What country does this college take place in, and how much in debt is Noah in for attending it? Does he have scholarships?

Just curious in CASE we have to drop out of college to survive.

The college is in the US, in the fictional town of Shiloh, Vermont! It's an expensive liberal arts college, but all of the Occult Club members are from rich and/or famous families that can very much afford to pay their tuition.

So The Secret History with the occult rather than greek mythology?

Count me in.

Going off of this, is the political situation the same as in our world, or are we in an entirely different reality?
How common are demons and their ilk? More generally, can you give us an overview of the cosmology?

Pretty much everything is outwardly the same between this universe and ours! Demons and the supernatural aren't widely known to exist - you only really know they're real if you've gotten mixed up in it yourself, or have a close friend/relative/partner who is. The only alternate-history type deal in this universe is the existence of a small government department that deals specifically with paranormal cases and crimes (think something like the BPRD from Hellboy), but there's a good chance that they won't be showing up in Noah and co.'s story.

As far as occult nonsense goes, demons sit somewhere around much less common than ghosts and poltergeists, much more common than pretty much anything else. It's pretty much simply by virtue of there being a lot of them, and them loving to mess with humans.

>pretty much anything else
What else is there? Angels? Fairies? Yokai? Eldrich abominations?
>>

>>98507

Angels are probably the next common after demons, yeah! They don't tend to pop up much because they a) sometimes accidentally drive humans mad and b) usually get reprimanded for meddling in human affairs at all. Also the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse are ostensibly running around somewhere, but they don't show their faces too often unless something real big is about to go down.

So do things like Supernatural, Buffy, Sleepy Hollow, etc. exist as tv shows in this universe?
>>

>>98509

Demons can be "killed", but they either heal instantaneously or respawn in Hell depending on the extent of their injuries.

>>98510

Yep, they exist! Since most of the general population doesn't know that supernatural stuff is real, they're still considered fiction. The few lucky people who are embroiled in real life supernatural drama tend to find shows like those to be utter bullshit, though.

You mentioned the four horsemen, but what other important supernatural beings are running around? Does Satan exist? What about the grim reaper, or God, or gods? Do angels have a hierarchy? Apparently demons can be nobles, are they working on some sort of feudal system?
>>
No. 98515 ID: c1eaac

>>98514

Yep, Satan exists! He's still the King of Hell, which involves a lot of political nonsense these days, and prefers to go by the name Samael. Hell does have something that amounts to a feudal system, but the nobles love to try and cause scandal and screw each other over politically as much as possible. They're demons, so. What else would you really expect

Angels work by the Christian angelic Hierarchy. There are actually two Reapers, and God definitely exists, as do the gods of most other pantheons. Each pantheon has its own "zone" of the underworld - a desert "zone" for the Egyptian pantheon, a wintery wasteland for Hades, a bustling city for Hell, etc, so on and so forth. None of the pantheons tend to bother much with the affairs of humans, as a lot of them have become essentially obsolete and prefer to stay "retired".

So are souls a thing, and so is the afterlife, or are these zones really just zones, other dimensions or planets that really have nothing to do with creation of the universe or the transfer of consciousness between bodies.

If souls DO go to an afterlife, what determines which goes to which afterlife? Is it based on belief system? Can we make a new afterlife (and supernatural creatures) through the power of faith? Ugh, that would mean Xenu's definitely around. AND Cthulhu, maybe, but no one really believes in Cthulhu, so no.

Souls and the afterlife are a thing! Which afterlife you get sent to depends on your belief system, so most people end up either in Heaven or Hell. If you don't have any strong religious beliefs, you start in Hell as kind of a "default", because it's in the center of the underworld and it's fairly easy to travel to all of the other zones from there (Hell has a subway system, which pretty much blew everyone's minds when it was built.)

Does faith create supernatural creatures? If no, then what happens when you worship an entity with no supernatural equivalent? Does Zenu exist?
>>
No. 98520 ID: c1eaac

>>98518

There are no recorded instances of faith creating supernatural creatures from scratch, so general consensus is that it's not something that happens. People who worship gods or creatures that don't exist are given pretty much the same treatment as people with no strong set of religious beliefs - dumped in Hell and left to choose their own path from there.

Geeze, do you have any idea how hard it is to dig a grave in the woods in this part of the county. You stick a shovel in the ground are there are rocks everywhere.

They either lucked out with local geography or the grinning murderer there has relentless determination and energy to get that done with just a shovel, and in short order.

since you guys are being faced with Choice Time, i can field basic questions about the other occult club members if you want to get a feel for what they're like before you choose! obvs you've seen lucas a little already, and oakley's been touched on, but mona and reynard haven't gotten much screentime yet.

also an Aamon without their mask! the masks are purely a formality, but it's probably better that the demons don't take them off.

Don't switch the blade on the guuuy in shades, oh no.

I know Lucas slit a girl's throat but he kind of looks like a marshmallow peep next to this new drug-dealer looking stranger. Maybe don't fight them. Just tucking the scarf over his shoulder and giving a little vague explanation would be okay? Let Lucas make a new friend! They could even be useful later since if they're not in the game, they won't have a reason to betray him later.

i think someone mentioned it earlier but dont we only know 5 of a set of 7 demons?? what if there ARE 7 of them running around and not just 5 and there are 2 more kids to worry about?? im kind of worried this new person might be part of the game, and maybe we shouldn't fuck with them.

i mean, i have no idea what will happen if lucas stabs them, but i am also 100% unwilling to find out. lets play it cool and maybe see if we can find out more first?

I kinda get the impression Shades Guy might be playing dumb about the blood or the shovels. Maybe they just don't care? Either way that doesn't make me super inclined to trust them.
