"Can you stop typing and maybe just ask us for a status check?"

...

"Not even listening. Yeah, okay. Policegirl, do you have any weapons or anything?"

"I...I'm a spy, actually. Spies are usually just people who do a lot of paperwork and get employed in enemy territory."

11 sighs, eager to continue moving and not pleased with the hold-up. #2 clears his throat.

"Why are we not getting the hell out of here?"

"This is the stairway that leads down to the basement floor, where Captain last left Three and Ten."

"Huh."

"Whore is probably dead."

"Oh...Oh! 'Captain', have you checked your received files folder? I always forget to look in there when I lose things, and they always somehow get in there. I save everything to desktop so it's a bit perplexing, but there might be something you could have skimmed over?"

"You know, I could tell you what they were doing before the whole escape thing."

"Yes, Eleven, but you only know how they were testing you and what your privileges were. Anyways, the device, a laptop, I assume, should belong to someone employed here, and there should be a status report."

...Well, you might be waiting there a while. Why not.

You ask No.10 the main point of argument before #2 can recover enough to call bullshit. He makes a small movement to his mouth, probably pulling off the funky growth.

"...He's a project observing the nervous system and a tool to observe the experiment's behavior closely."

You give a silence of 'please continue'.

"...He's using Dr. Hartman to get him out of here by spying on everyone...I, uh...trying to seriously harm him like that is kind of hard for me..."
His voice is getting shaky.

"It was another male experiment, I think. He, uh, said that he-- er...Wa- That he wanted to get something for him-- and then there was someone else, the male experiment, and I think Dr. Hartman sent him..."

He lets out a shaky breath.

If #2 acknowledged this, he doesn't say.

The next room is yet another gaping maw of darkness.

"That's the tower for the main base of IADA," Hailey explains. "If he was speaking to it and knew where we were, I'm assuming Professor Alexander is in there with 5."
"What is with this place and dangerous-looking paths?" No.11's voice is notably less bitter.
"Not enough budget for flooring. It'll take an earthquake to dislodge these, don't worry."
"More about the lack of railing."

There is a short silence.

"Down that way?"
"Exit."

Another pause.

"Well, I'm sure he's a pretty okay guy and you're in zero danger, but I have this creeping feeling the facility is going to explode in a very satisfying way. I'm willing to go ahead and start up the helicopter that should be there and wait for you."
"You watch too many action movies, I think."
"I could also fly out and get help if there is a notable lack of helicopter."

"So, portal thingies!"

"Ahaaa. Didn't expect you to know anything about that... IADA is a surveillance network and defense system, as you should know by now, with that woman with you. It needs...Rather constant watch, as the experimentation make the patients rather dangerous. A few men could make a mistake or decide to rebel. They could accidentally hit the wrong switch, or spill coffee. They could become attached to the patients. 'Sir', as I've grown fond of calling him, had decided a much cheaper and safer alternative."

And it is also unfortunate that my more compliant subject has mistakenly escaped with the other half of your little...entourage, but I've gathered enough information. "It's awesome."
"Don't do that!" No.10 finally manages to choke out.
"Yeah, just because he flipped out at you doesn't mean I can't save our damn lives, stalky. It won't be too hard to reverse it, with all the experiences he's had."
"He could seriously hurt someone!"
"Everyone can. He's just a bit more likely to."
"How does that...but..."
"Be useful and pick up my friend over there, we're in a rush and can't afford to wait for him to wake up."
"..."
"Hurry!"

Scurrying of feet implies that No.10 had followed Alexander's instructions.

Wait! The 4 in the elevator was actually 8. The real 4 is locked in a storage room, the one before we ran into Alexander. We have to save her!

Hartman, the facility director who was off-camera, was killed by an enraged #2 due to Alexander's provoking. It turns out 4 was actually a disguised number 8 the whole time. 4 has been locked away in a storage closet. She was rescued as well as the human being that was merged with the security system, IADA.

Everyone escaped.
The lab blew up like 11 said.
good end

Sorry to be so random here, but this looks like one I'd like to read, so I went through the archives. The first part has a mediafire link to the story so far, only that link doesn't work. Does anyone/Could anyone put it up again so I can get started from the beginning?
