hm, perhaps we should get more currency for this next shift by collecting more rocks. Should be much easier now that we are now duo players with Hammur instead of a solo.
and after the shifts end, we'll try to escape while everyone is asleep. Finding that key to that door first is a must if we want to escape.

put your helmet shield on Hammur's head. He needs one in here.

i dunno the head of a hammur is usually the strongest part, though it is true a helmet shield is probably of limited effectiveness.

Maybe Sui's bomb did more than they thought. It could be blamed for either broken platforms like this guy, or for the science platform(s) having a negative reaction to successfully completed tasks.
Sounds like he doesn't know where to go, which is further evidence that their infrastructure is malfunctioning. You should not call attention to this.

Why don't you try some manipulation? Tell him it's going to be alright. You'll help him get accepted by the lake again, but to know how to do that he's going to have to explain how this place works. What is the lake? What other kinds of platforms are there? What other structures are there around here, can he show you to the ones he knows how to get to? Does he know where "Machines bird" is? It's too dangerous to go into the chamber where she's kept, but it'd still be nice to know where it is. Might even be nice to talk to whoever's trying to keep her alive, to find out how it's going. Maybe we can get a timescale on how long it'd take her to recover.

Events of the previouse few minuits aside, you kinda need a little bit of backup here, and this male is the closest thing to that. He's going through an emotional time right now, so he's ripe for emotional manipulation (yes, kind of an immoral thing to do but at this point a: morals don't matter and b: he ows you big time anyway). Play up the fact that he's been abandoned by the 'lake', for something thats not his fault, and that you are the only one who cares for him (a lie? of course) and that he really should be helping you instead of following orders right now.

Unsympathetic or not (I know, but this should sounds very familiar to you), if he's grappling with paradoxes and free will, he needs to understand that what HE did is wrong if he didn't reject they told him to do.

Convince him to lead you around, to where you want to go.
Find Sui and her belongings.
Prepare to finish what she started, if you want to be reset and leave.

....I think science lady emotionally and mentally abused this guy until he thought he was supposed to rape you. This makes him a victim as well. This also means it's science lady's fault. She's a gigantic bitch anyway. We should wait until Sui is stable then hit her with a rock and escape.

Meanwhile, Defect is emotionally compromised and vulnerable right now. It would not be difficult to manipulate him into helping you or serving your interests. It honestly depends on how much you can bring yourself to hate a whimpering self-hating mutant with brain damage.

As stated in the so-very-recent previous thread, this is a quest thread with a game mechanic to make it a bit more /tg/(chan) related. Whenever you suggest an action that has a chance of failure or is important, roll a d20 (email field, 'dice 1d20'). Rolling under Driblis' (or whoever's) related stat of BODY, MIND, or TALK will make the action successful. Rolling over it will be a failure. Not all actions require rolls, but you may as well roll dice when you make a suggestion, in case it does. Probably going to be a bit more lax on requiring that on tgchan than I was back in the old country. Each attack in combat deals 1 HP damage, critical hits (nat 1) are GM-fiat.

This game is completely sandbox, so feel free to do whatever! Also it's been a short while since I've run a quest, so it's possible some recent conventions are not present here. Feel lucky there's no orb of infinite psyche.

Previous threads here, but not really required reading: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Quest:Driblis_Quest

>sneaking, critical failure!

Today isn't Driblis' lucky day. Driblis ends up tripping over nothing, and rolling through a pile of thin sticks! They go scattering everywhere!

This wakes up a dog that's nearby! The dog is immediately aggressive!

Driblis has 5 HP at the moment. The dog looks healthy!

The dog is barking angrily, and growling! This is certain to attract attention.

Driblis is armed with a bone spear!

Attempting to fight is a BODY roll. As is attempting to flee! There are other options too, probably!

rolled 5 = 5

We did have some dried meat, but I think we left it in our backpack. Hmm.

Here's the plan that I would go with. First, shove the bone spear in the dog's mouth so that it bites on that instead of you. While doing that, grab some of the thin sticks and light them in the fire. Then use the burning sticks to push away the dog.
If the dwarf woke up, then escape outside.
If the dwarf hasn't woken up yet, move past the dog and towards the passage that leads deeper into the adobe - I'm assuming there should be one. Drop the burning sticks to prevent the dog from following you.

I think we should keep going by Suplex for now. We'll go by May once we've escaped, and, preferably, wiped the tiniest fragment of this Silent Hill Otherworld nightmare from all planes of existence. Suplex is who we are and were. When we escape, no longer her shall we be. Our name, and who we are, when we've freed ourselves of this place - it's gonna be May.

Anyway, as for questions,
-How long is the trek to Mockery?
-Got anything we could hide under/wear that matches the scenery for camouflage? Could be useful if we need to hunt for food or in case they've got scouts or drones that survey the land.
-Got any ranged weapons, or are we stuck with a couple of shock sticks and my teeth?
-Can I make this "money" using horniness, too?

Just a mild question - why'd Suplex's appearance change from "weird tooth goblin" at the beginning to "weird cat-dog" about halfway through?

Once upon a time, there was a prince.

The prince was the embodiment of joy, spreading hapiness wherever he could, and the world thrived with life.

However, the little prince soon fell ill and closed within himself in his bed, swallowed by the emptiness that he had never known to be inside of him.

The nurses and medicine men did everything they could to heal him but sadly there seemed ti be no cure. His skin grew hard like treebark and his eyes glazed over with a lavender color.

One night, late in the witching hour, the little prince vanished. Nowhere was the pained noble and what was sikply left was glittering dust snd the smell of fresh fruit.

No one knows what happened of the boy, whether he fell t ok his illness or vanished all together, but some nights you can still just barely hear him humming.

I guess I can do that… I buy some extra food, just in case. Now I have 7 coins left.

>You think you need more help, but the villagers can't give it to you... Where else can you get help from? Unless there's an adventurer in town I don't know what to tell you, aside from head to a larger town quickly?
Well… the closest person I know that MIGHT be able to help me is my master… Although I don’t know if coming back right now would be convenient since it has just been about 2 hours since he sent me away…

As for large cities, there aren’t any around these areas… the closest one Is still far away, and it could take weeks of walking, although there would be some towns and villages on the way.

While some adventurers might come to these areas, it doesn’t seem like there is any nearby. It might be because my master lives nearby and has dealt with pretty much anything that could be troublesome as soon as it appears, and it has been like that for some years, so adventurers in might have decided to leave this place in search for better rewards elsewhere…

Sand, sand, and more fucking sand.

An endless, hellish landscape. Devoid of life. That's why you're here, after all.

You've been driving for three days straight, kept awake by nothing but black coffee and blacker nightmares. You're somewhere in the southwest, it's as close as you're going to get to your destination, which is to say, nowhere.

You're driving an old beaten-up economy car, in the back trunk sits a briefcase containing 50,000$. On your person, you have a small pocket knife, a burner flip-phone, a wallet containing 60$ or so, and an M1911 pistol with only one seven-round magazine. There's a backpack on the passenger seat next to you with a change of clothes, some toiletries, a half-empty bottle of absinthe, a small tin full of medical supplies, and an almost empty bottle of painkillers.

You're going to need more painkillers soon, your gut is starting to throb again, but you have to ration what you have left.

It's about seven PM, and starting to get dark out. You could either keep driving, to where you don't know. Or you could pull over and sleep in the car. Either way, you need to rest soon, much as you hate the thought of stopping.

It occurs to you to check the car for damage, after that storm last night.

You stretch, awkwardly, to the extent you can without aggravating your side, and pop your door open.

You take a moment to prepare mentally for the pain that follows every time you stand up, then swing you feet out the door to get the whole process over with.

You stand; much faster than you should have. That was stupid. You hiss and brace yourself against the car. Pain lances up your back and joints, all horribly cramped from so long on the road, a headache immediately develops as blood rushes to your head, pins and needles shoot down your left leg, which must have had the circulation cut off while you slept. You're hungry, dehydrated, and now pretty much everything hurts. If you're lucky you might even have a heart attack and die out here. The world would be better off.

The car looks about the same as ever; crappy and cheap. The windshield is pretty busted up, but the damage is on the passenger side so you can drive just fine. Under the hood, you find the entire engine covered in sand; if you don't clean it, it'll be completely totaled in five-thousand miles. You just hope it still starts.

It does. You're almost disappointed.

Balls. Alright that's probably a large fire elemental at this point; how well could you fight fire with fire?
Would Fendas be able to use that water bolt scroll against it?
I say the summoning chamber is our next destination, unless you think you can't fight that thing. In that case we should stock up on anti-fire stuff, which are probably all in the water chamber. Fendas can go check that one out. You can probably find some relatively safe but useful things in the earth chamber.

I agree, but Nalene should go first. We cannot trust Fendas to go thrusting into holes blindly!

Why fight a fire elemental? It is probably just looking for a way home. Unless it is corrupted, but if the corruption got all the way here, then best to burn the whole complex to the ground. Just return with the ashes and assume that the toothrbrush's remains are in there somewhere...

Ugh, you know what? Go get that magazine back and match the figures to the hole in the wall. It stands to reason that this lab was summoning things from that book, for reasons best not thought about...

We may want to get into that room for a closer look, if only to determine which direction the wall burned - inward or outward. It’s the difference between something in the room looking to escape, or something from elsewhere (possibly lower?) seeking the surface.

If we have anything to write on (like the pages in the blank section of a Codex) we could pass the time trying to put together a map of what areas we've explored so far, including the locations of points of interest we've investigated. (We'll want something to help us decide a direction when we're finally out of the "finding our footing" phase of this new life.) I'd like to eventually complete the map of this chunk before moving on to any others. Have Vermillion and Jordy contribute what they traversed before we found them. Sprite, how does one tell the difference between a chunk border and a regular old biome transition? (We should use a colored line to represent the former, for clarity.)

There seems to be a large blind spot where we could approach without being noticed. As long as the soldier doesn't move and we're quieter than the sound of waves, it should be doable.

Alternatively, the soldier seems to be close enough to shoot. If we could pull them out in the open, as long as we're a decent shot, we should be able to hit them.

So the plan would be a stealthy A, with one person covering us with a gun while we approach through the water. If the soldier notices the people below, they would likely take a more open position, which would allow the person covering us to shoot them. If they don't notice us then we simply get close and do a hitman job.

THIS QUEST MAY OR MAY NOT CONTAIN: adult content, gay and lesbian content, gore, asphyxiation, nonconsensual immolation, necromantic life drain, vivisection by way of mideival weaponry, full on cannibalism through swarms of sapient insects, cube-based dissection, and vaginal fingering.

a girl entered the tavern about a half ago, beaming from ear to ear, and strapped for war.

"a mug of your finest, sir!" she said, "you're looking at the newest initiate of the Crawler's Guild!"

Select a Race:

GARGOYLES: stout of body, stout of soul. gargoyles are as unmoveable as the mountains.

MURDERSCRUBS: Death begins, death ends. Murderscrubs are masters of the fine art of killing.

FURIES: anger within, fury without. Furies burn with a righteous and uncontrolled rage.

ZENLINGS: fleet of foot, fleet of mind. Zenlings move like a cold breeze, and strike like a sandstorm.

LUDELINGS: perfection of self, perfection of the world. Ludelings walk like men, and think like wolves.

See if you can get a sniper-class long-range archer for your rogue slot. With Dances-Nude laying traps and your 'Paladin' Harvess scaring the ^&*( out of the opposition, most of your higher-level threats are going to stay the @#$% away from your killzones and take potshots until you stop moving. Hire someone who can take potshots at them first.

Rounding out this party, get a Defender who focuses more on mass-defending the team than aggro-tanking.

Suggested Crawler re-name: Killzone.

I don't believe Dances is flirting with us. To me, she simply seems very earnest and friendly.
This, however, should not stop us from being friendly and flirtatious with her when given an effective opportunity.

I'd say we find a warrior first. You've got a more passive spellcaster; we need to find a big ol' fleshwall-in-training.

Also, is Dea coming with us? What role is she covering? Have I mis-interpreted/remembered things?

“…And our next piece is drawn the very talented and gifted Pilli DuGast. See the stroke work, how it splashes unto the canvas with such fury and vigor. You can almost see the emotion of the artist as he painted this masterpiece. The shape language tells us a story on its own, with the sharp angles contrasting the soft circles of its centerpiece, whiles the colors, red and green, presents us with the idea of the endless conflict of the two sides of our very soul. Tell us, Pelli, what emotional significances, what deep enigmas and thoughtful depictions are you presenting us with?”
Marquis Isabella de Lac Vicatar the IV.
At the monthly art appreciation extravaganza at the Sunstrider gallery of grounded and local art.

“It’s a rooster.”

Could it be that he has been the one painting but not the one turning them in? Maybe his brother/friend has been doing it behind his back all this time.
If his friend/brother was close to him and found his art good but he himself thought that it wasn’t he could have handed them to the gallery without their knowledge to get his art recognised thus proving his point that the art was good to him.

You're gonna have to talk fast so he can't cut you off. Tell him you're a P.I., Rishi Zsazsa, hired by the Sunstrider Gallery's owner, Isabella, to find the artist Great Green Twin Wyrm, him, and get him in contact with her. Tell him Isabella's comm number and ask him to please just call her. Tell her he's the Great Green Twin Wyrm and him and her can sort out this business with his paintings. Then tell him your comm number and to call you if he wants to know any more.

He's married? Well, that's a real un-Serpens thing, isn't it? And it's rather likely that Drizu is Axio's husband, going by what you've seen so far. ...And going by the way Axio doesn't know the paintings are gone and that Drizu got all aggressive when he found out who you were looking for, Drizu is either involved in the paintings getting to the gallery or is hiding that the paintings are gone from Axio.

Also, since there's no outside comms in the club, that'd explain why Drizu didn't get in contact with Axio the second you left Drizu's office.

I don't see much reason to hide the act of donating paintings to a museum. Not unless there's something else being smuggled in with the paintings that the curator doesn't know about.
It's more likely that Tezo is making up excuses to decline- I mean, saying the paintings aren't supposed to be in the museum is one thing, but accusing the messenger of being the thief is another. It's frankly a ridiculous accusation; why would a painting thief track down the owner and invite them to the museum they DONATED the paintings to?

Well, attempting to hold an extended conversation in the middle of your respective jobs turned out awkward. That's why we said not to try and give him the whole message right now. It sounds like he's kind of in a hurry, so we should keep our current meeting as brief as we reasonably can.

Sure, we'll wink for a photo if Tezo agrees to talk later so we can explain things properly. It sounds like something suspicious is going on and we want to help him get to the bottom of it. Sharing comm numbers should be enough.

Or if he doesn't want to talk about it over the comm system for some reason, he could give us a room number where he'd be comfortable meeting with us later. If he thinks we're suspicious, would he be more comfortable if we were tied down while we were talking so we couldn't try to attack him or anything?

If we have the time, we might want to assure him that we don't mean any harm and were simply having a difficult time getting into contact with him.

"I was just hired to find you and deliver a message to you, which I have. If you believe your artwork has been stolen, then contact my employer at this number" *give him Isabella's number* "to tell her."

"If that's not enough to satisfy you, you can call me at this number" *give him Rishi's number* "and I'll help you find the art thief."

Then let him go and pose for the camera, without knocking any of the food off of you. Afterwards, go join Thule and hang out with him for a little bit. If Tezo wants to talk to you, he can have someone from security bring you to him or he can have someone in the security room follow you on the cameras and then he'll come to the room you're in.

she doesn't interrupt you as you tell her about what happened, but her brow furrows even though you skimmed over the supposed severity of your future actions. when you finish, she says what you knew she'd been thinking the whole time.

"they couldn't have been legitimate or they wouldn't have told you about this."

"but if they weren't, why would they bother? I can't imagine it would be easy or cheap to find someone willing to make you clothes to help impersonate an acolyte. why go to the trouble just to make a fake prophecy about one person? there would be better things to say to stir up trouble, if that's what they wanted."

"assuming you're the only one they're telling things to. eventually people would start to figure it out, but so far out here, it would cause some chaos before the lightwell could get it under control."

you shake your head slowly.

"even so, that doesn't explain why. it's just - it doesn't make sense. no matter how I try to think about it."

she looks at you contemplatively. it's unreasonable to expect her to have an answer, an easy solution that would put your life neatly back to where it was, but part of you had been hoping against hope, and you try not to let your disappointment show.

"so," she finally says. "what are you planning to do?"
