ever succeeded in offing us personally somehow. Of course, he got around this by “accidently” killing us in the initially sundering of the surface, creating perfect copies of our bodies and sticking our souls in them, programming us to attack an insane super powerful mage, whom he later released into the world when he had gotten enough power to proceed with his plan.
:lizbeth: …Isn’t that a little too complicated?
:mrw: We’re still not sure if he had to do it like this to bypass his programming or if he did it because he was a sadist and wanted to watch us suffer for 4000 years.
:freya: I’m guessing a little of both.
:lizbeth: Well, if anything, that does kind of proves that he was insane…
>...what if we ascended everyone to player status?
:mrw: …But they there wouldn’t be anyone left for them to play?

>ALL the plans.
:lizbeth: Clearly the best plan.
>Won't they eventually just go completely crazy due to being alive for that long?
:davros: We’ve been alive for thousands of years, and we’re not crazy.
:rid: I’m a one eyed cucumber >: D
:davros: Mostly not crazy.
:mrw: We should always just change the people who are players, right? Throw out the ones that are insane and so forth. Of course, we need someone to oversee the whole thing that’s not insane…
:graven: “Cough”
:davros: Right, we got a plan. All the plans. So scamper of to the real world so we can start, Liz.
:lizbeth: B-but Graven? Dammit Graven, stop being difficult and come with me!
:graven: NEVER!

"So you DON'T want Mags and I to double-team you until you can't walk straight? Darn, I was looking forward to that. Maggy will be heartbroken.

Have the characters be the overseers. Then if the players abuse their power or go insane, the characters have a means to fight back. The characters being played get to decide if they don't like the players, and can call for replacements. That's their advantage. The players get to live for a very long time and experience lots of stuff they normally wouldn't. That's their advantage.

It's a balance! So that way Graven doesn't have to stay behind. Besides, if Graven tried to be overseer forever eventually he'd have the same issue players have, and who would decide who replaces him?

Also, Graven. In our dream we changed the future so that you were alive at the end. Don't give up, dammit. Heck, we have a reality-changing machine here. We can just set you=alive, right?
>>
No. 481806 ID: f2c20c

Oh, and one last thing. We need to put something in to make sure new characters are chosen for the players to suggest for. I mean, Liz probably won't want to live forever, and she might have an accident anyway. The other characters are mortal. So, there needs to be some sort of method for people becoming player characters. I think it should be pseudo-random; it should probably pick people who are going on adventures or have other interesting problems to solve.

>We need to put something in to make sure new characters are chosen for the players to suggest for.
:mrw: Well, we can easily chose which character we will follow from here. Everyone got a line in their data which can be changed to a 1 so they become a new player character. That is after all what happened to all your party members.

>Maggy will be heartbroken.
:graven: She’ll get over it…
:freya: That’s cold.
:graven: …I-I mean...um… I don’t want to return, okay?
:lizbeth: So you DON'T want Mags and me to double-team you until you can't walk straight? Darn, I was looking forward to that.
:graven: W-W-WHAT!? I… I… stop teasing me, dammit!
:lizbeth: I’m not teasing. You know I’m a nymphomaniac. You just can’t admit something that good should happen to you.
:mrw: Or he’s gay.
:lizbeth: Well, in that case we got gender changing potions and Kevros.
:davros: You’re scaring the poor boy, Liz…

>Oh, and if you deserve this for whatever you did, then what exactly do you think Maggy the assassin deserves?
:graven: She only killed people she didn’t know!
:Lizbeth: But you only killed someone in an accident.
:graven: I tried to kill her father so I should marry her mother, dammit! That not really something you just forgive and forget!
:lizbeth: um…
>Don't give up, dammit.
:lizbeth: Never mind that… Listen, I know you’re scared about admitting these things to Maggy, but you regret it, right? You know you made a grave mistake, so please, don’t make another. Do you really think Maggy deserve this?
:graven:
:davros: Oh, and just a reminder. You do realize the one you tried to murder is standing right here. I mean, most people would be quite… angry that you killed their wife and is about to kick their daughter will they are down, hmm?
:mrw: I been wondering about that. Why are you more scared about someone that loves you in the mortal world then several crazy psychopaths that are stuck in a place where you can feel pain but not die?
:graven: …right, Liz, let’s go have that threesome or something…
:lizbeth: Sweet.
:graven: And don’t say anything about this to Maggy. I’ll tell her myself so she can murder me as soon as she hears it…
