Ho there future quest voting time. Puzzles and stuff everywhere. What is the protagonist's species?

Curelian - Come in three types (flight, land, water), and change based on environmental cues, but have no conscious control of their adaptations. They are completely colorblind and see in grayscale. May have wings, almost paddle-like limbs for swimming, or swift movement. They possess some form of magnetoreception and are quite dexterous.

Ezilot - Good at climbing, and have strong appendages. They can see infrared. Their skin and fur are fireproof and resistant to heat, and they adjust well to temperature shock.

Lumera - Very good at swimming, and can breathe underwater for extended (but not infinite) periods of time. They are frail and tend to damage easily, but they heal incredibly fast and have very powerful immune systems. They have active electroreception, and can manipulate electric fields. Not exclusively aquatic.

Olao - Extremely flexible, they can bend themselves to frankly disturbing extremes. Quite good at jumping, swinging, climbing, and can see in low light situations. They have prehensile tails, and are generally lightweight. Their circadian rhythms are strange, and they tire and wake fast.

I probably defined these poorly, so don't hesitate to ask about anything relating to anything.

I vote Olao for maximum sneak-into-places/escape-from-things ability.

How exactly can Lumeras manipulate electric fields? What can they do with that power?

Lets go with Lumera.

Primarily to sense the bioelectric fields of living creatures (though not magical constructs), deliver small shocks to things for various reasons, or light their bodies up like lightbulbs.

Oh derp I forgot to mention that Olao have very good hearing. Ears aren't just for show ya know.

Curelian and Lumara seem kind of hax, so...

Ezilot if it's a volcano setting and Olao if it's a fortress setting.

Hmm. I want to say Elizot for maximum 'smashing stuff' possibility, but we already have one of those, and it doesn't look likely to win, anyway.

Olao.

Barring further information on sleeping habits etc that would make them terrible, I vote Olao for acrobatic ability.

Please enlighten us about this circadian rhythm issue.

Three days sleep chart

Normal: 8 sleep hours, 16 awake hours, 8 sleep hours, 16 awake hours, 8 sleep hours, 16 awake hours.
Olao: 6 sleep hours, 12 awake hours, 6 sleep hours, 12 awake hours 6 sleep hours 12 awake hours, 6 sleep hours, 12 awake hours.

>>326635
Curelians have no control over changing, it relates to the air pressure. Complete achromatopsia is a big thing to get past. Lumera may heal fast, but they're still frail, and they can pass out if they shock something too hard, though they'll typically be aware of their own limits.

The quest WILL change based on choices here, so don't feel restricted.
>>
No. 16872 ID: 059120

Oh, everybody, from information I've gleaned from Rosque in IRC over the last two months or so, the quest is inspired mainly a vague feeling of loneliness and also Metroid, and will mainly consist of ruins exploring, and puzzles in said ruins, with a lack of focus on combat. I just thought this information would be useful for the vote.
>>
No. 16884 ID: c4c313

If metroid then Olao definitely. Wall jump ftw.

Lumera sounds like it would be the loneliest thing to be...

Maybe I'm just pining after Ven.

Here we go. This is almost entirely cosmetic, though it will have somewhat of an impact.

Male - May not actually wear a loincloth

Hermaphrodite - Far be it from me to restrict to 2

Female - The same as male, just with boobs

Ease up guys, it'll probably barely matter if it matters at all.

Also that is the most horrifying paper doll sequence I've ever seen.

You know, instead of selecting powers, I think actually you should just have all of them. Here's a quick rundown.

Telekinesis - Bread and butter. Provides force. Affecting more than one thing at a time is very difficult.

Enchant - Sticks magic in something to hold an effect. Adding symbols, markings, or other things related to the effect makes it stronger.

Draw - Recovers magic energy with time and effort.

Spirit Fire - Heals all manner of injury, proportional to the amount of energy used. Provides a small amount of light.

Generate - Creates matter. Rarely used, requires a very large amount of energy to make much of anything.

Sense - Gains intuitive knowledge of surrounding magic, enchanted objects, and immediate effects of using magic. Also enables seeing ghosts.

Associate - Links two things with each other, many effects will be passed along the link.

Shield - A barrier of magical energy, easy to make and proportional to power.

Adhere - Glues two objects together. Difficult to separate them.

That should be it, I'll go make the areas and stuff.

What kinds of effects?
>>
No. 17087 ID: a594b9

Gosh I hope so.

Having all these abilities is either going to be gamebreaking or most of them are going to feel useless.
>>
No. 17089 ID: 8bdb6a

>>326887
Ooor it's just a solid skillset. None of these seem particularly game breaking, and we presumably only have the energy to run one or two at a time.
>>
No. 17090 ID: 0b2a05

>>326877
An accomplished spirit mage, but not much beyond that. These are the abilities all spirit mages should have, though they vary in strength, some might be better at some than others etc.

>>326887
You should've seen what I was GOING to let you choose...

>>326886
It really depends on how you link things, like, you could link a giant gear with a smaller one, then turn the smaller one to turn the larger one. It'll be far more difficult than just turning the smaller one, and far less difficult than turning the larger one. Think limited voodoo doll. Most enchantments also.

>>326889
Indeed, there's gonna be a magic meter and everything.
>>
No. 17133 ID: 620bfb

Even with all these powers, I hope we find new ones as we go in true metroid style. And we get fanservice for high completion.
