Hello, my name is Sarah. I've been locked in this room just recently and now I can't get out. Apparently, because of my two little horns, I have been able to practice magic that communicates with spirits, so I seek your help now. Please help me escape.

Okay, but that will take a little while. So, start by the east wall, there's a little... thingy... kinda like a symbol crafted there on the wall. It looks like something could be inserted in the two hollow parts. Next, the south wall. It's quite far from here and there's only a mirror against it. There's nothing else down there. On the west wall, there's a little shelf with what appears to be a stick onto it. Or a handle, whatever: it's a cylindrical PIECE OF WOOD. On the floor, there is a BROKEN SHOVEL HEAD and an half-dug hole; it looks like the ground is good enough to dig here. There's also some kind of safe with the opening mechanism on top, which is weird. Finally, on the north wall, from right to left, there are three buttons, a little hatch, a window with a piece of cloth over it, a long metal pole stuck by its two extremities, and a door with two knobs. Both knobs don't work because they are drawn and not real.
>>

Did you dig the hole? do the drawn knobs have holes in them?

The knobs are only black circles. No holes, nothing. As for the hole, I couldn't have done it; I just got there recently and it was like this when I came in. Whoever did left the BROKEN SHOVEL HEAD behind when they went away.

Hello, Sarah! Do you mind if we ask a few questions about you?

First, what happened before you were locked in the room? Did someone put you there? Did you walk in by yourself? Did you just wake up here?

What was the last thing you recall from your "normal" life. For example, were you going to school, did you work, did you live with your family? Any idea how long it has been between your normal life and being in this room?

What are you good at? Any unique talents, beyond communicating with spirits?

What are you carrying with you?

>Hello, Sarah! Do you mind if we ask a few questions about you?
As long as I can answer and it can help us, I will answer.

>First, what happened before you were locked in the room? Did someone put you there? Did you walk in by yourself? Did you just wake up here?
I woke up there. This room smells of metal, I hate all things that relate to metal... I'd never head in here voluntarily.

>What was the last thing you recall from your "normal" life. For example, were you going to school, did you work, did you live with your family? Any idea how long it has been between your normal life and being in this room?
I've only been in this room as far as when I called for your help, spirits. Before that, I was teaching at Carolyna Highschool. I'd... rather not speak of the members of my family.

>What are you good at? Any unique talents, beyond communicating with spirits?
I can moo extraordinarily well and some told me I am a good teacher.

>What are you carrying with you?
A piece of STRING that was cut from a blouse I have at home and the BROKEN SHOVEL HEAD.

Okay then, time to examine our surroundings!

Starting with the hole, can you dig any deeper with your hands? Is it loose dirt, rock, or something differnet? Check under the dirt pile, too, to see if something is hidden underneath.

Examine the safe. Check what kind of lock it is, and if it can be moved. Also, check if you can open it; it may already be unlocked.

I've tried to open the hatch and the safe, but both are locked. The buttons aren't even labeled either... I can see some kind of little hollow portion near them; maybe the labels need to be lit up by some sort of mechanism or something. In the dirt, there wasn't anything interesting; then I tried to dig in the hole, only getting my hands dirty. The ground is too hard for me to dig without the SHOVEL. As for the stick, it could make a shovel handle, but it doesn't stay on. I'm so clueless about what to do... *Depression*

Yes. The numbers, however, are all the same. They're all fives. What am I meant to do with that?.. Even if I had the code, it would look like "5-5-5"...

There seems to be twelve fives in a circle... the arrow is apparently pointing at the ninth five if we take the northernmost one as #1.

I guess I could try to work the SHOVEL HEAD to the WOODEN CYLINDER with the piece of STRING, but it wouldn't be very solid and could break at any moment... I'd need more cloth and something else to make them stick together. There are loads of glue in my desk, back at Carolyna Highschool. If only I could access that...

Have you tried pressing the back of the symbol on the east wall? Try pressing with the PIECE OF WOOD.

Back on the west wall, examine the shelf again. Can the shelf be removed? Look undernearth the shelf, in case something is stuck on the underside or behind the shelf, against the wall.

Try pulling on the metal pole.

Also, one last question about yourself. You mentioned that you are a teacher; do you remember the names of any of your students?

Set it to position 1.
From there, turn it to position 5.
Then back the other way to position 10.
Then the first way to 3, then back towards 8.
Keep this up until every pattern that can result has been tried.
If we assume it's a three position combo, then at one attempt every three seconds it will take 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 24 seconds.
However, if you can put some tension on the mechanism then you can exploit a mechanical weakness in how the lock works in order to narrow down the possible combinations to a mere handful.

I could tell you more if you could tell me more about the lock.

>Have you tried pressing the back of the symbol on the east wall? Try pressing with the PIECE OF WOOD.
I try that... nothing interesting happens.

>Can the shelf be removed? Look undernearth the shelf, in case something is stuck on the underside or behind the shelf, against the wall.
The shelf is firmly stuck to the wall and there's nothing under or between it and the wall. Aw, I thought we were on to something here.

>Try pulling on the metal pole.
If it does something, my strength is not enough to pull it hard enough for it to do whatever it must do. That's if it does something... which I think it doesn't. Maybe something goes inside... if I pulled too hard and got covered with water, yeesh.

>do you remember the names of any of your students?
Of course. I remember them all... Yasmina, Rance, Georjia, Cannie, Walter, David, Trish, Kalec, Mint, Oulan, Paprika, Jane, Lorry, Sovia, Maria, Sandy, Philip, Neon, Roxanne and Marc.

>>159033
I'm not CRAFTY enough to do anything remotely complicated with the lock! This makes my head spin, I don't know if I could do that. Beside, the lock looks strange enough, maybe it can't be unlocked by simply inputting three numbers like a real combination lock. Maybe there's four, or... five? Or even more. Maybe fifty five. And how to know which one is the good one?

>>159057
I tie the STRING around the SHOVEL HEAD and the WOODEN STICK, to make a FEEBLE SHOVEL! It's so poorly made it will only resist digging one and only one hole, so I must be careful. If the string snaps, I can't put it back around both pieces.

Attempt to pry the metal rod off the wall, using the PIECE OF WOOD (now Shovel Handle) as leverage.

Treating the combination lock as a clock (12 on top), try entering the combinations 8:12:12 and 8:12:1.

Check behind the window to the north! Use the PIECE OF WOOD (now Shovel Handle) to pull the the cloth aside.

There's nothing on the ceiling apart from the ceiling itself.
As for the cloth... I pull, I pull, I pull but it doesn't come off. If I had something to cut it with, I could probably get most of it, but otherwise, it's stuck hard on the window frame.

The note is really only a 5, but there seems to be something on the other side. Looks like it was voluntarily mostly erased, though.

I try to get the fifth five five times, and once I pass the northern five for the fifth time, it seems it unlocked. Or at least something happened inside. I still turn the arrow over to the fifth five, but nothing more happens.

159639

Not an update per say, but more of an intermission, if you can call it as such. I would like to take a moment to discuss about suggestions. Since the beginning, there have been suggestions about a variety of things and I seldom have to make choices about what I follow and not; most of the time, I end up clogging it all together in one post and only draw one of those suggestions. However, that's not what I'd like.

If you all anonymous suggesters could come to some sort of consensus about what would be the next action, it would be greatly appreciated. Remember Weaver's poem:

The flock that could not work together
Are sure still trapped in Hell.

I particularly love those lines because that's what will happen if we keep taking the character we want to help and stretch him/her/it in every direction at once. I'm not asking for 1 post between each update, but please, come to a common, accepted suggestion. As it stands, I will only post the next update once we know what we want to do. Do we want to push a button? How to do it? do we want to turn the note around? Do we want to knock on the wall/door? We have to make a choice somewhere, we can't try everything. Each action takes time for the character to do, and time is of the essence in these kinds of quests.

See it this way: if Sarah does 4 things that total out 8 minutes, perhaps within that 8 mins you'd have wanted to do something else instead that would be more relevant. The more time the characters lose, the more they can find themselves horribly, violently torn apart. I'm not saying there's no safe spot, but there is life outside of their rooms, and that life is also active.

All I ask for is a common suggestion. I will update once this has been reached.

If you would prefer you can put your chest to the brick wall as you remove your bra, and your skirt provides cover if you remove your panties. Though the bra may be strong enough by itself. If you have an under-wire that might be useful as another tool.

Third Button. It's likely to bring up another number, perhaps the third of the three fives we need for the combination. Most combination locks use 0 as the very top, so it could work.

And what if there's a second combination lock? Don't question my flawed logic and not-pay-attention disorder.

Anyway, the numbers have to be important for something, or they wouldn't have been there. I'm guessing button 3 makes the next number appear, by a logical point of view, albeit my logic is flawed, and it could be a trap that crushes you with the ceiling.

I'm actually wondering if the third button clears the yellow numbers, requiring us to enter 1100100000 to open the door. We won't really know until we tried the third button.

Of course, just because a solution has been used once doesn't mean it won't be used again. We keep finding the same symbols repeatedly, after all.

I guess we're digging the hole, unless we can queue actions. In that case, "dig hole, push third button" seems to be recommended.

I head over to finish digging the hole then. I hope the shovel will keep itself together until I'm done. While I do that, which takes a couple of minutes, the yellow numbers flash out and a screen opens up on the wall. It says INVALID INPUT. Inside of the hole, once it's finally dug completely, I find something metallic and long, and sharp too... but it's too long, I can't take it. I'd need to dig where its second part is, but the shovel returned to pieces, as did the string. R.I.P, you will be missed.
>>
No. 162768 ID: 4cf60c

Good to know there is something in the hole, although we will need to get the shovel in useable condition to fully dig whatever it is out.

Any ideas on the buttons, or should we start entering combinations at random until we start seeing a pattern?

It's possible, but... a cycling binary number line? Why bother with two buttons that do exactly the same thing?

Well, the "5" from earlier might indicate that we should add up to the number 5. 5 in binary is 101 though, which we've already done, so I'm not sure what's different. Perhaps top-middle-top? Or do we have anything else that might be interpretted as a three digit number?

I guess we could return to the remove-skirt-reinforce-shovel idea.

Well, it's sensible for you to be afraid, but what is the alternative? We've exhausted every option available in this room.

The way I see it you have three choices:

A) Fix that shovel and keep digging (You know what that means).

B) Put in the code.

C) Wait for who/whatever put you here to come back.

Which would you rather do? I'm pretty sure C is going to happen by itself if you don't act. From what we've seen so far, that's not a pretty sight to behold.

You don't want to know.

in the hole you found a pipe. however you could not dig deep enought to remove it.

on the walls, have you analyzed the balcony and the symbol? it may have indentations or something of the likes.

is there a loose brick on the "window"?

can you estimate where the second part of the digged out pipe is?

I might have a better idea:

Try using the shovel head to bang on the bricks.

Maybe there will be a response.

Then again, the rooms may not be connected in the way we think.

There's nothing else on the shelf, neither behind (I can't check there) or under. It's solidly attached to the wall so I can't take it away either. For the symbol on the wall, the middle part separates it into two indentations; it looks like plates of some sort could fit there.

>does the 3 buttons stopped responding?
Completely.

>is there a loose brick on the "window"?
It's as flat as a board. It doesn't quite feel like a brick wall either. I get the feeling this room is just one big joke, with the drawn knobs and all that.

>can you estimate where the second part of the digged out pipe is?
It couldn't possibly go from one side to the other of the room, could it? Though it looks long...

>What's with Mint all of a sudden? Did you learn things you could share with me?

We interacted with a girl named Mint earlier. As far as we can tell, she's trapped in a similar situation you are. We just had a flash image of her in an identical room as yours, hence checking if we could view that room again.

As for the code, the only ones that make any sense are RWOC and the individual buttons being various commands. However, the "Enter code for access" does not imply individual commands.

You could always pull off your skirt and secure the shovel, too.
