Despite how delicious it would be to wait you really HAVE to know what's going on under those clothes. It's.. biological research. Yes.

>I uh, don't think we have microscales. My skin looks soft because it is.
>Tell Firth that you really are as squishy as you look and that you have no microscales. Also ask what that piece of furnature we saw earlier was.

You tell Firth that humans really are this squishy and don't have scales, micro or not. She seems surprised and gives you a look and wonders aloud what that must feel like, skin to scale. Kith seems a bit more flustered at that comment.
"L-Larama. Victor.. p-please do not humor her."

>You might be able to reclaim some of that in control victor cred if you looked sly while musing over her weakness to human puzzles, hmm?
You bring up the puzzle game and that you've heard of it, and try to make a comment about bringing Kith 'back in line' if need-be causing Firth to laugh. She elbows Kith and tells her to be careful you might be a slave for life if that keeps up. She says something under her breath that you can't hear and causes Firth to grin mercilessly. You're actually kind of enjoying someone else being flustered because of you for once.

>Aaah, (pseudo) incest everywhere. They're probably not really sisters, though.
You make a mental note to ask about that but now is probably not the time.

You tell Kith that if it helps your, uh, family? has had some similar issues.
She asks you what exactly you mean.
You refuse to tell her saying that maybe someday when hell freezes over.
Firth says "wait I thought human Hell had whole parts that were just like, ice"
You blink. She's.. actually kind of correct on that, at least in some capacity.

>Ask Kith if she saw anything weird after the battle. You thought you saw a blue guy waving his arms on top of a mountain, but that might just be your mind cracking from the stress of accidentally vaporizing your clothes on live galactic television.

Explain that the innermost sections of hell as described Dante's Inferno are frozen, yes, but there's also a fair amount of burning sulfur and molten lead and so forth in the rest of it, so the whole place freezing over would be unlikely or at least take a long time. The Azure Witch.. they say she found a way to break the Crimson Authority's control on the devices. A one-woman rebellion. They say they eventually sent an entire space armada against her, and she took them all out, but died in the process.

Nobody really believes the stories, though. It's most likely her species had some kind of magic-like powers and everything just got blown out of proportion.

Still, the fact she might have existed brings hope to a lot of us that someday we can fight back. Hopefully more successfully, though.
>>

Indeed.

Maybe she's looking for recruits? Or an apprentice?

BTW, how do you feel about the Crimson Authority, in general? Like, if they suddenly disappeared, would the universe dissolve into a mess of conflicts and complicated wars, or what? Speaking realistically, how much do you feel they actually contribute to the system?

It's not as if lots of cultures don't exploit people by watching them compete in a public manner. (From ancient gladiators to reality tv!).

And if you were running a modern gladiatorial thing, and you didn't want people killing each other left and right, it makes sense to have a built in disincentive like the death leagues. (You're gonna kill people? Fine, you're demoted to where people will kill you back). Plus, you get to reap more entrainment dollars from it instead of the costs of prosecution or imprisonment.

And it accommodates species / cultures that might be more tolerant or expectant of things ending in death (problem of being a big conquering alien empire- you need to accommodate a lot of variety).

It's too easy to forget that your life is unusually good for a citizen of the Authority. Your family gets a large amount of Luxury Credit and extra rations, but even then both your parents have to Toil. The amount that would bring in for a normal family is a pittance.

But even if the Witch is back, even she didn't succeed last time.
>>
No. 625094 ID: d3be40

Revolutions usually end in tragic bloodshed because it's not really clear what most people fight for, and the reasons blur and corrupt until all that is left is the warlords on top and ready to do as they please. At that point, the best-case scenario is an overlord who takes ruling a nation as a serious challenge.

I would suggest that you find the network that runs the entire Crimson Authority and rip the [[Censored Rant]] out of anything that makes your people suffer. If Azure Witch II's plan is to hack into the system and purge most of its corruption, then you ought to support that. If she just plans on a revolution, take part but be ready to screw her over the moment she betrays your trust.

Whatever you decide, be sure to make rational decisions and analyze everything you come into contact with. We're talking about an entire galaxy, so show some respect by maximizing your abilities.

>But even if the Witch is back, even she didn't succeed last time
They didn't have you last time.

Honestly I think it'd be best for you to hang back until you see which side is pulling ahead or if you see a good opportunity to help with the rebellion. You have too much to lose right now if the odds aren't on your side. In the mean time... you could get your friends together and start up a "book club".

More specifically, they didn't have you and every magical girl you could recruit if you were able to pump the witch's ghost for how she managed to hack the devices.

She apparently did things in the stupidest way possible, fighting the entire Authority on her lonesome rather than joining up with allies. If her entire species had magic, then there'd be an entire planet full of Blue Witches that would have already overthrown the Authority by now; since that hasn't happened the more rational explanation is that she managed to hack her device, then completely neglected to teach anyone how to do it or hack anyone else's devices to create an army of magical girls.

Self control roll: 7-5=2 vs 10 (EASY)

You think you're not going to get anywhere with B3 unless you're completely forthright but you're afraid that she's just going to say something like it being a "sisterly duty to help him get it out of his system by ushering him into adulthood" given her unusually progressive opinions and the sort of things she reads.

Instead you tell her maybe you'll just sleep on it and it'll make more sense in the morning.

She feels a little let down by that but trusts you completely. Come to think of it she always has..

It is getting late. You can sleep in a bit tomorrow though, so if you want to do stuff like studying now you can, but you may be less distracted if you get up earlier tomorrow. Or you can continue chatting with people, but you shouldn't probably be more than 1-2 hours if you want to not be in as much of a hurry tomorrow as you were today..

Porn of me isn't okay!

(No don't say that. Thank goodness blurting things out is harder with text message because you can delete stupid things instead of hitting send).

>[B3] trusts you completely. Come to think of it she always has...
Makes me wonder again: how did you save her? You're curious, but not enough to ask, with all the other crazy revelations you already have on your plate tonight.

>what do
Maybe see if you can deal with your brother now? That or just go to bed.

You decide to go to bed. It's tough getting to sleep because of all that's going on, but you feel that at least some of your todos will be easier in the morning.

QUESTS TO DO:
- You have a fight in the late afternoon
- You should really talk to your brother about things
- What about all that porn?
- You kind of ran off on Kith, maybe you should talk to her about that.
- Do you want to tell B3 about what happened?

END OF FIRST DAY:

SKILL POINT ALLOTMENT TIME
Your current stats:

Strength: 2 (6) [PHYS]
Precision: 2 (5) [PHYS]
Intellect: 3 (3) [MENT]
Charm: 2 (3) [MENT]
Intimidate: 2 (4) [MENT]
Speed: 2 (5) [PHYS]
Magic: 0 (5)
Self Control maximum: 20

You may use a PHYS point to increase a physical stat by 1, a MENT point to increase a mental stat by 1, and other points can be used anywhere.
You can also use a skill point to raise or lower the self control maximum by 2 points- it's easier to avoid doing bad things with a higher self control, but sometimes doing those things is the right choice.

some notes, I decided to let ment points increase your social skills as well as those can be learned/practiced.

Also, adding a bonus to your strength, etc will increase both the regular and transformed levels. Magic is one of the few skills you can't use in a diminished form out of combat, but in-combat has a much greater potential than the other skills in what you can do. Also, increasing your magic will increase your base abilities (such as letting you fly, deflect shots, etc). At even numbers you will gain a magical perk.

you can increase your magic stat using regular points, (the ones that arent phys or ment)

I guess I'll vote for a point in intellect.

First of all, since REG points apparently work as well as PHYS or MENT points at the relevant stats while also being more versatile, PHYS and MENT points should be used before REG points where applicable to allow for more flexibility when assigning later points (unless I guess you so distrust the other commenters you want to cut options off from them).

A review of what our stats have done so far:
Strength: 2 (6) [PHYS]: Melee physical attacks.
Precision: 2 (5) [PHYS]: Um, we had an option to use it or speed to back-flip once? Maybe it has been our combat style or having only magic and bludgeoning attacks, but we haven't really used Prec much.
Intellect: 3 (3) [MENT]: Finding things, learning rules, explaining things.
Charm: 2 (3) [MENT]: Friendship, social stuff and crowd pleasing.
Intimidate: 2 (4) [MENT]: Other social stuff and crowd pleasing.
Speed: 2 (5) [PHYS]: Reflexive defense, grapple escape and movement. Used quite frequently in battle so far due to functioning sort of like armor class.
Magic: 0 (5) : Ranged attack, movement, utility and prepared defense. Would likely be a straight upgrade vs Str if it weren't for how our magic is not always active and can be disabled.
Self Control: Avoid temptation to do rash decisions or not do emotionally hard actions (also I suspect bad things would probably happen if it drops to 0)

I am going to put 1 PHYS in Speed, since passive def is good to have and speed will also be useful to close in on enemies if we continue with our current brawler mage fighting style.

As a side note, 16 total stat points at a 1:1 buy rate is pretty high relative to our current stats (31 total points excluding self control, 41 including), so in meta terms I see this going one of two ways: First case, we gain less points on subsequent levels (with the first day functioning kind of like a tutorial before we choose our core build). Second case, we continue growing in power at an alarming rate compared to our initial levels (perhaps due to space ghost witchery), setting us on a path of Gurren-Lagann-like escalation. (If the second case is true and it is just us gaining power, we might want to start concealing the extent our growth until from the Authority until we have snowballed enough to take them on.)
Since we will have more ability to readjust in the second case, we should plan for the first case where we will have significantly less stat growth in subsequent levels.

...Theorycrafting is fun.

>[B3] trusts you completely. Come to think of it she always has...
We were a magical girl before the invasion, so that would have included normal magical girl things like fighting supervillains, evil spirits, and/or giant monsters, right? Maybe we saved her hometown when she was a kid.

OK, seeing it's one stat point allocation per suggester, I'll nudge one of those REG points into MAGIC because delicious even number perks.

(6 REG points left, I think)

One Regular point into Magic, if the base stat needs to be even. If it's the boosted stat that's used for perks then we've already got the first perk.

Gonna go with 1 Phys to speed.

Depending on which these are

and 2 more phys
and 5 more reg depending on the charm and int upgrade type.

No. 625291 ID: 82efdc

Okay, that's twelve hours.

I'm going to put another mental point in charm.

That brings the totals so far to:
(Not counting the two posts that didn't specify points used)

4 - 2 = 2 PHYS
5 - 4 = 1 MENT
7 - 2 = 5 REGULAR

+2 charm
+1 intelligence
+2 speed
+2 magic
+1 intimidate
>>
No. 625292 ID: 8fb9fe

1 reg point into Magic.
>>
No. 625306 ID: b60554

Assuming that we are going to get into the whole rebellion thing at some point, I'll dedicate another
+1 Ment to Intellect

No. 625311 ID: d3be40

+1 to speed.
>>

Whee, 12 hours. Strength is one of Larama's best stats so +1 STR for one PHYS point.
>>
No. 625319 ID: e607cd

Rounding out +2 to all mentals with:
1 regular point to Intimidate

I believe that just leaves 3 regular points now.
>>
No. 625331 ID: 161883

>>625319
If we use the two unspecifieds as reg does that leave one more point?
>>
No. 625336 ID: 82efdc

Totals right now are:

4 - 3 = 1 PHYS
5 - 5 = 0 MENT
7 - 4 = 3 REGULAR

+2 charm
+2 intelligence
+2 speed
+3 magic
+2 intimidate
+1 str

If we count the three votes that didn't specify points spent ( >>625256 >>625252 >>625311 for charm intelligence and speed, respectively) that still leaves us with one regular or physical point to spend.

I feel as though specializing in a stat is the best way to go for level ups. After all, they don't cost more the more you raise them, and we can choose combat techniques that favor our high stat. Also, charm seems really useful, we wound up using that stat a lot.
>>
No. 625359 ID: d3be40

>>625358
Yeah, but if real-life worked that way we'd see more scientists working in politics than a sci-fi convention.

Increasing stats is not necessarily an upgrade. It depends on the context; there are some situations where stat grinding is always effective, and situations where it is too time-consuming or even counterproductive.

For example, the Crimson Authority is likely going to notice all the shiny new Magic stat points we allotted OUTSIDE OF THE DEVICE. Wonder how that's going to play out...
>>
No. 625361 ID: ce3b31

>>625359
the magic points you're adding are only usuable when transformed. De facto, the Magic stat in Larama form is always going to be 0, and it's going to be blocked out from use when you're transformed but in a non-combat situation under Crimson control.

The upside to having better magic is versatility in the fights but it won't help you in the social game, or if you get into a fight as Larama.

Precision, as it was questioned, is what "dex" would be if your ranged attacks weren't magic. If you found yourself with a gun, then your ranged attacks WOULD be precision, but now they're just the subset of "fine control" dex skills like lock picking, balance, or watch repair

anyway still waiting on that last point to get allocated!

No. 625362 ID: 82efdc

Okay, 11 o'clock. That means it's been twelve hours, again.

Put the last regular point in strength.
>>
No. 625363 ID: ce3b31

>>625362
That gives us
Strength: 4 (8)
Precision: 2 (5)
Intellect: 6 (6)
Charm: 5 (6)
Intimidate: 4 (6)
Speed: 5 (8)
Magic: 0 (8)
Self Control maximum: 20
correct?

Magical perks:
DOWN STAR - if you are not reeling from an attack you can safely land from any height or at any velocity
FASHION STAR - you can transform your clothing when in your Mahou form. This can also be used to repair damaged clothing or as a disguise.
