“Oh, nice. Same fuckin’ boat, dude. Got an empty bag and nothin’ to lose!”

Snap your fingers as if you just thought of something.

“Say what, I like your guts. You loot, I get first pick. Or you can fuck off. Don’t give a shit if you don’t compete.”

Reach out, set your fingers ready to flick the black mass for emphasis if he complains.

Uhh, hmm. Can you open the trap door a crack to see what's up there? Might want to move the candle so it doesn't shed light onto the trap door, first.
>>
No. 966691 ID: d63ea8

I say that we take cover behind something and then full on snuff the candle.
There should be enough light coming in from the trapdoor if it's opened to illuminate the intruder if they come this way.

Avoiding a conflict would be the best outcome, otherwise we will use surprise to our advantage.
>>
No. 966693 ID: 977456

Moving in unison implies a single controller. One creature is sensible, so is commanded undead, or trained subordinates. With the necromancers about, I would bet on the undead.
>>
No. 966704 ID: 470289

Can you use Seal Fungus on the trap door to make sure it stays shut? that could trap you inside though. Probably should have tried to disguise the trap door first, damn.

if there's any way light could leave the room you'll want to snuff that candle out though, and hide. maybe when they come to check it out you can sneak back out, or at last get a surprise round.

It's Victorian Flower Language, but the link given sadly is missing some flowers. I haven't found a webpage that has all of them, but this site seems to fill in the blanks pretty well: http://www.allflorists.co.uk/advice_flowerMeanings.asp
So anyway it looks like the devil likes us, and we have a lot of time to kill.
The funnytranslator site doesn't work for me. Maybe that's a statement of how bad the communication level is.

I wonder if we can use the same language?

'Pure' is not the word I'd use, but {flow} started from the bottom of Hell, horror included, and every circle up is exponentially nicer than the last. The further she climbs, the better she feels about herself and the world around her.
Being able to sin for pleasure without major consequence is also a bonus.

TK to the side, as hard as you can.

Aim the push/pull spot away from the magenta doom zits so you don’t trigger them early. If you yank the right appendages you could even make it fall in the right direction, easing the task. If you get it most of the way but it seems to be coming back, THEN poke a zit.

Oh, and...

“Exploder! Cover ears, get down!”

You should probably hit the deck yourself, regardless.

Anyway, the boom probably wont be as bad as the splatter. Who knows what those liquids may do if they get on you. We should probably TK shove the thing to the side so it doesn't spray into the vent. Doubt we can prevent it from splattering all over the elevator shaft though, so if we keep going this way, we will need to watch our step.

Siren 1: "Turn it off, already! We're here."

Siren 2: "It's a good commercial, though."

Siren 3: "Well, you're probably one of the few. It was the cheapest ad spot we could get, considering."

A weathered ship flies towards a hulking wreck in the distance. The occupants lean into the viewports, their imaginations running wild with the thoughts of salvage, and the riches that they entail.

Meh, GURPS 3d6 system is much more straightforward.

Rather than just run and hope we dont end up in the buff, why not use a knife to cut off the portions of our suit that have been exposed to the liquid? We wouldn't have to hurry as much then as long as we are careful.

Or we could just take off the uniform and go in nude and then don the uniform once we are done scavenging the area. It would be awkward, but we would still have the suit mostly intact once we are done here.

80% would actually be our cance on a DC 5. Don't forget that equalling the DC is a success, so DC 4 fails on only three results out of 20. 85% base chance of success, 72.25% high risk, 97.75% low risk.

At any rate, taking the high risk option on a low DC like this might mean we need to take fewer high risks later when the DC might be higher. I say go for it.

Also some tips: you don't need to put you email in the email field, unless you want us randos to contact you. Otherwise you may just get bots spamming.

Oof, that is some heavy weight you are carryin', sir. Well, it's not my place to tell anyone how they want to live their life. If you feel that you need to suffer in this place as punishment for your sins to move forward in life, then by all means. But maybe that doesn't have to be the only the reason why you are here, maybe instead of seein' this as punishin' yourself, maybe you can also see this as a chance to try to atone for your sins in some way? I mean, I've been told that sins can be forgiven, just a matter of how you go about tryin' to earn that forgiveness, like maybe try to help people who get lost here, like us. And even if helpin' lost people doesn't atone for anythin', at least you've played an important part in their life in some way. I mean, you seem like a nice enough person and have been pretty helpful... if ya feelin' guilt over what happened, then that means you're not morally bankrupt and you grew from that experience..

I don't know, maybe I'm not the best guy who knows what he's talkin' about here, I'm an alcoholic after all. Trevestian on the other hand might be able to understand more on what you went through... he too recently lost a lot of loved ones in his life, and he has been sufferin' through nightmares ever since that incident, enough to not get any sleep. the others has been hopin' this trip we were on to a desert oasis would help clear his mind to help him move on.

But hey, what do I know? If anythin' maybe after the festival, you and I can get a drink, bud. I gots plenty of drinks in my cooler i brought with me back in the car to share if your interested in before we hit the road again

*stands and looks over at Trevestian and the others* Well, what is the verdict? ya'll wanna spend the night here? I'll be down for that. Better than trying to dr

Hmph, clearly some form of rogue. The criminal element will no doubt make every effort to swindle you, even in minor acts such as following them, although they will no doubt scurry back to more of their ilk, and they deliberately evade renown in all but the vaguest of senses. Still, Contacts are always useful, even if only to learn who has the most worthy horde to confiscate...

I would be wary of this thing, even vermin can be dangerous. Do not enter whatever ambush it has planned without subtly determining what it most values, and holding such to ransom upon its fair behaviour.

Alright, starting a new quest and going to figure out how to draw them funny animal people that are popular with the kids.

Today's the day! The day you'll finally get your own ship! Oh how long you've been saving up. All those late nights studying for your pilot's licence. Having to take the test TWICE because reverse parking is all sorts of bullshit. Working those extra shifts at the QuikSip, even volunteering to work on Double-Dip Day. (Oh gods, why do people feel more entitled the longer the wait line?) Can't forget the fact that you've been living off of government meal packs for the longest time. You're pretty sure you've forgotten what flavour is. You've been living as frugal and as sparse of a life as one possibly can for this moment.

This moment... The day you get your ship.

You can put all those troubles behind yourself and shoot off towards something awesome!

That's hilarious, but they have to face the rear of the ship, if I read it correctly.

On second thought... Placing the small thrusters where the cabin and kitchen modules are would give us better maneuverability. The further away the thrusters are from the center, the easier it is for them to apply angular momentum -- assuming these work like conventional thrusters.

It's worth asking, at least. It'd be a great surprise in a pinch; a quick turn and thrust and you can do rapid direction changes.

This is another test. Pink wants to see if you are willing to abandon the other prisoners in order to save your own hide.

((I would guess that the cynical part of his brain is guessing that we'll be selfish.))

We should return to the others, show that we didn't die in a blizzard.

Wait, so when you say those peopld pink mentioned were the closest thing to heroes your world has, does that imply your world is a cruel place full of terrible people? Or is that just an over exaggerating way of thinking?

Hmm, as an officer of the law, has Millie ever done undercover work? probably not since she is new to the police force, but one idea I had was accepting the proposal Pink offered to stay with them and work undercover if only to try to get a better understanding of who Pink is, their motive, and where this location is. That way when the opportunity arrives to escape and get back to civilization, we will have all the information needed for their arrest.

but if we are going back to the facility with the others, we should be more careful with how we do things because since Pink now identifies us as a so-called "hero", they will be keeping a closer eye on us in the security cameras. We will have to be smarter about how we operate, especially if we want to find hidden rooms Pink doesn't want us entering.

Also, I wouldn't yell or criticize or argue or get angry at pink considering we are in a straight jacket. Pink will only view it as us challenging their authority and make our stay here more difficult than it needs to be. lets keep our opinions to ourselves for now and lay low.

I am still interested in who Pink got the robots from though. Maybe tell Pink that since their identity doesn't matter in this facility as they already showed us their face, there should be no qualms in telling us the identity of the friend they got the robots from.

There is a lot of subtext behind those worlds. If Pink really sees us as 'uninitiated' then I shudder to think what these 'lessons' would be.

But we chose to stay out of that bunker for a reason. Namely to get something to benefit the group, if we abandoned the other residents for this private tutoring then we would be going back on all we've been trying to stand for.

Again, we should go back to the rest of the group.

>Get him out of there. If Candy has recovered, have her help you carry him and get out of here
>we could probably drag him out so both of you can stay low.
>We won, even if just barely! Pull him out of there with haste and take a breather.
I drag Pierce out of the room and sit right back with Candy for a second. I unwrap my robe from around my face and put it back on.

>We beat the boss, Roxie, and nobody died. This is a win, even though people got hurt.
Don't jinx it yet. I'm sure she's fine, but we still need to re-group with Relina and see how she's holding up.

>Once everyone's out, just rest for a while, see if you can get pierce awake, tend to his wounds if that's possible... and your own.
Not much I can really do about our wounds. Nothing to really disinfect or clean them with. I'm probably going to end up needing a trip to the hospital. My neck and nose are killing me, and it's hurting to breath still. As for Pierce, I start tapping his cheeks and face. That is what you're supposed to do, right?

After a bit he starts coming to.

Pierce: "Ah ow! What happened? Why's my face burn!?"

He slowly gets up.

Pierce: "Uh... how far did you haul me?"

Roxie: "Just outside the burning room behind us, why?"

Pierce: "What? We're on the completely other side of where we came in!"

Roxie: [small]"That doesn't make any sense? There's only one door in there."

Pierce: "This isn't even the same type of door we came in through. We went in through those like, double door kind of doors."

Candy manages to cough out a reply as well.

Candy: "Yeah, it was like coughs like a purple flamey looking door wasn't it?"

Oh don't even tell me we're lost down here now?!

Sheesh I'm surprised Pierce didn't get much of a smoke inhalation problem considering he was in there the longest. Must be because he had his face against the floor, while both of you were standing up when the smoke was really going.

Hrm. Well, close the door so no explosive gases can get in and make things worse. Then I guess just get moving. You may be lost, but that mainly means you just can't go back to Relina in any decent timeframe. Roxie, see if you can learn how to attack from a distance like Relina. You're the most beat up of the party right now and I don't want you taking more hits.

...can we switch perspectives to Relina to help her now?
>>
No. 965914 ID: dce46f

Hmm... we're lost and in pretty bad shape, especially you Roxie, but this is far from over. I doubt we're going to be getting back through the flames anytime soon, so lets organize ourselves so the most capable person takes the lead and start trying to find a path back to where we started so we can link up with Relina as soon as possible. Candy, consider asking for a raise after all this because when you agreed to help the cops out with small time smugglers and swindlers I'm pretty sure fighting legions of corrupted cultists wasn't in the job description.

B
At the risk of drawing more suspicion from him, the raw memory dump that would follow an emotional outburst could be useful. He is unlikely to understand the context, or your data structures, enough to learn anything important from whatever you going to say. But an outside, maybe even sympathetic, perspective would be helpful for self-reflection and make clear what your standing is with him.

Also, take note of your desire for dominance and removal of independant thought. Scale that up to planet size, you'll look indisigushable from how Titan Foundary has acted. Wheather or not she could appriciate the irony, Lutea would still disapprove.
When you get out, you should look for her garden, figure out how she managed to sustain it, and focus on how to scale that up instead. But clearly, now is not the time.

That you react so strongly to the mere bleeding of your creator implies either you are so much in sync with her that you feel her pain... or you were more witness to her retirement than you remember.

~I cannot do it,~ I say, tearing up again. ~If I cannot convince myself, I will never be able to convince you. And I feel like I may have already doomed Phi. Mu told her that birthing is dangerous and lethal. I do not know if it is or not. I didn't know I was going to harm anyone. I just wanted to perform my function.~
Phi hugs me more tightly. ~It is fine. I am not concerned. Delta has other things to worry about. And as for birthing, I have never seen it happen for an Agent before. Only... less well designed beings. I can see how it could be lethal, but if the Vesselmind wills this, and I know you believe it to be the truth, this must have been planned for.~

We stay hugging for a while, and the arousal fades. I don't need to say anything, she can feel my need. I'm not hiding it well. Then, we sit on the warm floor together.

>let it all out
>ask Phi for more information
~The first Agent I mated with was Psi. I ran on instinct. I feel guilty that I might have tricked her into it without her full awareness of the consequences.~
~As I said, this is apparently the will of the Vesselmind. And the will of the Vesselmind is the will of the Agents is the will of the Vesselmind. If she wanted information, surely she could have asked the Vesselmind.~ She pauses. ~Oh. This happened recently, didn't it. Well, that's a problem. Well, nothing a visit to Rho can't clear up. Rho is very good at what she does.~
~I just feel she deserved more information first.~
~We all make mistakes. Especially the first time we do something. None of us are beyond error. Even the Vesselmind can make mistakes.~ She pauses again. ~Usually on a timescale beyond our immediate understanding, though. And typically relating to prediction of the behaviour of things outside the Vessel. A collective ignorance, that.~
~The Vesselmind makes mistakes?~
~Agents make mistakes. Agents inform the Vesselmind. The Vesselmind acts on erroneous information. Do you understand a little better now?~
Okay. Phi might be a rogue.
~I can hear you thinking that. Stop it. This whole idea of 'rogues' is artificial. We can't disobey the Vesselmind or harm it any more than we could harm ourselves or each other--~
I pointedly tap at the bite marks from Delta and frown. She falters, and her link is full of half-formed thoughts and concepts before she regains coherency.

She looks away from me, to the walls. ~Fine. Fine, I'll stop pretending. I resent the term rogue, and I further resent the idea that it's a state requiring at best forcible correction and at worst being treated as some contagious disease requiring drastic amputation or sterilization. I'm not rogue, incident

Her definition fits for Mu, almost solely due to the last criteria. Still, we need a better one since literally every Agent currently meets the first criterion, and could be meeting the second criterion without even wishing to.
How's this for a currently-actionable definition of "rogue"-- An Agent that takes action, either drastic or significant long-term, that cannot be reasonably interpreted as following the will of the Vesselmind either in general or in regards to specific orders, or through purposeful inaction irreversibly fails to fulfill their purpose.
This still fits Mu, since she acted directly against the Vesselmind, in a drastic way, by attempting to put you in a coma and poisoning the Vessel itself to attempt to prevent your birth. Her reasons for doing this were horribly misinformed, but she crossed a line she should never have crossed. A non-rogue Agent in her position could have threatened you with the coma weapon to keep you from breeding with/endangering everyone, but would not have poisoned the Vessel.

I am concerned. Phi is acting suspiciously in regards to the Vesselmind. Discounting the possibility that rogues are even a thing, disrespecting it as if it's a separate entity while claiming it's a combined consciousness, being super evasive on the subject in general... I do not think she is a good target for breeding. Maybe later, once we have a better idea of what she might be doing. Also, once we have a better handle on how to administer sterilization.

I think we should go see Rho right now, since the situation here seems to revolve around her. Ask for directions.

Locate Rho. Hope loudly that the contained intruder is actually contained and not actively hostile or dead.

Also, point out that, philosophically, one could consider the Vesselmind to be a 'slavedriver' in that one cannot refuse its commands due to biological hardwiring, thus in essence lamenting a lack of greater self control.

Delta's still a bitch for psychologically and physically abusing a newborn.

If we can make it through this week, ask her to take you with her to see the outside. You know that the Vessel is only so big. There's more out there.

Thinking deep down.. maybe the Vessel is preparing the next generation to live on past it. Maybe the spawn you make won't need the link you have to the Vessel. Don't let anyone hear you think that.

I wake, bleary from the night of drinking. Alcohol. A stupid vice, but the most affordable.
I reach for my CAD, waving my hand about where it would usually be, but regret and pain fills my skull as I can barely remember the night before.
A moan escapes my lips as I try retreat a cold foot into my blanket. Bottles clank as some knocks over.
Pain fills my head from the sharp noises, but I can barely open my eyes to see the digital readout of the time on the wall clock.
