So in combat:

Strela is an adherent of the VIPER Aspect. This and her magic gives her a few different techniques she can bust out. She can gain new ones by training with people or capturing spirits. At that point I'll work with all of y'all to come up with a new move.

After every technique she does she needs to briefly recharge. I'll let you know when the option comes to fire off another.

SPITTING COBRA: A flurry of close-range jabs that carry with them a toxicity that slows her opponent down.

RISING TWIST: An ensorcelled spinning kick that hurls an enemy into the air.

STING: A solid, ebony dart that fires from her palm. Takes a second to conjure up, making it vulnerable up close.

RATTLESNAKE KICK: A solid kick to the face that briefly robs the opponent of their sight. Strela needs room to stretch her leg out to its full span to use it. Hitting them hard enough again will remove its affects.

TRICK DROP: Strela can bewitch the opponent's mind into thinking they've hit her when they haven't. It only lasts a moment, but it's a useful moment.

LIMBLOCK: An ultraclose range stab of Strela's thumb causes the opponent's arm or leg to fail to work. They need to take the time to will it back into action.

Nice endgame gear.

So, in the intro Bruco looked fairly surprised to hear that he's getting married to Strela. If that wasn't his intent, what was the duel initially about?

Now I want to ask about two things:
Bruco's aspect of the Boar.
and how many aspects/tribes are out there.

>>93630
Bruco's Boar is a heavier, defensive aspect, focused on a connection with the ground and a strong core. It comes with its own suite of Techniques, which I'll share if we ever control Bruco. Kind of 50/50 on whether that'll happen.

Strela knows of 12 tribes in total.

Aww thank you anon!
Yes, Strela's name is intentional. Originally she was supposed to have a mask. This is the first pic I drew of her.

Anyway here's Strela's updated Technique List:

ROPE CHARMER: Strela can animate a rope to attack her opponent, entangling or choking them. She can keep control for 5 seconds or until she's distracted out of it.

Hey Brom, I got a question.

Earlier in the quest, I had assumed that hybrids are impossible because I have no idea what a monkey-cat person would look like, and when I suggested that Strela tell Bruco it's okay for him to have an ape-wife for having children's sake, it was built off that assumption. However, when Strela took my suggestion and said it outloud herself, the wording had the implication that hybrids ARE possible.

So, can I get a confirmation that they are possible or was my original assumption correct? I'd love to be wrong and see an apecat, especially whatever color scheme they would have. I'm guessing brownish? I wish there was an online palette simulator that would let me see the outcome.

Am I the only one who thought of this?
>Trimond's magic is taking hearts
>The spirit is 'in love' with him
One could say Trimond has stolen the spirit's heart, hmm? And in return, the spirit helps him get more hearts?

Sorry the hammock didn't win last update but the portable hole doesn't work like that.
Stuff can go in or stuff can go out. That's all it can do. Also there's no oxygen in there.
And no there's not a big enough opening for a person to go through.
Unless they're a baby. You monsters.

>>93737
If they have a kid it'd be a hybrid. If the hybrid has kids it'd be a Leonial.

Not to be nicky picky, but with the latest update I'm wondering how the options selection works. Because there were two votes for 7, and arguable one "not 7" vote, and that one went through, while two votes went for 3, and it didn't.

I mean Strela isn't exactly miss sociability and it works fine if she has a bias towards following the suggested actions that fit her personality/current mood the most, so that'd be ok, I'm just wondering if that actually is officially the case.

Yeah, I didn't expect the portable hole to be friendly or conducive to life. That was meant to be a Strella-makes-an-obviously-mean-joke-at-Bruco thing.

It is the ONLY way to play Strella and still get a romance end. If we were playing as Bruco, who KNOWS how off rails this romance is gonna go or if it is even achievable.
Plus, we can't simply have the father get what he wants off the bat. We HAVE to piss him off as much as possible. Otherwise, we really will have to kill that old man to save our pride. Maybe that's okay.

At least she ain't no yandere.

I'm not being romantic, I'm trying to have fun. I don't care if it doesn't work in the end. I know we're hurting Bruco, and it feels so right.
I still want the romance end, but I'm fine with a failure.

A few more pointers on summoning spirits:

-- Spirits are crafty, but not dishonest. They might try tricks to make you pay slightly more or disadvantage your bargaining position, but they will never cheat you, and their gifts don't Monkey's Paw Backfire at the drop of a hat. They are interested in doing business.

-- You don't set the terms for the incantation: you just ask for its help. IT sets the price, and you can never know that price until you summon it. Knowing the exact spirit you want MIGHT help, but that takes research.

-- Once you know the price, you have a small window to haggle. Then you have to pay it or the spirit will try to kill you.

-- Spirits will not ratchet up the price dependent on the situation, as >>/quest/661821 suggests. Everything has a known value, and any exterior factors will not affect it. It's based on raw amount of power used, not the way it's used. Spirits want to reach an agreement as much as the sorcerers do, so they can go home again. But if you can't pay you can't pay.

-- Prices are almost always payable. They might be high even unto the point of life-ruining, but usually the tasks with prices you truly can't pay are self-evident.

-- A spirit's task can't be reassigned. Once you've summoned it you can't tell it to do something else unless that was in the terms of the request from the beginning. No trying to weasel out that way.

-- Spirits are very powerful. Fighting one unprepared is almost certain death.

This is all in an effort to create a system of magic that is useful but not to be taken lightly. A magic system that tries to undermine its user every time it's used ceases to be useful, but the consequences for overextending are severe.

It will not backfire on you as long as you respect its rules and know your limits.

That many sorcerers refuse to respect rules and see themselves as limitless is where it gets tricky.

Kome I am really digging how unafraid you are of casting incantations and I think it's a banner thing to do but I don't think you're quite getting it, so a couple reminders:

1- You need to know exactly what you want the spirit to do. The more clear the goal the better. Suggesting that an incantation happen and that it be a powerful spirit, then not elaborating on what that incantation actually do, is a bad idea.

2- Like I've said, you don't set the terms; the spirit does. You've tried setting the terms for an incantation twice now. Doesn't work like that. You're playing their game; they aren't playing yours.

I just realized something about what Blockage said.
>And ya CAN'T tell your wife I need that.

... But He could Tell someone else, who could tell Stella, since Bruco wouldn't actually be telling her anything.

Once Stella is on board with the remaining requirements, a proper cantrip trap can be developed.

I feel like trapping the spirit of contraception could be insanely powerful.
The Corsairs Depend on the Tyrant star to reproduce, yes? What if it suddenly became barren at our whim?
>>
No. 100399 ID: 91cfcf

>>100392
Not particularly. They still have a home planet, there's no indication Blockage is powerful enough to do that, and he's said he works by stopping the sperm from coming out of the testicles, so realistically we could probably make one male Corsair sterile at a time.
>>
No. 100402 ID: 3e182c

>>100399
This is a real possibility. However he is a spirit of contraception, so there might be a chance. Even if cant do something so grand' more cantrips are always a good thing, and I don't see why we shouldn't try to capture him. especially since he gave us so much time to do so.

True, but given that he's in our balls I don't like thinking about what capturing him might involve doing to Bruco. I'm pretty sure regrowing bits would be super expensive.

Actually, I think Bruco's the kind of guy who would actually prefer to focus fully on his new wife for the duration of a honeymoon. He's got a bit of romance in his soul. He'd think about it, sure, probably be a little surprised (though not so much at this point, I'd guess) by Strela being ok with it, and maybe be a tad uncomfortable.

That's my reading, anyway.

After going back and reading through the previous threads, I just thought of something that could fuck up one of our conditions to the spirit Peregrinate: Mind Readers!

I'm sure they rarely show up, but there might be a time where we run into one and they read Bruco's and/or Strela's mind. That would end up making us fail the condition of not letting anyone but Bruco and Strela know about the body swap!
>>
