Synchronizing... done.

I'm Riel, or actually ║╝riel•¬. I misplaced a pointer a while ago and it kind of messed up the place in memory where my name was, thus the junk data. I'll have to deal with this for now, until I find any data on myself around the place.

I'm an AI, female, full personality, embodied and trained for extended combat purposes.
Compiled at h19:20d1Em0AyA5B standard time.

I found you in a spherical omni-capacitor carried by your companions. You must've finally run out of power after all these centuries, that's why the amnesia and recent collapse. You're lucky I didn't eliminate them right away, as the blue haired one stopped me in time to prove they're not Zein spies or explorers. They said you were broken, though you were only exhausted. There was no other way of preserving you than transfer into myself. About two weeks have passed since your collapse.

Such a material was a rarity even at the time of my creation, and I'm about 600 years old. It's not uncommon to find an omni stone, but it's really a different thing to find a charged one. They're like capacitor stones, but running on raw energy. The means to recharge one are yet unknown.

The flame-red and her friend are resting at human quarters, the cat wizard and cobalt gunslinger are rummaging through data archives, and the half-elohe priestess is exploring the citadel. They said that the 'kid' returned to his home in Zein. Also, you might not know some of them.
Oh, and you're at Arkeile, known as the "outcast citadel". Or what's left of it. The place I'm bound to guard for eternity, to atone for my terrible mistake that led to the destruction of this magnificent community.

"No, one that we hijacked while escaping. They shot us down in the middle of the desert..."

The intercom suddenly dies. An alarm starts.

Shit, trespassers. Most likely followed your group here.
I gotta prepare and intercept them - NOW. All communications will be down while the alert's up, due to the noise sent out to kill any contact with the outside world.

I should be getting ready for the fight. I was told you were a good combat advisor, so I'll let you lead me in this battle to see how much of it is true. I don't expect a strong force out here, so it should be safe enough.
>>
No. 214128 ID: 043790

okay, but you will need to give us a rundown of what you are capable of, what weapons and such are available, etc.

i will say that shutting down internal communications due to an outside threat is very backwards. it renders it nearly impossible to coordinate a good defense.

I installed this measure myself when this place was abandoned. I don't need a radio since I'm working alone, and it keeps them from calling backup or revealing my position. This system is automated to trigger if any radio traffic is detected near the noise beacons hidden around, so it easily filters occasional lone travelers and refugees from Zeinian military scum.

About my combat prowess, let me see... I'm a bit rusty from guarding this place, so it may take time to reach my full potential.

Allocate six abilities. Some of them have certain prerequisites. Some abilities can be stacked when leveled more than once. The result will be a compromise between the most reasonable suggestions.

Battle Mode
Passive.
Enables melee combat.
Cannot be upgraded.

Forcefield
Active (3% Energy), Instant
Shields Riel from a part of physical damage for the next attack. Improves with each level.
Maximum level: 3

Channel
Passive.
Enables casting of energy and magic skills. Each level cuts the time required for any skill.
Maximum level: 3

Combo
Passive.
Adds a 50% chance to strike again in melee. Number of maximum additional strikes adds with level.
Maximum level: 10
Required: Battle Mode

Aim
Active (No Energy), Instant
Doubles your ranged hit rate for a certain enemy. Does not stack, can target one at a time only.
Cannot be upgraded.
Required: Battle Mode

Dash
Active (1% Energy), Instant
Lets you move quickly to any area on the ground in sight, as long as there's nothing in the way.
Cannot be upgraded.
Required: Forcefield

Repel
Active (4% Energy), Instant
Pushes away all enemies in range.
Cannot be upgraded.
Required: Forcefield

Regenerate
Active (5% Energy), 1 turn
Slightly heals, and regenerates all body parts' condition a little. Amplifies with each level.
Maximum level: 3
Required: Channeling

I would take 2 points out of the Bare Hands category, allocating them to Small Guns or Heavy Guns so Riel has a ranged option. Sometimes it's just too dangerous to rush into melee, for example if the enemy has set down mines or if they're laying down suppressive fire.

Would the use of heavy weapons going to interfere with Riel's melee capabilities? If so then go with the smaller weapons.

Even if she wasn't atoning, she wouldn't have another option. If she leaves, bad people will gewt access to tech that will only be used to hurt or maim innocents, or something like that. So even if she 'got over' that thing she did, she cannot leave. I was about to say, she should try to stop living in the past and do something that has a discernable effect now, but... She already is. The most we can do for her is advise her. We aren't psychologists, and even if we were, she isn't asking for it, which means, it's not our issue. Only if it actually effects her job, or if she asks for our help, should we intrude on the issue of what she did. Otherwise, she'll just get mad at us for butting into her own business. How she mourns is up to her.

Kanes told us what he discovered that resulted in him initially fleeing and being pursued by Zein. He figured that to prevent an outrageous tragedy he would need outside help. The story, though, is rightfully his to tell. Ask and I'm sure he'll share.

He's more than just a gunslinger, too. That one is a skilled inventor, a genuine prodigy with computer systems and programming, though all his expertise is in early computer systems. If you let him play with the systems here, expect him to get the hang of them very quickly. And unlike most inventors, he was wise enough to recognize when the political situation at home became dangerous for the entire world.

The two lovebirds were dragged into Kanes' flight by chance, when they took pity on Kanes and helped him recover from an air crash that by rights no one should have survived. He was well out of Zein by that point, but its agents still pursued him, and they were able to turn the lovebirds local warlords against them too.

I suppose the story is similar for the wizard and cleric, though I've never met them.

We postulated that the Elohe were genetically modified sapient beings based on the human template and designed with an eye toward longevity, navigating low-gravity or centripetal reference frame environments, and maintaining reproductive compatibility with humans. Was this correct, or would suggesting such a thing to the cleric be an insult?

Kanes
"Well, it's time we actually told you..."

Riel
"No need, the orb informed me. What's the situation?"

Kanes
"A war is about to break out, a very unfair one. Zein is going to attack northern lands, they want to seize the secrets of magic, and then with its use conquer the rest of the world, or even try and go back on Terra. The possibilities of disaster are endless."

Riel
"The enemies of Zein are my friends. Is there anything you plan?"

Ilya
"Yes, the best bet would be to warn my home, White Citadel. While we are capable of formidable resistance, we knew nothing. I was sent out to scout who's approaching the place, and got seized along with the group here. They are good people and I support their cause whole-heartedly. However, time is of the essence so I'll ask straight: are there any functional Titans docked in this settlement?"

Riel
"Only mine is ready to roll, others will need minor maintenance to be fully operational. I suppose you want to use them to cross the ocean? I warn you that only that one will be able to scale this distance without refueling."

Ilya
"It is enough."

Kanes
"I'd like to mention one more thing... before I left those scoundrels, there was a word about a location far to the north that isn't the Citadel. They called it a 'beacon' and planned on moving the Palace there. You see, the imperial palace is in fact a gigantic air fortress that wouldn't have any problems moving there. Can we know what is there of such importance that they might take the effort of moving the heart of the empire there?"

Ilya
"Why haven't you told us that earlier!? This is the crash site of the second Ark, whose inhabitants were the ancestors of northern land's people. If they got there... there would be no need to fight. With their sheer numbers, and artifacts of our technology to reverse-engineer... we would be doomed. They could even find... no, even you can't know. So cannot them."

Kanes
"...
I volunteer to take a Titan and go warn them."

Riel
"That's dangerous... but as I've heard, this isn't the first time you're going to try that. I'll get Judgment ready tomorrow then. Please, make sure to return it to me in one piece."

Zariene
"Miss Riel, what happened to the Orb, and what can be done? It was, while annoying, a valuable advisor. It wouldn't be all right to leave it like that after what we went through."

Pheriel
"I'm also interested. After all, the very purpose of me being here is my research of the fabled 'psyche orb', which probably is the trinket in question."

Kanes
"Are you sure it's the only reason?"

Pheriel chuckles.
Pheriel
"Oh, shut up."

Riel
"The Orb is made of a material called an omnicapacitor stone, omni for short. It is a rare version of a capstone which runs on raw energy, of no element nor manifest - except its faint blue glow. The means to recharge one besides channeling from one into another are unknown, and charged ones are very rare. Nano-sized shards are used to power computer systems' basic functions, and larger crystals are formed into cores of artificial beings such as me."

Technically I'm using up my heart out at double rate by keeping you here, but I don't want them to know. They'd feel bad asking me to keep you, but I want to help.

Asgeria
"Kanes... do you remember when I told you what capstones are? You said they're mining for such things... perhaps they found omni stones as well among the others?"

Kanes
"I don't know of any stones that my team did... wait. I think I may have seen that blue glow before."

Riel
"That means?"

Kanes
"The steering system of the flying fortress. We were told to include a blue crystal, at the power nodes. It essentially works to cut down the energy output of the capstones, as it works as a semi-conductor that doesn't heat up. We didn't find a way to channel energy out of it."

Riel
"So... they have a nicely sized, charged omnistone?"

Kanes
"Yes."

Riel
"And removing it would..."

Kanes
"Destroy the fortress from energy overload. The capstones would pop open, the engines would burn and the fortress fall."

Riel
"Is there any minor aircraft stationed in the fortress?"

Kanes
"There is... I know what you're thinking, but this is suicide."

Riel
"So is your plan, I know what I'm doing. Attention, everyone!"

auto-check

A little explaination on channeling, since nobody tried it in battle:
Chanelling magic requires a catalyst of a certain spell, with power regulated by its level. The energy burned is 5%*level casted. Effect depends on the level and on Channeling skill.
An exception from the energy rule is the omni catalyst. It burns HP instead, at a rate of 40*level but is more powerful than others and doesn't have an element.

Energy regenerates from sunlight(slow) or by draining a capstone.

You can use channeling outside of battle to solve problems impossible to do with physical force.

I found something. It's a smaller, old gate. Looks like it's been sealed in a rush.

I don't see anyone around either.

Excellent, I would most certainly wreak havoc in this rathole and make it easier for me to move around, but... how the hell do I know where to look for communication relays? I don't know this place at all. A map would be handy, but the only thing I can do at the moment is memorize the places I've been to.

Bloody hell. What has happened here? It looks like a junkyard, but even more messed up.

Oh hell. I don't like this. I don't like this at all. No, even I wouldn't bring this one door down.
And this is the only alternative to getting lost in oceans of rubble.

This must be one of the tunnels - they lead to separate sectors, as far as I remember. This must be an unused gate and an abandoned exit tunnel... but I'm more interested in the fact WHAT the flying monkey's last fuck just broke into there, and why?

Oh great. Sentient waste, primitive life forms that evolved just like any life - except that their natural habitat happened to be sewage and scrap. They try to absorb anything that can be turned into energy - and anything that moves. But thankfully, they're slow and fragile.

A mechanical lock in shape of a card slot, though so complex it's impossible to pick it. It proves that these tunnels are old, even from before they rediscovered the usage of electricity.

I proceed further into the tunnel. There's a gate here which is most likely an exit to the inner city. I'm not sure how it works, but it seems to be more modern than the previous one.
The tunnel continues east, and is blocked by rubble on the opposite.
