The place where Scarlett suspects a secret room might be at, is around the area with the elevator, gift shop, law scale and barred windows icons is at, which is suspected to be a law or court room and a prison for misbehaved prisoners... (who are already prisoners in this weird experiment?) >>943149

If people's jobs are related to the places on the map such as someone good at cooking being assigned to the kitchen or someone skilled at health being sent to the first aid room, and if Scarlett wants to inspect for a secret room near the law and prison rooms, then the answer in some way should reflect that Scarlett's occupation is related to law, which is technically true given the occupation of detective before getting stuck here. Besides, Scarlett already told Pink that she was a detective when they first met.

Scarlett's answer should be that before being caught and sent here to this facility, she worked to help enforce the law as an officer, and as such, she has extensive knowledge of the laws that governs civilization, due process, and the judicial system.

don't get hopes up though. the jobs that are assigned might not even be any of the jobs on the map, but could be assigned to somewhere where those doors that seemingly lead to nowhere is at (the door leading north of the bedrooms, and the door across the gift shop)

(>>948533 note to self: try not to use your points at the rewards corner. The rewards corner could be a system in place to condition people to want to stay here after the two months have passed. Sure they might have things that seem fun, or helpful, but lets try to stay above that, and focus on trying to get back to the outside world)

questions:

what about the white marked location, more specifically, the room with what looks like a microphone south of the map?

and what about the two doors that doesn't seem to lead to any rooms on the map across the gift location and in the hall north of where our rooms are at?

(I'm also wondering if we should ask Garvin if he had hobbies, or attended any sort of clubs or activities when he was in school to help him get a job and not get stuck with something terrible, but it would be weird to just bring that up in the middle of the robots' presentation. Maybe later?)

That's missing the point. If they die, the fountain (not us, and using new techniques since Deem's time) revive-teleports them back to town. If they die while holding our heart, either it is protected from teleportation or it goes with them as they instantly leave our domain.

You all met in a tavern in some no-name logging town out on the frontier. Scruffy prospectors, scheming merchants, disgraced minor nobles, and deranged veterans from thousands of miles away converged on rumors of a ruined fortress from the Old Empire and the priceless treasures within. Seemed like a great way to get rich, make a name for yourself, or at least keep busy while avoiding the big cities for whatever reason. Things went wrong. Now you're lost, with barely any supplies. Getting out alive won't be easy. Might still score some wealth and power on the way, though.

Pick a class (hedge witch, rich bastard, soldier, or townie), and a specialty within that class. A hedge witch specialized in healing can resurrect the dead, if all the key giblets are in place, but after they start to go rancid it's like pushing an avalanche back uphill.
Pick a higher ambition (compassion, fame, honor, wealth, rule the world, etc.), and a lower ambition (fetish).
Pick either a phobia, a concealable mutation/parasite, or a supernatural vulnerability - or all three plus an innate power.
For example, an elf could have a phobia of disfigurement (an un-pretty elf is called an orc), pointed ears providing acute senses but vulnerable to overstimulation, and the power to balance effortlessly on any solid surface, no matter how narrow or fragile. An adventuring vampire could have a phobia of holy powers, concealable fangs to heal by drinking blood, vulnerability to immersion in running water, and the power to transform into mist. A corrupted princess could have a phobia of slime, vagina swarming

Lizzie is accused of petty theft and dragged off to face judgement by the local lord. Everyone else sees her wander away in a trance, through what looked like a solid wall near the far end of the "marketplace" cave, about 200' away. There's also a more natural-looking tunnel to the left of the secret passage.

Inside the lord's manor, Lizzie marches dutifully to the great hall and waits until...

...she realizes those aren't courtiers and guards going through the motions of official business before her trial can begin; they're just elvenoid bodies, empty shells of meat dancing and ululating mindlessly.

Room you're in is thirty feet wide, sixty feet long, and the arched ceiling averages fifteen feet high. You entered through a 10' wide vertical-pivot stone door in the center of one of the shorter walls. There's a throne of some darker sort of rock, nearly as wide as the door and proportionately high, centered at the far end of the room. The throne has been empty for a long, long time. Two more doors flanking it, and a bas relief cityscape carved into the wall between them.

Let me try to see if I've got a handle on the story thus far. The separated expedition group found stragglers reuniting the in the throne room we started in. Lizzy sat in it, turned into a minotaur, and then was eventually slain, before being brought back with a healing potion which unfortunately didn't help her severed tendons. After wandering around she's now been separated from the group and left in a different empty throne room. How's she doing for hunger, thirst, injuries, and rest? Have her rations of wine and dried meat been significantly reduced? Here's her starting inventory list:
Kindling
>Jug of Wine
Canvas, fashioned into a wedding train-esque cape given her relatively small stature
>Candles, shaped like waxy millipedes crawling around on her.
Dried bugs Meat, mixed with ghee and other additives to create a crumbly, greasy trail mix.
>A consumable magic light source, stylized to resemble a lightning bug. Striking it activates it, and the casing allows it to be stuck to things easily and covered if needed. Pinned to a cool pointed hat is preferable.
Coin Purse

If she doesn't need to rest, let's try and go back out the door she came through.

Lian will go to keep watch with his shoulder against the corner of the tunnel near the secret entrance, positioned to watch down the tunnel while keeping cover from it, occasionally glancing back into the room to keep an eye on his companions.

What of these pirates? From what circumstances do they spring? Do you hope to recruit them or simply take their ship?
>>
No. 947657 ID: 6c9030

>>947563
What advice we can give depends on what you intend to take from this encounter. The ship? The crew? Cargo? Information?
Any are achievable, all may be achievable, but what you want is going to determine how the problem is approached.

As for the pirates, they fall into one of a few different types.

The first, and the worst sort to run into, are privateers. They're less pure pirates and more mercenaries or employees. The crew may or may not have been pressed into service, but the officers will be extremely loyal to their masters - if for no other reason than because disloyalty would mean blackmail at the least and assassination most of the time.

The next are the outlaws. They're on the run from the authorities, and have turned to piracy because they're already running from death and aren't going to be any more dead if they do what is necessary to survive.
They're going to be more paranoid, but also more open to negotiation. If you can offer them protection, and they'll believe the offer, they're extremely likely to take it. A fresh start with a clean slate could be something cheap for you and incalculably valuable to them.

Third are the desperate. They don't fear the authorities so much as the utter destitution they face. They're generally engaging in piracy because it's the only way they can keep their families alive. Depending on what you want that could make negotiations trivial or extremely difficult.

The fourth is the fleet of an unrecognized nation. They don't consider themselves pirates, and that makes dealing with them both tricky and straightforward.

not going to lie, I have a feeling we're being played with right now. That whatever grabbed Delphi could have stuck at any time and taken us out at any time but thought it would be more fun to fuck with us and take us down one by one.
>>
No. 947592 ID: ce39da

I think the trap here is this; it's not a question of whether we're fine on our own, but whether we can leave Helkite to get the door to backup open without getting nabbed himself when our back's turned. I think this will decide whether we fight alone or together from here on out, and having allies would be nice, but we might end up sacrificing Delphi for it, which aside from ourselves, is our highest priority.

"I'm counting on you guys for backup!" Can we put a barrier on the water in the immediate area to reduce ambush points against him?

>Can we put a barrier on the water in the immediate area to reduce ambush points against him?
No, because Vol needs to stay nearby for the barrier to stay active. That wouldn’t work if we leave to go chasing after whatever took Delphi.

Aside from that, and what everyone else has covered, ask Sib what we can do to help. Ramona can provide lore, Rachel can provide strength, and Lisa can communicate outside the basement. You can assist in combat and heavy lifting, but you cannot communicate very effectively directly with Rachel.

+ + +

Will you keep the team together, or split up? In this special case, splitting the team can result in controlling another character temporarily. Keeping the party together will remain focused on Chuck.

Calm down. Obviously whatever mystic mumbo-jumbo involved in letting us see that vision is a lot harder on Chuck than it is on us.

Let's check the bookshelf -- have Ramona watch your back while you examine stuff, since she seems the most level headed.

It's not easy to tell time when the sun's always directly overhead.

That red moon is no good either. Maybe she's afraid to linger too often in the same part of the sky, like courtiers rotate through dresses.

A few stars are visible, dancing as if in pain.

Near as anyone can tell, that distant screaming - well, the coordinated kind - comes every twelve and a half hours, at what should be dawn and dusk. If that's right, tomorrow will be the first day of Resplendent Fire, and the first full month since the cataclysm which dropped a fifty-mile-wide chunk of Creation into the Demon Realm.

What have you done?

Testing food for dangerous contaminants is apprentice-level alchemy, a series of variants on the "alchemical touchstone" procedure. Negative for heavy metals, wyld energies, demonic corruption, and cholera. One sample came back positive for hallucinogenic fungi, and all of it has excess wood-aspected essence at levels considered unsafe for pregnant women or the elderly. Should be alright for supplementary rations, provided it's thoroughly cooked and at least half the troops' calories come from somewhere else.
> in case the situation suddenly deteriorates
When Karal Tin Otter makes eye contact with Red And Gold's jade lion bodyguard, portions of the chaplain's uniform and necklace (with a copper amulet of the three-candle mon of Hesiesh) are abruptly destroyed in a flash of violet fire.

The teodozjia then challenges Karal Tin Otter to a duel: first to surrender or have a limb torn out of the socket (meaning shoulder or hip, not wrist, ankle, elbow, or knee) has to do any one immediate non-physical favor of the winner's choosing.

COD, in the pilot's seat, sees through rear-facing sensors as the chaplain is confronted, and recognizes the jade lion. With three successes on Intelligence + Occult, you know what there is to know about teodozjia - basically anything from their writeup in Books of Sorcery 5 can be considered in-character knowledge. Long story short, the physical threat (while very significant) is secondary: they're preachers for the demon princes, relentless enemies of everything that's good and holy.

It will be important to make Seses Xanin aware of for longer term planning- another source of food will eventually be required, if this stuff can only safely stretch, but not replace, rations.

What kind of effects would result from a diet where half the calories aren't coming from somewhere else?

>KTO and the Jade Lion
Too far aware to hear exactly what transpired, the daughter of Sextes Jylis can nonetheless sense the sudden change in tension in the negotiating party- and readies herself for the worst. She sets off across the waist high blood red "grass", an unnoticed melody of bells overlaid on the breeze and the stillness before confrontation.

Activating Invisible Street Performer Technique for 3m peripheral. If the lawship is facing south, with the meeting between Sesus Xanin, Red and Gold, and Karal Tin Otter (and attendant demons) taking place behind the rear of the craft center screen, Dell's approaching from the North-West, closing to 60yards (closing to range for Three-String Sword Prana).

Anybody who can consciously channel essence would probably be fine. In ordinary mortals the excess energy will accumulate, eventually causing sickness and mutation. Kidney stones, or malignant tumors superficially resembling wood aspect markings, perhaps, though it's hard to be sure without knowing more about the specific demesne. Might take years for serious symptoms in an initially healthy adult whose intake was only a bit over safe dose... or some mad genius heretic geomancer could channel the energy just exactly wrong (presumably as part of an attempt to share enlightenment) and cause a spectacular, possibly lethal, transformation same-day. For continuity purposes, since it was pointed out to me UWD actually has zero dots in Occult, one of FFE's Retainers is acting as a lab technician to do apprentice-level analytical alchemy, the results of which can then be easily understood in a medical context. Also, the mad geomancy would be some version of the Essential River Channeling procedure, defined here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N-8geUuklKlno_TGuFZezYnvvkWWOQCPev4rXa4cyRQ/edit#heading=h.iph4ftx9xnic

COD is cut off as her sworn Brother, instead of sticking with the ship so they can make an emergency takeoff, starts creeping towards the brewing conflict, presumably to jump into the ball of Exalt and demon if things escalate. Great.

"Goose, I need you in the co-pilots seat. Everyone, stop the loading and secure cargo for emergency take off. Tsukumogami, high alert for intruders, don't let anyone disrupt piloting activities, non-lethal action against single attackers or known allies."

Goose is the mortal retainer with enlightened essence, who was trained as an emergency pilot before they recruited Dell. Since Dell was acting as co-pilot before, her Purifying Mercy Stone is still inserted as well.
Tsukumogami is her living armor, who is staying hidden on her form, but actively searching for signs of any unseen intruders.

From what I remember, there's some sort of trick that you can use by taking an action that only lasts a single tick, or can be freely aborted or something like that, effectively allowing you to hold your action until a later tick. COD is doing whatever that entails, preferably shifting into a defensive stance if it doesn't disrupt it, to perform take off in the case that TKO agrees to the duel.

You are VOIDSY, and as your name would imply, you’re in the void. It has been some time since you’ve focused your collective mind, but you need to move. It’s time to collect your thoughts.

The game is officially starting, and your enemy is the most notorious god of the Taverne pantheon- one you want to join if you win this game. Not only do you want to teach this murderer a lesson, but losing this game means death. Your tiny cat people are akin to your children, and you love them- and you will prepare them for war.

You’ve upset Wretch, and that needs attention sooner rather than later. Strategizing with Eastwood was easy enough, but you haven’t talked to Miller as much. Talking to all of your alliance members will be crucial to your success against Spit. Talking to Spit was a disaster, and while continuing a conversation would be a terrible idea, it is an option.

Your cats are armed to the teeth, but Jasper seems...less than comfortable with their new existence. Maybe a one on one talk would be a good idea. Like talking to your god teammates, communication with your TCPs can’t go wrong.

Of course, there’s always directly planning your next move. You can multitask some things, but not too many, focus would be a better plan in most situations- what’s your first move?

So
this isnt a great situation.
Its stable for now, but Spit still has one more TCP.
If they walk in, we're totally screwed.
We need to get support here, beyond just Jasper and Buddy. If anyone else can pass through the bag, that'd be really nice, or if the other gods could transport some of their TCPs over in the vehicle.
Buddy needs healing urgently, and probably should heal Jasper too. I really don't know what we should do with regards to Hark though. Hopefully she will stay unconscious long enough that we have time to work something out.
After healing, I think Buddy should either check on Writhe, or remove the collar from Seaspray. The longer we leave Writhe alone, the more likely something bad happens to them, and they are currently holding Marvel, but removing the collar would mean that Miller could communicate with Seaspray again.

Actually, if Miller and Eastwood just, shouted really loudly at their TCPs, would that wake them up? Does volume through god communication transfer like that? Can you even wake up people knocked unconscious by making loud sounds or does that only work on people who fall asleep normally? I don't know the answer to those questions. It would be really helpful if Eastwood or Miller could wake up their TCPs though.

Naw, see, that's the wrong way to look at things.
Instead, LET Neeral get pregnant, and then claim it's a miracle. Have her use raising their half-kobold child to justify staying with the adventuring party, and seduce the bard into being 'monster-swingers'.

She gets endless powerful monsters, and an armed escort.
>>
No. 945885 ID: a9af05

>>945880
The problem with adventurers is that they get paid to kill monsters. Asking them to help us make monsters is a good way of getting them to just turn around and kill Neeral before she can make any monsters.
>>
No. 945889 ID: e6f10c

>>945885
A important clarification is that they're paid to kill monsters that have been a big enough bother to someone with coin to pay to have said monsters killed. If the monsters aren't causing trouble, then why risk the party member's well being to slay 'em? And if they do cause trouble, well, that'll be more job opportunities for the party, though killing the monsters would go well against Lamashtu's desires. ...But if Neeral could speak to the monsters she's birthed and they'd follow her direction, then this could be a opportunity to con folk out of their cash. Bring the monsters in to cause a ruckus, then Neeral leads 'em off secretly and the party claims they dealt with the problem and gets paid.

Anyway, it's still way too early to reveal such things to the party. They do not trust Neeral anywhere near enough. And even if and when they do, them knowing is another way knowledge of Neeral's blessing by Lamashtu and mission to slip out and get to the ears of those who would kill her.

Oh, and a important note about the way Lamashtu's blessing on Neeral works is that the egg Neeral lays (two days after conception,) are buried to finish their growth and then hatch. How long that'll take is unknown and might be based on how big the offspring are. Whatever the way, it means that Neeral doesn't have to stick around to care for the eggs or the offspring.
