I'm a complete noobfag to tgchan, I don't draw and I'm thinking of making a quest. What can I expect?

A warm reception if it's good, a small audience if it's a textquest, not much in the way of trolling, and suggestions about dresses.

That's about the size of it.

Also.

Don't draw or can't draw?
'Cuz if you can even a little making the effort is worth it.

Text quests usually get like 2 or 3 readers. Unless they're awesome like Ant Quest or Golem Quest, then you get about as much as other quests.

I could draw unassumingly in MSPaint, but it wouldn't be pretty.

Stick figures are fine, you know. Something like this, or worse.

Quirkiness is good, try for that.
Like JimQuest was all top down and isometric and minimally illustrated, but it still got the point across quite well.
Hell, RubyQuest didn't look all that stunning but it was so expressive it didn't matter.
Color is a definite draw too. For me at least.

Wut? Photosop sucks compared to MSPaint. And I'm not saying that Paint is any good either.

depends. photoshop has a lot more tools but can get confusing while mspaint is simple. if you know where everything is and what everything does then photoshop works wonders. but until you learn all that it is like a horrid mess.

I'm going to sleep now, but I expect the thread to continue to answer my original question instead of getting further derailed into a discussion on how to draw with a mouse.

You can expect people to wander the fuck all over discussion threads with no regard for the poster's preferences.

Dig through the old threads in questdis here a bit and you'll find half a dozen 'how do I shot quest' threads with pretty good general advice.

man someone should archive those on a wiki page sometime. that someone is not me.

Since there are already links to the discussion threads with short descriptions, i smell a new "Quest Tutorial" section coming on the wiki.

I guess this time is appropriate for an innocent bump. My trip might not be accurate...

You forgot your tripcode? Not that it matters, as people aren't likely to hijack a questions thread anyways.

Beyond that, hasn't the question been answered? Text quests don't get that many readers; two or three sounds about right, assuming they stick around. Drawing, even bad drawing, attracts a few more. Take a look at MintQuest >>/questarch/153225 which doesn't have impressive art, but is still bringing in around five posters.

Honestly, how interesting the quest is will be a much bigger factor to success than the art (or lack thereof). Don't assume that you will chase off anyone due to poor art skills. Anyone who isn't interested in reading a quest due to the art probably won't read a quest with no art anyways.

At the worst, you could change it within the first chapter or two.
