I wake up after what seems like a minute after I initially shut my eyes. It's still pretty dark, meaning I probably hadn't slept very long again. I knew the prescription wasn't going to work, so why did I even waste my time? After sitting up, glaring intensely at the row of bunks set in front of mine for a couple minutes or so, I finally decide to check my watch.

Two hours. Maybe a bit more. At least I got about a little less than a half-hour more of sleep than I did yesterday. I, of course, feel anything but rested, but at this rate I doubt I'll be able to go back to another fruitless slumber.

I consider finding another way to pass the time.

Definitely wishful thinking.

> Put in 459.

My memory serves me well. The input works and the lock releases the handle. I open the door and immediately regret doing this. A warm burst of air pours through and hits my face, accompanied with a very rotten smell. I command Weathers to stay by the door while I check inside.

I let my eyes adjust a bit. It's pretty dark, but from what I can see, the quaint cabin's interior shows that there's been some rough-housing going on. There are long slash marks across the wall in numerous places.

You'll get in trouble if you get in an altercation without proper evidence first, which is highly likely if someone alive and bad is here. The bad smell which might indicate a body might be justification enough.
I bet there's a scary reveal under that sheet.
After the scary reveal which I think is going to be a dead body then you can properly go and check all the corners and doors in the house.

Unfortunately, if that is a dead body, you're going to have to call it in and explain to your coworkers how you found it AND that you gave key piece of evidence to a civilian for processing, maybe they'll be lax on you, I don't know but I know the department isn't going to like it very much.

I realize I should have thought of that before I told you the code number sorry bro. But the smell and the body-shaped curtain cover triggered my "We're going to get into shit" senses and not the spooky door.

I carefully step further into the house, remaining alert.

> Unfortunately, if that is a dead body, you're going to have to call it in and explain to your coworkers how you found it AND that you gave key piece of evidence to a civilian for processing, maybe they'll be lax on you, I don't know but I know the department isn't going to like it very much.

I've already gone into this a little too deep now. I'll have to go through with it. I'm sure I can get away with this whole thing unscathed...unscathed meaning not having my ass burnt by my superiors. In fact, finding something like a body could land me on their good side if it were to uncover some kind of hidden scheme going on in this place. Still, I'm not feeling very good being in this place. The air is thick and uncomfortable.

> also what's in the box on the table over there to the left, next to the lamp.

I sidestep the obviously concealed corpse sitting in the middle of the interior and check out the box sitting on the table. I cannot open it, of course. I search around the table but can't find a key anywhere, but I do find some coin and a coin purse sitting near the lamp. I think back to what Mel was saying about spare change. Should I take them?

No need to get the coins. I feel like we should start to examine the body now. (and get a few pics in case this place goes up in smoke) Weathers is being very quiet (and off camera) is he ok?

Is the door next to the alleged "body" the one you came in from? I suspect not.

I'd check the door first. My horror senses tell me that whatever is behind the door is worse than what is under the shroud, if indeed anything interesting is under it.

Besides, best to check all rooms to make sure the building is clear before getting yourself distracted.

I decide to ignore the coins.

> Weathers is being very quiet (and off camera) is he ok?

Weathers is, thankfully, being obedient and watching the outside for me.

I check the small room just to the left of the body. I want to make sure I sweep every bit of this house before unveiling it. The small room turns out to be a bathroom and there is nothing of interest inside. Taking a deep breath, I take another look at the shroud.

I walk over, remaining cautious.

...slowly I reach my hand out. I grab the cloth.

I whisk it away and it lands heavily on the floor. It's a body all right, but there is something very off about this. My heart is racing and my head starts to hurt. This appears to be the same body that I saw in the picture file in the flash drive. But like I said, actually being here and seeing it for myself is a lot different - there is a strangeness about this body. The sack over the head is irregularly shaped...and something else.

Duly noted. I back up and call up HQ.

His fingers are long, and I mean his FINGERS. The BONES themselves. It's really creepy.

Well, crap. Freaky bad shit detector just spiked. Activate plan GTFO! You can figure out what the hell happened there after putting a door between you and whatever the fuck that body is.

Dial your radio receive volume to minimum and lock the transmit button down while you pull your pistol and aim it at the body; That way if you do fire HQ will hear it. Maintain eye contact with it the whole time as you step back as quickly and quietly as you can. As soon as you're clear of the door, quickly close it and set the lock.

I turn the radio down and put it into my pocket, trying my best to quietly sneak out of the house, but all the debris on the ground really isn't helping any.

> and get your pistol ready to blow that things head off should it attack you.

Screw that! I got my rifle out right now. If the damn thing comes at me, I won't hesitate to empty this entire magazine into it.

And on cue, the sack head tears open to reveal two rows of hideously sharp teeth, the thing bellowing with startling loudness, going into a frenzy and charging. It swings its nasty fingers at me with incredible vigor.

I fire my rifle, managing to get a few rounds into him. Visibly and audibly, he appears to feel the pain, but is still coming at me.

It gets within arms length and swings at me a couple times, catching me in the chest and digging into the armor under my jacket like butter. The next swing is at my firearm, the great force of the blow causing it to fly right out of my grasp.

"Holy shit!" I hear Weathers yell outside.

Small spaces at short range is the exact reason you got a sidearm in first place you silly cop, this is no place for a mid-range rifle. Stay away from the mouth and get some distance before you switch to the pistol and unload into the freak.

Tell weathers to shoot its head. Hopefully you can get a bit of distance and your pistol out while it's distracted. You should aim for its head too Aiden. The only issue may be that it might not have a normal brain since its mouth is so wide.
>>
No. 534641 ID: 9ddf68

tell him to stop gawking and to shoot the damn thing. Not sure you can pull out your pistol and blow it's head off before it can close the gap so pull your pistol and start firing AS you go for the head to hopefully kill but to at least slow it down. Those things have more then 1 bullet it them.

(and by shot it as you go for the head I mean draw your pistol and start putting a few rounds in this thing's chest/stomach/neck/whatever as you bring the gun up to get a head shot.)

Yell to Weather to shoot it, while you draw your pistol and unload into it wherever you can while dodging its hits as best you can. Try to keep it in the doorway and yourself out of Weather's line of fire.

And (as if it needs to be said) don't let any part of you get in that thing's jaws; It'd be as bad as getting chomped by an alligator.

The creature falls onto its back, writhing even though Weathers caught it in the head. Weathers walks in with a purpose and unloads on the thing until his pistol clicks.

"Weathers! Weathers, hold your fire!" I command. Weathers slowly looks over at me, looking like he just witnessed a nightmare, which I suppose is appropriate.

"I - I got it. Are you okay?" he asks shakily.

"Yeah, I'm alright. A bit scratched up, but I'll live. Good shooting," I say. Weathers looks like he's about to faint, so attempting to calm him and reassure him would be good. I could tell it's the first time he killed someone, but that was a given at the start.

> Also how's your rifle, still looks like it'll shoot?

My rifle is still in good condition, thankfully. I pick it up off the ground.

> Get Weathers outside and make the call yourself.

Together we head outside and are welcomed by a large group of anthros and feranthros alike, attracted by the commotion. I tell them all to disperse. I need to give Weathers some space.

I take out my radio, which is still on. I crank it up.

"HQ, this is Sgt. Schar, over."

"Sgt. Schar, it's good to hear you. We heard gunshots and already sent over backup and a medic team. Please remain in the area, over."

"Roger, HQ. We were attacked, but the assailant is neutralized. You guys need to check this guy out, over."

That having been done with, we can already hear the vehicles arriving. It's been a weird, hard day today, more so for Weathers. I don't remember the last time I looked forward to getting some rest.
