I hear most of them have smug manes or large... chest lump things I forget the name of, but I got myself a neat vest before starting out, so that makes it alright.

Today, I just finished my first ruins delve! That makes me a real treasure hunter. I mean explorer.

Yeah.

But now, I'm a little unsure what to do next.

>Probably you should review your inventory.

I am not carrying a whole lot. An explorer needs to be agile and nimble, to avoid those nasty traps.

But I do have - some lock unjammers, my trusty knife, a pouch containing flint and steel, some Delicious Jerky, and the jeweled necklace I found in this room.

There is also my rope and grappling hook, but I used them crossing a broken walkway outside and they are still there.

In what was apparently some uninspired design choices by the creator, this room is almost cubical and featureless, except for that pedestal over in the corner that I got my new necklace from.

Have you heard anything about this place or the necklace? It seems a tad suspicious that a lone necklace would be in an empty room on a pedestal with weird symbols on it without there being something up with it. Does the necklace seem magical or anything?

>Have you heard anything about this place or the necklace? It seems a tad suspicious that a lone necklace would be in an empty room on a pedestal with weird symbols on it without there being something up with it. Does the necklace seem magical or anything?

There is a small logging village on the way here, and they did not come up because the path was broken and it was likely full of dangerous things like traps. Which it was, as it turns out.

And... no, not really. It looks valuable, it's a big ruby on the end of a sturdy thread of some kind. But it's not glowing or anything if that is what you mean.

Hang on...

... No, it doesn't taste magical either. Magic things have a fizzy taste, right? It tastes like a regular old dusty rock.

I think I am just the first explorer to find it because I got past the giant saws. There were bones out there, you know. Nasty stuff.
>>
No. 392552 ID: 133e22

Well go back to the village if it's not too small a village to have a place you can get it sold or identified. If it is too small you'll have to find a close town or something.

392720

Well yeah... obviously that would be the best thing to do. But I don't think I've been very clear about my situation. See, this is a map of about what I've seen of the ruins so far. As you can see, I got past the giant saws on the way into this room.

Getting back out, though... well, I'll be honest. I think an old bone jammed one of the saws mechanisms on the way out and that is how I got in. It probably will not happen again.

In retrospect, I probably should not have rushed in without thinking things out, but now I don't know how to get out without becoming several semi-sergal ex-explorers. D:

What should I do?
>>
No. 392722 ID: b6edd6

Can you move the pedestal? I doubt they would be able to cut through that if they can get jammed by a bone.
If you can manage it you should try and detach one of the sawblades to take with you. Those things are pretty valuable.

It may be heavy, but it is also round. If you can tip it over you can probably roll it into the blade traps.

If not, I guess you should go look at the blade trap area again to see if there is anything else useable there.

393036

> Also, could you specify what is what on this map? It would make things much easier.

Certainly! It's really not that complicated, so I'll point out the important bits.

1 - The sawblade traps I just ruined with that pedestal.

2 - A pitfall trap cunningly disguised on the floor. Not cunningly enough, though, as I found it before it could catch me and edged around it.

3 - This tunnel here leads somewhere, but it caved in at some point in the past. I don't know if I can get through there, those rocks look awfully heavy, and I don't know how deep the cave-in goes.

4 - At the back of the entrance hall there were some crates. Most of them seemed to have moldy stuff like food in them, but I suppose it is possible they have treasure. I don't really like digging through moldy food though, so I left them be for less gross treasure pickings

Yeuck, no way. That thing is gross and slimy, and the mushrooms seem to be growing faster now that it's dead.

Though, I am pretty hungry now that you mention it... Maybe I should get out the jerky.

Uh, he's shouting at me again, and I still don't understand him,
but... from the stern tone and waving finger,,I'd say he is delivering a lecture about something.

I'm uh, pretty familiar with that particular body language, actually.

Scolding you for being a sissy, I imagine? You gotta cut that out.

Though if you're familiar with the body language... who used to scold you? Your father?

... And my mother, and my trainer, and...

And I don't really feel like talking about this right now.

Can I go eat now? Or maybe, find and exit and eat outside where the horrible cave monsters aren't?

Eat while you walk.

Take no shit! Get mad at the kobold in return!

Yeah, let's get out of here. Also eat some jerky without giving him any.

Mmm, delicious jerky. Best travel food, ever. Screw those hard biscuits, yech.

And I'm not starting a fight with someone who maybe can cover me in mushrooms so I rot into goop like that worm thing.

Besides, he got tired of yelling at me, I guess, and is leading the way again. I believe I see some light at the far end of the tunnel. I think we're nearing an exit!

Well, there is the exit. I can see it is twilight outside, which means I might have been out for only a few hours after I fell, or over a day. Not sure yet.

My guide is making it petty clear he wants me to leave, and probably not come back.

I don't have any problems with that, but I remember that glowing room, and now know the way out. I... guess I could go back to check it out, but I would have to convince the kobold to let me back in.

So what should I do? Leave or head back in?

You seem to be strangely intent on going into that glowing room.
Inexplicable urges to go to an area are often caused by mind-manipulating monsters that want to eat your brain meats.

Really?

Well, uh, maybe we can skip that adventure, I... I suddenly feel... cave sick. Yeah, need some fresh air, off I go!

Aaah, smell that grassy fresh air. Nothing like it after musty caves.

It looks like I am in the plains east of the logging village. It is getting dark and I am tired, so I will deal with it tomorrow morning.

See you then!
