You'd probably imagine living in a world of amazingly colorful things would be great, right? Where everyone is happy all the fucking time and prancing around like everything is perfect and happy all the FUCKING time and where you don't age past 15 years old and everyone is trying to feed you fucking skittles TWENTY FOUR SEVEN and the bread is god damned CYAN BLUE and all the rooms are made with EXTREMELY BRIGHT COLORS and all the clothes are hideously bright and NEVER MATCH?

Well let me fucking tell you: it sucks DICK. Which is pretty bad for me because I'M A LESBIAN.

I've recently found a way out of this place-to get to the normal world, which they said was impossible. You can get in to Color, but you can't get out.

It's going to be hard. I've uncovered a rather violent and evil force here designed to keep up happy and content and whatever the fuck so that we don't want to leave.

I've been 15 for 20 years now.

I want out.

Maybe she has some sort of sugary cereal I mean that stuff's almost loaded with crack already. Maybe the metal key goes to the address?Once the Elf is secure ask her about

But you know, you could tell her you have terets and that you didn't mean to punch her. I'd give you an excuse to randomly hit her and stuff too

I look at the key, number, and address.

The key was on top of the number, '529', so I have a hunching that it goes along with that.

The address is most certainly the place to start, though.

I glance over at Ella, who is still passed out on the floor, breathing heavily.

I know a LITTLE magic, so I could probably devise a bounding spell if she wakes up while I'm gone.

I head outside to begin the search.

..Well look at that-Walmer street is connected here.

I glance over both ways to take in sights, staying away from the road as cars speed by. It's kind of spooky-there arn't any cars in color, I've only seen pictures and videos of them. They're REALLY loud in person.

On the right side is a Mcdonalds, Best Buy, and a baptist church.

On the right side is a storage unit building, a car wash, and a preschool.

Which way should I go?

A kolbold sits at a tiny desk, watching the door patiently. They give me a nod in greeting and asks me how he can be of help.

I shrug and show him the paper, saying I needed to get to that locker.

I then flash the key, which I now notice has the same number engraved in it.

The kolbold narrows his eyes and tips his head back, reading the number.

He takes a moment, tapping something into the computer-I glance over, seeing he's bringing up the file for that unit.

>"Alright...'Ella the elf'. Exit the side-door, then take a left past three rows and you should be able to find it."

He doesn't seem too concerned that I'm the wrong person, so I go ahead.

BOX 1:
CLOTHES of all COLORS including DARKER SHADES. they are all SHIRTS

BOX 2:
PANTS that probably go along with the SHIRTS. A few SKIRTS are in here too.

BOX 3:
CANS OF BEANS. Like, 50 of them.

BOX 4:
....A FUCKING SHIT TON OF MONEY. The largest box in here, with rolls of 20's filling up each and every corner. Hell yes.

BOX 5:

It's filled to the top with thick packets titled 'THE JOINING'. I'm no sleuth, but this is probably helpful.

BOX 6:

MAPS OF THE WORLD. Each map has a different REGION OF COUNTRIES. At closer inspection, they have a COLORFUL CIRCLE at certain points-I'm guessing these are PORTALS.

There...must be THOUSANDS of these around the world.....

BOX 7:

More VOUCHERS except these are in DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.

BOX 8:

Books titled 'How to survive outside of Color for DUMMIES'

BOX 9:

Tons of HOBBY BOOKS. Probably relating to Ella's saying that people left Color for a MORE EXTREME LIFE.

BOX 10:

This is filled with RINGS. Each RING has a RED GEM embedded into it.

All right! Friggen jackpot!

Start off by swapping some clothes around. Trade the horrible red pants for dark colored pants.

Then take some spending money, and store it in your new pockets.

Then let's read the Joining pamphlet. Could be useful. Might also help to skim the Dummies book. I mean, most of it is probably pretty obvious, but they might have slipped something important in there we've overlooked.

Don't mess with the rings yet, in case they're magic or something.

I open THE JOINING pamphlet and begin reading.

Hello reader! If you have been given this booklet, chances are that you are considering leaving the safety and prosperity of Color! Some of you may have been rash and left without reading this, but a scout has probably reached you and handed you this. THE JOINING, as your head Color leader has explained to you, is a group for those born in Color who wish for a more exciting life.

The world of Color is not for everyone-and because of that, a couple hundred years ago, we formed. We help the leavers begin the rather hard process of joining this world-though some join the Church to recruit new members into Color or join into the membership of renewing that magic of Color.

The next page describes the founders, whom of most still live to this day. It is not mandatory to read about them.

MAGIC

The bounds of Color as we know it are based on complex spells and charms to the very core-during dark ages, when destructive forces were mad with power, families sought a place to live and raise their families in safety and harmony. Door ways were placed that upon crossing through, you found yourself in a new land. The magic was woven with such good intentions that the land became swirls of bright, happy colors that defined how much love the wizards and mages held whilst casting.

Through that as well, a God shined His light on us to grant those who stepped in Immortality. If born in Color, you aged for 15 years until your body took on eternal youth-even if leaving the world to the old one.

Sometimes, however, with a couple of the founders death in a tragic accident, the magic must be filled back. No mage has had the same golden intentions, thus repairs are needed almost daily.

That is where you could come in, dear reader! Everyone has a bit of magic in them, but you...

It goes on into eternal happiness and other shit, so I start skimming until I find a subtitle that catches my attention.

RINGS

There are doors to Color everywhere! So how do you find one if you need to on a moments notice? Your Greeter should supply you with a ruby ring! Whenever you are near a door, it grows warm.

It goes on about the rings creator and other shit I can't bother myself with.

I really don't feel like reading EVERYTHING right now. I'll read the RULES AND MORALS and then do something else. I don't like reading.

RULES AND MORALS OF THE JOINING

1. Above all, RESPECT the others that leave. Violence and verbal/emotional disrespect will not be tolerated. It will automatically be handled by displacing the abuser from The Joining and disbanded from reentering Color.

Oh, shit. Looks like I fucked that up already.

2. Informing large masses of the outside world that do not intend to JOIN nor RECRUIT into Color or THE JOINING will result in BANISHMENT. If you are not a FORMAL RECRUITER, you must request permission to share knowledge.

3. Do not let others attend to THE CHURCH if they have not been informed...

I skim over the rest of the rest of the rules, which is mostly about the steps of getting in The Joining, respecting fellow peers, magic usage, abusing the system, and other irreverent stuff.

At the end, though it gives a list of the Churches-there are 5 in every surrounding region, including this one. I scrawl the address down on a slip of paper and tuck it into my pockets.

She's so in shock/pain she can only sniffle and nod.

"Good girl, Ella. Maybe I'll even fix your nose if you behave, hmm?"

I'm adapt in the areas of jinx's and healing-I learned healing mostly for my own behalf, since I'll never grow stronger, and jinxing someone(i.e., the restraining magic+modifications much alike a curse) to make up for my lack of strength for physical restraint.

Abuse does not build reliable loyalty, in the long term. Playing the reasonable (but powerful and not to be crossed) mistress is better than a domineering and cruel one.

"...I'll go with this 'Mcdonalds', then. What's their number?"

>"They don't deliver."

"I'll fuckin' make them deliver then. I've got all the goddamned cash to convince them."

She giggles a little, and I resist the urge to hit her again.

Huh. McDonald's dates back to the 40s or 50s, don't it? And it's a pretty big cultural phenomenon. Even if you didn't live in an area with one, it's kind of odd you wouldn't have heard of one before getting trapped in color. How old were you when the cult got you?

>I liked her quaking fear quite a bit.
Honestly, fear isn't terribly useful in this situation. Stockholming her is a more reliable control mechanism.

I honestly don't know. Everyone around me always talked of me being brought in, but I was so young that I had no memory of this world. My parents didn't show up with me, so I was placed with Mr. Hopkins.

Within a year, when I was just a little ol' tyke, I ripped his tail off! Heh. They had me living in my own place as soon as possible.

If you were so young how did you develop this hatred of elves? Usually that sorta hate is through what the parents say throughout their childhood.

I've just always hated them on sight-and so many are just SO ego-centered and act like they're the fuckin' shit of things.

It's a part side-goal to put elves in their place. Starting with Ella, I suppose.

Maybe I'll make it a law in Color to have at least one elf as a pet, and raising the children without speech nor magic..Ha!

>Hate them for being SO ego-centric.
Really. You don't say.

Say, Pot, have you been introduced to Kettle yet?

And again, this stupid fantasy racist thing is stupid. I'm all for burning down color and declaring yourself the magical immortal dragon queen despot of the realm of darkness or whatever, but this elf thing is just lame.

...Some ones at the door.

Shitshitshit! They've found me haven't they?! Ella found some way to alert them and now they're gonna fuckin' take me back in--!!!

What should I do???!

Fight or flight? They might have brought a whole goddamned army with them jesus shit!

>It's not like I can HELP hating the-
One of the hardest and most important lessons you can learn in life is that anger, and hate, are choices you can control. Quiet a lot of people think it's bullshit when they're first told.

>knock knock
Look to Ella, first. What's her reaction? Joy, surprise, confusion, relief...? Ask if her if she was expecting someone. Maybe check the peephole?

Then we decide what to do. It is possible they're cultists or color people- after all, Ella is supposed to be watching that door. If anyone came looking for the escapee it makes sense they'd check the watch post next door.

Surprised and confused.

I calm down a little, realizing I may have over reacted.

The door has no peephole-I tip toe over to one of the chairs in the kitchen area and snap a leg off a chair as a blunt object.
>>

Crack open the door and growl out what do you want. Sound as belligerant as possible. If its not life or death you are busy here.

As far as the elf hating... get over it. It won't help you and in fact it will hurt you. Blind hate is just that blind. No species can be painted with a single brush.
>>

You can't really help hating people; just like you can't really help a fear of spiders. Logic doesn't work on instinct/hatred/fear. I know spiders can't hurt me, (most of the time) but I still can't stand them. The only thing I have to say about this elf is that she didn't seem that full of herself; she was really happy to see that someone else escaped.
>>
No. 485206 ID: be7fd9

Right, open door. Instruct Ella to stay quiet, and make sure not to open the door far enough for anyone to see her.

>>485204
The key isn't so much trying to apply logic to emotions. It's coming to realize that, to some degree, you can control emotional response. You feel yourself starting to react with anger or hate... and then you choose not to. It's more letting go of your reaction than anything else. It's an odd thing, and it's certainly more difficult with certain emotions and responses.

>"HI DO YOU WANNA BUY COOKIES FOR MY GIRL SCOUT--"

I smack her head and watch her pass out to the ground in....

Awh fuck it was a girl scout. A little fuckin' kobold that doesn't look over a day one year.

SHIT.

No one else is in the hallway so I drag her passed out body inside.

Girl scouts are little girls. They sell cookies.
The cookies are delicious. Please don't kill the girl scout, their retribution isn't something you'd be able to survive.
>>
No. 485211 ID: be7fd9

...okay, I'm fairly certain the cutebold isn't any kind of physical threat to you. Cancel the bludgeoning.

What's with the sash and the box? Is it a girl scout selling cookies? Because this apartment is dangerously short on cookies and we will definitely buy some yes please.

Goddamn, your trigger finger is too fast. This is the real world girl- you're supposed to assume non-hostile until proven otherwise. Not the other way around.

...I don't suppose you can just heal the pup, hope she doesn't remember exactly what happened, buy some cookies and send her on her way?

Ella rushes over her body, looking worriedly at her already bruising head.

>"What the fuck, Bubby?" She hisses at me, suddenly very angry.

"I didn't know it was a girlscout! At least we can just take all her cookies!"

>"Shut up! Can you heal her?!"

"I can heal the head wound, but I can't make her wake up!"

Theres noise outside our door-mamma kobold calling for her daughter. Shit, SHIT.

Alright. I think you have to come to terms with the fact you don't have a clue how to handle yourself in the real world. You're attacking children, for crying out loud. Enough with the power trip games.

Heal the kid, dispel the collar, and then we need a way to get the pup back to it's mother without getting in trouble. Get Ella's help, if you have to. Can you use hex magic for that? Mess with the mother's memory, or sense of what's going on?

...there is something wrong with you. Seriously, medically, wrong. Thin mints are awesome. Samoas are better, but thin mints still rock.

This is now officially keep the angry dragon from hurting people quest. We're going to have to precede every set of instructions with orders not to attack people.
