Damn it. Backing down from a fight because I don't think I can take it? I suck! What am I going to do if I get in a situation where I have to fight something like that? I'm gonna get wasted, that's what.

I think maybe I'm lacking focus here. I'm trying to do all the things kobolds AND dragons do all at once and it's spreading me too thin. I gotta dedicate to something. I may be a weird dog-lizard thing, but being a dog-lizard thing gives me options!

I can combine dragon strength and kobold agility to become a good Fighter.

I could lean toward the kobold side. Work on speed, stealth and sneak attacks. I could be the best Thief or Assassin.

or I could work the dragon side and learn to harness all that magic. All kinds of people descended from dragons have become powerful Sorcerers.

Yeah. I think that would help a lot. Then I'd have something solid to work with.

Thank the archer dude for the compliment. Ask if he's got any tips for evading arrow fire.

Punch Ilan in the reproductive system. That was like, the worst way to pull an arrow out.

>identify the type of arrow used
>know that said arrow has a huge, nasty barb
>yank it out, causing a huge wound
Punch him in the face and/or balls, then get somebody who's less of an asshole to treat the wound and dig out the other arrow.

Bemoan your lost scarf. The arrow would totally have not gotten through that thing. It was sheer awesome.

BALL PAUNCH.

Then, medical attention.
>>
No. 390112 ID: 34955e

Yeah get a bit of medical attention. Also put up a poster offering a finders reward for anyone who brings back your annoying yet useful scarf. Maybe you can get it back.

Also maybe you could come up with a magical anti-arrow defense. Would be handy for the future. If Ilan shoots at a target while you stand next to it you could try to put up a wind shield. See if it works and all.
>>

punch Iian in the dick. he should know better than to do that. If he grabs for the other arrow then slap him silly.

After you get some competent medical care, consider investing in some heavier armor. You're strong like tank, you can wear some better protection without it slowing you down much.

Fuckin' kidney punch! Bastard. That really hurts!

Yeah, centaurs are like some horrible mishmash of anatomy.

ANYWAY: Get the arrow wounds in your back checked out. Getting that BARBED arrow YANKED OUT couldn't have been very good for you. Then you can... I dunno... what's on the agenda?

Consider upgrading your armor to withstand arrows. That or a magical ward of some kind. Cast by you, on some amulet or something, or on the armor.

His lower body's like a pony or something. I thought centaurs were bigger than that. Either way, its time to get that other arrow removed proper-like. To the Doktor!

I just go get some medical attention. Getting arrows out of your shoulder is a relief, but sucks at the same time. At least it's out.

Go learn some anti-getting-shot-at magic. :|

You know, like some kind of magical wards that nudge arrows just enough to the side so that they don't hurt you?

Might also be good for swordfights, if it didn't drain you too much.
>>
No. 391845 ID: fa9f7e

>>391838
Alternatively, if you can absorb kinetic energy, it'd stop all projectiles and swords, etc. and also give you energy.
>>
No. 391855 ID: 2ed56b

or just dragon up and wear some stouter armor. Even a good suit of chain would be proof against all but the craziest arrows.
>>
No. 391863 ID: fa9f7e

>>391855
You're joking, right? Chainmail is a series of loosely connected holes to an arrow. It won't do much. Chain's for dissipating force- slashes and blunt weapon. Piercing attacks- like arrows- go through chainmail easy. You'd want a shield to absorb the arrows.
>>
No. 391872 ID: 786b7a

>>391863
Or, if you can stand the heat, an overcoat of felt. If the hair base(wool) is long long enough, less than half a centimeter gives pretty good protection already.
>>
No. 391885 ID: fa9f7e

Oh, and another (possibly self-contradictory) note- chainmail could possibly deflect an arrow if it came at an angle and had the right type of arrowhead. You'd still get bruised/cut, but you wouldn't have an actual arrow in you.

It's not reliable, as it relies on you being lucky/being able to out-move a projectile going at LEAST 150 feet a second or so. Don't get chainmail *just* to try and protect from arrows, but if you ever find yourself facing an archer with only some chainmail as protection, it's handy.
>>
No. 391956 ID: 256d52

Or just think like a Mongolian and wear a silk vest underneath. The arrows can't really get through the silk you see. They can still end up embedded in you, but they're a lot easier to take out.
>>
No. 391958 ID: fa9f7e

>>391956
Yeah, you tease the silk apart to get the arrow out. Also, 18 to 30 layers of tightly stitched silk can stop an arrow. It all depends on the tensile strength of the fabric and density of the stitches. How much does silk cost proportional to your income? Not fancy dyed silk, raw silk will do fine.

Your video is laughable. Any decent chain was pounded into flat rings, then riveted. (with every other ring being solid). A reasonable test would put the hauberk over a clay or gel torso, over significant padding

Harden the fuck up and grow some dragonskin / scales / or bone plates.
>>
No. 392637 ID: fa9f7e

>>392151
Yeah, this is getting kinda ridiculous. Let's just say that growing scales of some kind would be the best option- less weight and it wouldn't have to be maintained, followed by magic- weightless, hopefully, but would take energy, followed by chainmail- heavy if it's any good, and since anyone can make an account on a forum, I'm not taking their word that it'll stop an arrow.
>>
No. 392668 ID: bccf7b

>>392151

Using materials from a time-period most analogous to theirs, NO. Chain and even full-plate would not likely stop a well placed arrow and certainly could NOT stop a crossbow bolt.

They were much too thin and weak due to poor smithing techniques and frequent use of iron or poor quality steel.

>> growing scales of some kind would be the best option

Yeah and after a long day of adventuring you go to take off your armor and kick back in a fireside lodge. UH OH

There's a reason scale growth is a popular curse.

The best option is clearly to cultivate her speed and dexterity, which along with a magically enhanced "danger-sense" would allow her to avoid catching any further arrows in the future.
>>
No. 392696 ID: bccf7b

>>392678

I agree. We know how to fight with a weapon and magic, now it is time to learn how to fight without getting beaten up as much.
>>
No. 392708 ID: c71597

>>392678
Or maybe even catch the arrows and then throw them back at the enemy archer.
>>
No. 392783 ID: fa9f7e

>>392678
Hm. If we can use magic to enhance our reflexes, archers can use magic to do similar things. Homing arrows, supersonic arrows, etc. Sounds ineffective once we run up against another magic-user.

>>392674
I don't see a problem with this, given that we're not just one xenophobic species like we were in those times. I doubt scales will make everyone flee in terror.
>>
No. 392796 ID: 8e18cd

Magic in this setting does not work that way you faggots.

She needs two things:

Armor, possibly leather or chainmail so it won't restrict her movements too much.

Blind fighting training to get her senses hightened up.
>>
No. 392798 ID: b6edd6

>>392674
With shapeshifitng, scales are actually easier to remove than armor. (Which also serves as a combat advantage, in case you have a sudden need to more more quickly.)
>>
No. 392819 ID: b6edd6

Isn't dragon hide pretty good against being shot? We can currently turn into one of those, though finding a spell that gives us protection while still having hands would be nice.

Hey, hey, how about using magic to magically become KING OF THE ARROWS.

They would dare not harm their king!

More seriously, I do like the awareness training idea (such wonderful montage material). You're doing good on the kicking ass side of things but people seem to be getting the drop on you an awful lot.

AIR MAGIC!

REDIRECT PROJECTS WITH A SHARP BREEZE!

FUCK!
>>
No. 393072 ID: 87fa55

Buy some chainmail anyway. Even if it won't stop the special armor-piercing arrows, it'll make them hurt less, and stop the other kinds. Also swords.

Make sure you get a kind with really small rings and/or cloth on top so it's easier to draw.

It sounds like a good idea, but then everything those damn Oglaf dwarfs suggest does at first. It probably has limitations such as energy used, but it sounds like a good measure. Research a bit and ask about scales vs. air shield.
