A lone goblin with a bag of tools and basic provisions stands in the wilderness, cursing that she should perfectly match an incredibly vague description.

She has tools for woodcutting and digging, so she can scout for a site or start setting up right here. Whatever.

"Fuckin' trees everywhere. Fuckin' heavy bag..."

What's her name again? We never did find out.

Nikkel gets started on her own for now. She's sure the others will catch up, lazy, stupid bastards.

She cuts wood until noon. She now has logs she can use for lumber. How does she render the logs into planks? Geez, aren't you nit-picky. Let's just assume she can make basic wooden things and move on, shall we?

Now that the trees are removed, there's a small clear spot here as well. Convenient?
>>

make a nice wood house for yourself, the others want houses then they ether need to make it themselves or beg.
>>
No. 469248 ID: c6c9c6

Did this expedition include Tents?

If YES we can focus on building primitive-chairs, 'desks (more like logs with a plank over them) fire pits, and other things to make this more of a camp, and more of a place to do carpentry work (as I suspect we'll be doing much more)

If NO.. well shelter has to be our priority. Which means a WHOLE lot more logs need to be cut to make one with your trusty lucky JADE-AXE (Which isn't actually made of jade we just like to call it that to make it sound fancy. It's just painted that way). Alternatively we can just dig a deep hole and live in there. Which seems very gobliny I suppose.

Hopefully when the rest of those lazy bastards show up they can help you put something suitable together.

Uhh on a random note:How much FOOD do we have? Any at all?

By the time the sun goes down, Nikkel has crafted a pile of wood with a door on it. Not bad for one afternoon of heavy labor. It's almost absurd that one small humanoid with an axe could build a house in one day, but we're not going to worry about that.

>How much FOOD do we have?

Enough for three days. Er... Two days. Might have to do something about that sometime.

So, should Nikkel roam around in the dark, or make plans for tomorrow, or just do something else?

Well you're a carpenter right? What do you know about building traps? Even small basic ones should get us some snacks after all. Chop a few more logs, see about putting them together over night, and take a nap when suitable. We can find some nice spots to set them up in the morning we have food until then.

Please ignore suggestions to run outside and rape people at random. This is a bad idea. If we need more goblins I'm sure we'll get immigrants eventually.

The dark is dark, but Nikkel can still see enough to move around, especially in the moonlight. There's a body of water to the east, so there might be food in there. She didn't really check the area first, since she just started chopping at the forest at random.

She's also not really interested in getting knocked up immediately for no reason, even if someone was here to knock her up.

How about making a pit trap, using the leftover branches and such from your woodcutting? Dig a deep pit, whittle some pointy wooden spikes to stick in the bottom, and cover the top with branches covered with grass to disguise it, then go chase a deer or something into it. And if it doesn't work, you can always backfill it to make a couple of latrines.

Oh, and make a ladder first, so you can get out of the pit once you've dug it.

Nikkel builds some pit traps.

The first trap she built seems to have been successful in catching something, as it's contents are still rustling around down there.

The second trap she dug collapsed into a small cave and she had to spend most of the morning digging herself out. Fun.

So back to the task at hand, there's a potential food item in the bottom of this here pit.

Yeah, grabbing the axe first give a sense of security, knowing that whatever is in the hole can be smacked with a bladed weapon.
So now Nikkel can check the hole, secure in the knowledge that she can fight it off if it's something really mean, like a bear or a dire hampster. What could it be? >Can't it just walk up the wall?
We could analyze the load capacity of loosely packed dirt or the weight distribution of the ant's body mass, but even if it can't walk up walls, it still has horrible claw feet to climb up normally.

So, upon luring it out in a display of cunning, Nikkel cunningly hits the ant with her axe, cunningly, until the ant is splattered all over the place to show how cunning this whole thing was.

Nikkel can start on some bigger projects, but gathering materials and building take time.
Deciding on how the workload is split up should be the first thing to worry about.

She used all the wood to build a shack and start a fire, and she hasn't gathered any stone.

Counting her starting provisions and the ant meat, they have enough food to feed one goblin for five days.

Being in charge is hard. Who should do what for today?

Floors are not the place to start here. We need a proper foundation. Dig a trench along where the wall will be, an arm's length deep, and begin building wall there. Pile dirt around the wall when it rises above the mouth of the trench. Then place wooden joists between the bricks and lay planks across them to make a wood floor. Keep piling the walls up with more stone until you run out or reach a level above head height, at which point the next floor or roof can begin.

Since we're short on appropriate stones, find big mountains and stuff, and cut bricks from them in the same way you cut bricks from found stone.

Good to see Yog isn't a freakish mutant.

Let's see... put half of them on food gathering. Another person should start gathering stone and ore further down underground, with an emphasis on forming exploratory shafts.

The second person should make sure we have all the furnishings in the house. If all the furnishings are dealt with they should get to work on bricks.

Nikkel, start exploring on the surface again, this time in the other direction. Fill up a second page of map. Maybe a third if there's time for it. If there's even more time, explore some more past the original cave entrance and get to building a bridge over the natural skylight we have going in it.

Day 17

Wood:81 (+140, -59)
Stone:91 (+210, -119)
Brick:18 (+18)
Food:17 (+12, -9)
Copper Ore:8(0)

Nikkel: Building Management

Xomid: Food Gathering
Grubby: Food Gathering
Tubby: Food Gathering
Zox: Stone Quarrying
Drek: Stone Quarrying
Konkaff: Wood Cutting
Yog: Food Gathering

After a solid week of doing stuff, the little stone goblin hut is a mighty stone goblin structure of appreciable size. They even got that fancy palisade wall started what somebody was going on about. The building required expansion of the mine and that required more wood and that cleared more space to build, so the whole operation is spreading like a creeping blight on the land.

Good job!

Oh. In that case there was just some confusion in the reports, and the -5 wasn't a net loss, it was just how much was being eaten...? The numbers are a bit weird but I'll just assume some mechanics changed behind the scenes or there was a math error of some sort, which happens a lot with resource management in quests. Speaking of math errors, these numbers are for only one day's worth of food gathering/eating! It should be +84 -63, and we'd have 35 food stockpiled. It looks like food gathering brings in 3 food per worker now. So we actually only need 1/3rd of our workforce gathering food in order to break even. That's easier to handle.

Take Xomid off food gathering and have him start mining out all the ore we found.

Nikkel: maybe you should faff about and do nothing productive. Err I mean, explore... the wilderness. Yeah.

After the water subsides, Nikkel finds that the deluge originated from another pocket cave that ends in another dead end. At least there's more ore in here, dammit.

Nikkel should... ehrm... turn around. In order to survey the damage of course.

We need to go deeper. Start digging some stairs down. Or just like, a big shaft with a ladder in it, if you want gobbos to occasionally fall and die.

Well, they really did it this time. The water rushes by non-stop for a prolonged period of time with no end in sight. It's probably safe to assume the bottom of the mine is going to completely flood.

I bet you broke into an underground lake. I suggest going over land and then digging down about where you poked the hole into, so you can see how far up the water level is, and so you can maybe find the source of that noise.

Meanwhile someone should scout out a new mine.

>exit and reload to auto-settle the water
We'll need to dig around to locate the source. If it's the pond, we'll have to seal it off from the outside.

If it keeps going forever, you can build a secret underground waterwheel! Use it to power stuff topside and other people will be all man, where does all this moving stuff get its moving from? It must be magic! And then you will have respect.

And bread.

The cave fills with water, but not too much to trap them. They can still swim out. There's just enough water to flood the tunnel and the entire lower mine.
So that's going to be hard to access for a while.
>>
No. 500993 ID: f2c20c

Please tell me we revealed something worthwhile in the most recent drained chamber.

Also do not dig any further in that direction. We don't need more water.

Assign Blame.
Obviously somebody (besides you) made a huge mistake that caused that flood. Its your responsibility and privelage to take out your irritation over this setback on some deserving bastard. Even if they don't exactly deserve it for what went wrong.

well the mine is fucked for now so I say we work on maybe building a few new buildings or something around the stone structure we have going on, or at least add a little bit more on to it. I mean one building and a fuck ton of goblins, that place has got to be getting cramped. and we have more of those fuck nuggets coming over at some point right? might as well get this done now before it bites us in the ass later. And well your minions do that maybe you can explore a bit more. I mean all we know that is around is the stone building, a small lake, and a mine that some ass hat we still need to blame keeps on flooding it, what else do we got around here. and it's not like something can hurt you right, you got the Fuckstabber.
